College strength and conditioning has come a long way. Since we first understood that strength and conditioning could increase performance, we have been developing new strategies, techniques, and methods in training athletes.

In this episode I talk to the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Performance for the University of Pittsburgh, Stephanie Mock. Stephanie played college volleyball at the West Virginia University where she gained her first real experience in a structured weight room. That is where she gained a passion for strength and conditioning. She went on to be a part of several college programs including Clemson, Mississippi State, and Pittsburgh. Through her experience she has been striving to put herself in positions to to learn and stresses the fact that being slightly uncomfortable is beneficial to growing and learning.

Stephanie and I talk about how she handles the weight room, develops culture. Keeps things fun, the insane amount of technology available, using data vs intuition, the new name, image, and likeness rule, and MUCH MORE!

Strength and conditioning is an exciting field and it has serious potential to become an even bigger part of the sporting world through not just the training, but the recovery and sleep aspects that are becoming an evening bigger part of the field.
