The U.S. Senate voted to make Daylight Saving Time permanent last year (the House of Representatives has yet to take up the bill, known as the Sunshine Protection Act)). As we mark another semi-annual clock change, we speak with Dr. James Rowley, the president of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, who reminds us of an “experiment” back in 1974 when permanent Daylight Saving Time came and went quickly.
“People were so against it, Congress reversed themselves in less than a year,” he said.
Rowley explains why the Academy instead supports a change to permanent Standard Time. He also shares some tips for acclimating to Sunday’s change.
