Smiling is contagious. It changes our mood. It fights stress and builds your resiliency. Smiling boosts your immune system. It lowers your blood pressure and blocks pain.

Part of National Smile Month is about maintaining good oral health. I just recently went to see my dentist and I didn’t have it in me to lie about flossing my teeth. I just don’t take the time, especially as life gets busy and rushed. And I am not the only one.

Currently, research shows that a significant number of us have taken time off work in the last five years due to poor oral health. Most problems with teeth and gums are preventable with a good daily routine. Furthermore, a quarter of all adults have not visited a dentist in the past two years and a similar number only brush their teeth once a day.

Take One Action Today To Build Your #Resiliency!

Here are today’s Tips For Building Resiliency and Celebrating National Smile Month:

The Oral Health Foundations recommends that we brush our teeth right before going to bed at night and on at least one other occasion throughout the day with a fluoride toothpaste. We should also cut down on how much sugary food and drinks we have, and how often we have them. And finally, we need to go to see our dentist regularly.

Ultimately, the aim is to help us achieve good physical and mental wellbeing by improving our oral health.

A smile might be a small gesture, yet it can have a remarkable effect on our state of mind, as well as the emotional happiness of others.
