I have some great memories of going to the drive-in with friends. Staying up late for the dusk to dawn movies on the long weekends. I loved taking my own kids to see the latest Disney flick at our local drive-in, one of the few remaining ones in our area. The boys would be dressed in their jammies, pillows and blankets ready, popcorn to snack on as we waited for the sun to set and the movie to begin.
Even now, my husband and I will head to the movies during the summer for date night.
Did you know that the creator of the drive-in did so to help his mother enjoy the theatre in a more comfortable seat way back in 1933. These drive-ins saw their heydays in the 50’s to 80’s, but sadly, with movies on demand, many of these local drive-ins have closed.
