There's no difference between the physiological response to something that you're excited about and something that you're nervous about or that you're dreading. We can dial down the level of alertness or increase the level of calmness.
I actually love the energy of anxiety when it's that right combination of adrenaline and endorphins and dopamine. We love this feeling. People do all sorts of things to try to get that chemical cocktail of adrenaline and dopamine and endorphins. In a leadership role, so much of communication is just about connecting and establishing shared humanity. And then when you can, trying to motivate people, inspire people, maybe challenge them.
Hi, I'm Matt Abrahams, host of Think Fast, Talk Smart, the podcast. Communication is critical to success in your business and professional lives. Our goal is to help you hone and develop your communication skills. Over the course of 75 episodes, we've discussed many topics.
including how to manage speaking anxiety and communicate more confidently, how to communicate with power, how to negotiate for what you want, how to be creative and influential, and how to truly excel at hybrid work. What we found is that the moment we feel the most insecure about having social information is the moment where those information really is valuable to have.
And we've all experienced this when we make a lot of decisions, like in a meeting, you have a lot of decisions. Your sort of energy that you have for the first one is very different than the energy that you have for the third one or the fifth one or the 10th one. And so as you become depleted, let's say, and you still have to make a decision, the way you solve that problem is you simplify the decision for yourself. Thanks to you, our listeners from all over the world, we've become a top careers in business podcast.
In 2023, we'll speak with professors who are doing cutting-edge research and communication experts who are defining the latest business and career practices, all with the goal of helping you become a more confident, clear, and compelling communicator.
