Trump aimed to dismantle the existing political structure to rebuild it with fresh, untainted perspectives, aiming for a new and improved system.
Thune's election was a close and contentious one, reflecting the Senate's resistance to the populist movement. His leadership will be closely watched for alignment with Trump's agenda.
The secret ballot was likely used to shield senators from public accountability, fearing backlash from constituents who support Trump's agenda.

A new Senate majority leader, Senator John Thune from South Dakota. Now, this audience did not want Senator Thune. We were enthusiastically behind Senator Rick Scott. And the vote totals went like this. In the first volley of votes, Senator John Thune did not get a majority. He received a plurality.
Then after the second round of votes, he is Senate Majority Leader. The first round of votes was like this, 23 for John Thune, 15 for Mr. Cornyn, and then 13 for Rick Scott, 27 in order to pass. A second round of voting occurred, and John Thune is now Senate Majority Leader, 29 votes to 24 votes. Now, mind you, that is one of the closer votes that we have seen in quite some time.
Now, look, I'm not going to spend our time attacking John Thune. He's in charge. What I will say is this is John Thune has a short window to show us who he is, to show us what he's made of. I'm willing to say, okay, fine. Everyone says that you're a rhino. Everyone says that you're a gutless wonder. Maybe you are. Maybe you aren't. You have a short window.
to show us that you will support President Trump, fill his cabinet, confirm his judges, pass his agenda, do recess appointments, keep the Senate operational for 24 hours. If Chuck Grassley has to go take a nap, that's fine. We're not going to put up with this. Senate goes into nap time for a couple days. Look, our movement is ascendant, and they know this. This is a very, very tight Senate majority election. Very, very tight.
Our movement is growing. It is powerful. But allow me to emphasize one of the most disturbing elements of this Senate leadership election. We don't know how people voted. Of all the votes that they take, this is one of the most important votes that they take. Since Republicans vote with the party 98% of the time,
What matters is who are they actually putting in charge of the United States Senate? And the majority leader decides that. But their votes are private. We don't actually know who voted for John Thune. We can guess. We can piece it together. We know some of his allies. I like Mark Wayne Mullen. I think he's a good man from Oklahoma. We've gotten to know each other. Don't agree on a lot of stuff, but he's willing to dialogue. He's behind John Thune. Okay. I know some people are behind John Cornyn.
But why the secret ballot? And it's very clear. They do a secret ballot because they're terrified of you. John Thune is now Senate Majority Leader. If he does not support President Trump in these next 30 to 45 days to fill President Trump's cabinet, we will remove him. If he does support President Trump, we'll support him. But Thune won in the darkness.
Thune did not win when people had to voice their support for John Thune. The only way that they are able to keep business as usual in the Senate is to not have you see who's actually supporting business as usual in the Senate. And in some ways, that should give you some hope and some optimism. That should give you some confidence and encouragement.
In some ways, it's actually a very good thing because they're terrified of you because you care and the American people have awoken from their slumber. That's not the result that any of us wanted, but it was the high probability result. Some people said, oh, Charlie, Rick Scott's going to win no matter what. I said, I don't think you realize how much the U.S. Senate is in contradiction to the needs, wants, and interests of the American people.
But they're increasingly getting nervous that they might face primary challenges. The Senate is not an insular good old boy club. It should be a representative of the citizens. However, it does operate as a country club. Secret ballots, work a couple hours a day, kind of go work out in the gym, feel as if you're very important, lunch with lobbyists, foreign trips. You feel as if you're the most really important person.
And we rose up in record numbers this election to try to prevent this exact thing. The American people, think about the American people voted for just a week ago. The American people voted for transparency, accountability, integrity, honesty. The American people voted against everything that we've just seen through the United States Senate. And I'm not going to make this the John Thune bashing hour. I am willing...
I have, I'm very cynical and I'm very skeptical because if I was a betting man, I would say this guy's not going to deliver, but prove me wrong. John Thune, prove me wrong. I'd be the first one to say on the Charlie Kirk show, this guy is the best Senate majority leader in a generation. I want you to prove this entire audience wrong. And I'd be the first one to do. You know what? You've been terrific. We call balls and strikes here. We call it as we see it. What do I think is going to happen? I think that you are going to continue in the tradition of McConnell,
But it's a blank slate. Show us that you are not that. Show us that you are willing to listen to your voters. And yes, you are up in 2028. I sure wish it was 2026, but 2028 will be here. That cycle will happen very, very soon. Blake is from South Dakota. He could be the chairman of the South Dakota Pressure Project. And by the way, that is one of the reasons why they wanted to get behind John Thune. They're so smart. They're so clever. That's not the right word, clever. And Aristotle said in one of his books, The Ethics, that...
cleverness without ethics is one of those dangerous combinations. And boy, is that correct? When you are clever, you're able to navigate and you're able to snake through the institutions. This is so similar to why they chose Mr. Lankford to do the border bill, because he is far away from a primary challenge. He is distant from the accountability of the American people.
And so for John Thune, they say, okay, even if he gets to be really upset, if Charlie Kirk and Tucker Carlson and the whole gang want to primary Mr. Thune, he is detached from the accountability. Do not underestimate. That is one of the reasons why some of these senators got behind Mr. Thune.
I've never met John Thune. I've never talked to him. He's said some very nasty things about President Trump before, saying he should withdraw from the race, saying he wish other people. But look, you have to have short memories in politics. You have to. You got to wipe it clean. Okay, new day, new mandate. So what are you going to do, Mr. Thune? And I'm very curious. I want to see the statement.
And by the way, Senator Thune, you're always welcome on this program. If you want to be in front of a big audience, this is where the stuff really happens anymore. It's no longer just on the cable news chatterbox where you go on and you get a couple softball questions about how much money you're sending to Ukraine. We don't do that around here. We're going to get down to the essence of the matter. And I understand you're not a movement conservative, but we got some questions. Are you going to do recess appointments? Are you willing to support the president and his agenda? Can we get a border bill? Will you pass a bill to Ukraine?
allow for Department of Homeland Security to do their job? These are all very important questions. Are we going to have real spending cuts? If Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, by the way, who's in charge of the Department of Government Efficiency, if they highlight hundreds of billions of dollars of wasteful spending, Doge, are you going to have the wherewithal and the fortitude as Senate Majority Leader to capitalize on those cuts? And understand this,
For those of you that might be a little down, don't get down. We had the most triumphant win last week. I'm not going to let you get down. This is just a little annoyance. It's just a little mosquito bite. That's all that this is. They're not in control. Thune barely eked this one out. This was a squeaker. He doesn't have control of the conference. By the way, our numbers are growing. Think of the type of senators that we have there. Marco Rubio behind Rick Scott. Ted Cruz got behind Rick Scott. Marsha Blackburn got behind Rick Scott. We are multiplying.
We have great, great names in the U.S. Senate. Jim Banks, for example, is going to be a new member, and he is excellent. Maybe one of the best ones we have out of this entire class. Bernie Moreno is going to be terrific. I can vouch for that personally. And it's going to be a process. But right now, John Thune is running the U.S. Senate. And if he fails to deliver, we will replace him. And we'll do it quicker than Kevin McCarthy. Because, by the way, Blake, can you read Senate rules? I think three senators can force a leadership vote. I think.
The American people are back in charge and the Senate doesn't like it. They are so terrified of you. They have to be in their little club without transparent leadership elections. And I want somebody, anybody, a breathing human being to tell me, email me freedom at charliekirk.com. You are welcome on my show. Why the U.S. Senate should do private and secret ballots. Somebody tell me.

I have some very heavy news here. I'm going to read from a PragerU tweet.
I heard about this last night. I didn't want to say anything. I need all of you guys to go to prayer right now of intercession. On Tuesday morning, Prager U founder and our dear friend Dennis Prager suffered a serious back injury following a fall. He's resting in a local Los Angeles hospital as doctors assess treatment options. We will keep you informed of his condition. In the meantime, Dennis welcomes the healing power of your prayers. So please pray for Dennis and we'll
It's a very, very heavy situation there. So please, that is from PragerU who just sent out a tweet. And we welcome all your prayers of my friend and great mentor, an amazing person, Dennis Prager. So very tough. Email us as always at freedom at charliekirk.com and subscribe to our podcast. Open up your podcast application and type in Charlie Kirk Show. There's so much news here today, but let me just say, and I'm curious,
Is it constitutional to have secret ballots? Maybe. But shouldn't they be subject to freedom of information requests? Shouldn't they be subject to the American? I mean, I might be getting cute by half here. Blake says, yes, it is constitutional. This is a private party action. All right. The essence of what I'm saying is that it certainly is not defensible through any sort of standard that we apply to anything else. You are there as a representative of Congress.
voters. Blake says it's a private party action. Fair enough. However, I want any senator to come on this program to tell me why you will not tell your voters who you voted for. It's because you are terrified of justifying your vote. If Thune or Cornyn or whoever was the best option ever, then you should say that. Do you notice one interesting thing? Almost every single person who voted for Rick Scott told you they were voting for Rick Scott.
We knew that Rick Scott was coming in with 13 votes. Now, isn't that interesting? We knew who was voting for Rick Scott, but we didn't know who was voting for Thune or Cornyn. Why? Because Rick Scott is a justifiable option in the public eye. Rick Scott is a defendable position. Whereas John Thune, they know people would face primary challenges, state GOP revolts. No transparency reflects a fear of the people. And it only furthers transparency.
this narrative that the American people do not trust their leaders. Now in the rules, five senators in writing can force a party conference. So maybe that's what can happen here. But again, John Thune's majority leader, we're going to have a little bit of a grace period. And then it's game on. If by January 31st, we do not have a full cabinet. And I know that is a tall order.
Then that's going to be on Thune. You have to use every, you got to go 24 hour concurrent nominations. We need to change the Senate rules and allow you to do more than one nomination at a time. This archaic way of doing business. Okay. We're going to do the attorney general and that's going to take us a week and a half. Then we're going to do SEC DEF and that's going to take a week and a half. And then we're going to do department of the interior. You can do concurrent enrolling nominations because the hearings happen in committee. They do not happen just with the entire body.
This is why Trump won. What you just saw is the reason why Donald Trump won. People have lost faith in their government. And so they said, Donald Trump, you may talk dirty, but I'm hiring you to go do a dirty job. Donald Trump, you might talk plainly,
But you're a fighter and we want trust restored in our government. And I find it to be reprehensible that these senators ask us for our vote and they ask us for our support. And that's all fine. Okay, I'm sure some of them are decent people. I know some of them. And yes, some people were public for John Thune. The point I'm making, though, is that every person for Rick Scott was public for Rick Scott. It is an indefensible position to vote for
Vote for somebody and not tell your voters you're voting for. Can someone come and tell me the case for John Thune? I want to hear it. There's the great Jack Posobiec right there. And some people say, oh, you know, he's a friend. Okay, fine. Great. Sure. We are up against a uniparty cartel, everybody. And this is why Trump won. So now pressure's on Thune. Let's see what you got, man. Because if not, you will be primaried and you will be taken out. And it will be, it'll make Eric Cantor look like child's play. The whole new movement is ascendant.
We got Elon Musk liberated. We got Twitter. We got X. Mainstream media is dying. We got podcasting. We got Megyn Kelly. We got Bongino. We got Shapiro. We got Walsh. We got Candace. We got Bannon. We got Beck. We got the whole program has changed. Long gone are the days where you could do your little secret ballots. And so the eyes are on you. And as a certain newspaper says, democracy dies in darkness.

Joining us now is a great man who I'm thrilled that he is nominated to be ambassador to Israel, Governor Mike Huckabee. Governor, congratulations. But first, do you want to comment on our mutual friend, Dennis Prager, that we are in prayer for right now? Yeah, I certainly do. I heard that he's had a very serious accident. Dennis Prager is one of the great minds of our day. On Friday,
questionably one of the most important thinkers and articulators of strong conservative movement. Dennis and I co-hosted a trip that took a group of pastors to Auschwitz and then to London to see the bunkers of World War II and finally to the Reagan Library because we wanted to help people understand
exactly what happened with particularly John Paul II, Margaret Thatcher, and Ronald Reagan, and why that they were so instrumental. And quite frankly, John Paul II, maybe more than anyone, in helping to bring about the complete collapse of the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe communism.
Prager is just brilliant. He's always on the cutting edge of thinking and speaking. And so I think I joined with everybody in saying, let's pray for Dennis Prager because we need him. We need him as much as we've ever needed him. So thanks for even bringing that up.
And he's a dear friend of mine. I'm still kind of processing all this. I've listened to every one of his fireside chats. I've listened to his 230 hour Torah commentary verse by verse. And so I, it's just, it's been a numbing week, governor from the historic victory to all to this. And it is a segue actually to your, your announcement. Dennis is a massive and
and thoughtful advocate for the state of Israel. You are now nominated as the U.S. ambassador to Israel. And I could tell you right now, if Dennis was on the radio today, he would be cheerleading with pom-poms that Governor Mike Huckabee is the U.S. ambassador to Israel. Governor, congratulations on that. And tell us the stakes, what you plan to do, and fill our audience in, please.
Well, Charlie, I appreciate it. Let me begin by just saying thank you to you. I'm convinced that without Turning Point USA, I'm not sure Donald Trump would have won. He certainly would not have won with the landslide that he did. And the mandate that he goes in with is without doubt largely due to the efforts that Turning Point has done across the country. So kudos to you, my friend, and all of the incredible people at Turning Point.
You guys, on Inauguration Day, January 20th, you ought to take a deep bow and just recognize, yes, you did it. You did it well. Well, thank you. It's the Lord. I really believe it was the hand of God, but please continue. Well, it was, but God's hands sometimes need a little help down here, and he calls on us to be his hands and his feet, and you guys have been just that.
I'll tell you, this has been a kind of a shocking 24 hours for me. And it was almost exactly 24 hours ago when President Trump gave me the call. I wasn't expecting it. It wasn't something I'd been lobbying for. But when he asked, quite frankly, the one position that the president could have asked me to do that I was willing and really ready to do,
because of my passion for the state of Israel, which goes all the way back to 1973. That's when I made my first trip to Israel. I was still a month shy of my 18th birthday, and it was life changing for me. And since that time, I've been probably 100 times to Israel. I've taken tens of thousands of people to visit Israel, gotten to know most of the government officials there.
I have walked from Dan to Beersheba and have been throughout the country. And it's a place I just truly love. And I believe it is a special place because God made it special. And so without any apology in saying this, you know, I'm a simple guy. I believe the scripture. Genesis 12, those who bless Israel will be blessed. Those who curse Israel will be cursed. I want to be on the blessing side, not the curse side.
And this for me is an extraordinary honor, but it's also a very weighty responsibility that the president has asked me to do. And I am honored to do this for my country and for my president. Well, governor, and let's not forget, you are going to be in the ambassador's residence in Jerusalem, not Tel Aviv. And that is incredibly significant. Please explain to our audience.
Well, I was there when the embassy was moved on that incredible day. I wept because for years I've been praying some president would actually have the courage to do this. And every president, and it goes back, Democrats and Republicans, Bill Clinton, George Bush, it didn't matter who, all said they were going to move the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. They never did. They always found an excuse or a reason, oh, it'll create tension and hardship.
Donald Trump did it. And I'll never forget, my daughter was press secretary. I happened to be at the White House and I had a visit just one-on-one with President Trump in the Oval Office and we were chatting. And I said, Mr. President, thank you so much for moving the embassy. Most people didn't think you'd ever do it because no one else has done it. And I know that every bit of pressure was for you to not do it from the State Department, from other nations and its leaders.
everywhere. People said, don't do it. Even the senators and people in the House who always voted for it to happen, deep down, they were afraid of it. So I asked him, I said, why did you do it? Charlie, I'll never forget what he said. This is classic Trump, and you know him very, very well. So you'll understand how accurate this is. He looked at me, he said, well, because I said I was going to do it, and it's the right thing to do.
Simple as that. And I thought, now that is an executive. That is a leader. That is a decision maker. And I just realized what an extraordinary blessing we had is having Donald Trump at the White House. And I was hurt, deeply wounded when the 2020 election was called the other way. But I got to tell you, I'm ecstatic that he goes back in ready to go.
picking some incredible people to be on his team. Totally. And I believe he will have the most impactful and successful presidency perhaps in all of American history. Now, I hope everyone understands some ambassadorships are ceremonial. They're given as friends of the president, people that kind of want a nice end to their career.
You could think of a Caribbean island to the Turks and Caicos, Cayman Islands, maybe even Austria. Ambassador to Israel is a completely different ballgame, everybody. Governor, can you explain? You are actively involved in diplomacy, in high stakes negotiations, in representing American interests, not just Israel, but you are really at the tip of the spear for all Western Arab communications because it has to go through the prism of American-Israeli relations.
And so this is not just kind of, okay, Governor Huckabee, you know, get a nice suntan down in Jamaica. You are going to be on the front lines of some of the most consequential geopolitical decisions. Please, Governor. Well, it is a very strategic role because so much of world peace is made or is broken in that little area of the Middle East, particularly that sliver of real estate we called Israel, no bigger than the size of New Jersey.
Israel occupies one 644th of the landmass of the countries that are controlled by Muslim leadership. I mean, that's staggering when you think about it. So for every inch of Israeli land and real estate, there are 644 pieces of land controlled by Muslim countries.
When people say Israel needs to give up some land to attain peace, they have no idea what they're talking about. It's a dumb statement. The role that I will play is to try to help extend the Abraham Accords, which I don't think President Trump ever got proper credit for. It was an extraordinary breakthrough, truly amazing the breakthrough that that presented. And there are pieces of that that still need to happen, particularly with Saudi Arabia, with Qatar and with other countries.
And so that'll be part of what I hope to be able to play a role in. But, you know, the job of the ambassador is not to represent himself. It's not to so much put forth what I think. I'll be there to represent this administration, this president, and the policies that he was elected to carry out. So I've been asked, well, what do you think you're going to want to do? I said, I'm going to want to do what the president wants me to do because that's what an ambassador does.
One of the reasons he had some challenges in his first term, there were people he had appointed to office. I think the first secretary of state that he had is a good example, who forgot that no one had elected him to anything. The only person that got elected on November the 5th was Donald J. Trump. So he's the person that the people have said, you're our leader. Anyone he appoints or employs,
It is our job to carry out the policies that he was elected by the American people to put forth. Governor, thank you for your leadership. And I've always wanted to see this. I pray I'll see you next year in Jerusalem. So thank you. Charlie, I can't wait for you to come. And I look forward to hosting you when you do. Thank you for all you do. God bless you, my friend. I couldn't be more thrilled at this decision. Thank you, Governor. Congrats again.
Election Day 2024 is in our rearview mirror and conservatives are fired up that President Trump heading back to the White House in January. But our fight isn't over and I'm asking you for your help. Conservatives for lower health care costs are warning us that big pharma and the far left are scrambling to fast track a big government scheme to eliminate free market forces and health care before the GOP can take control of the White House and Congress.
This pharma-backed scheme called de-linking would hand a massive $32 billion windfall to the biggest drug companies. And guess who would pay? Hardworking American customers, consumers, seniors, and taxpayers. You can help stop Big Pharma's money grab from American seniors and taxpayers by going to pharmawindfall.com right now. Congress must reject Big Pharma's scheme to boost drug companies' profits.
keep drug prices high, undermine competition in health care, and hike health care costs for American people. Please go now to pharmawindfall.com to join this urgent fight. Portions of the Charlie Kirk show are brought to you in part by conservatives for lower health care costs. Well, so Elon Musk has now been appointed to the Department of Government Efficiency, DOGE as they call it.
Vivek Ramaswamy and Elon Musk are going to run the first ever government agency with a self-destruct button. It exists to eliminate itself. Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will have full audit authority of the federal government to find waste, to find duplication of costs, to eliminate them.
And to expose to the American people how the government has been wasting your money. This is something I'm so excited about. It takes someone like Elon and Vivek that have the public's trust, that have this massive platform to be able to show the waste, publicize the waste, and then be able to cut it. Transparency is the agenda that Trump fought for. The Senate does not believe in transparency. The Senate believes in secret ballots. The Senate believes in black box budgeting.
If anybody is against the Department of Government Efficiency like Pocahontas is, they are running a scam. Elizabeth Warren has been very chippy on Twitter saying, oh, you know, Pete Hegseth can't serve because he's a Fox and Friends host. Oh, really? Have you served in the military, Elizabeth Warren? Has she? Jack, I don't think she has. Has Elizabeth Warren served in the military? I must have missed that in her biography. No, no, it's fine. It's fine.
Elizabeth Warren says the Office of Government Efficiency is off to a great start with split leadership, two people to do the work of one person. Yes, this seems really efficient. I mean, at some point, Elizabeth Warren, you should stay out of this one. Have you ever heard of a co-chair? At this point, why do we have a senator from Massachusetts? We could have one senator just do the job to represent Massachusetts. This is a ridiculous thing to say. Why don't we just have that old crow, Markey, represent Massachusetts, whatever his name is. Is it Markey? I think it is. Mackey, Markey, whatever his name is.
The Department of Government Efficiency is one of the most exciting developments and promises made, promises kept by President Donald Trump. He said he was going to empower Elon and empower Vivek. He said he was going to deploy them to the front lines. He said he was going to give them the authority and the capacity to find costs and cut costs. The creation of Doge
Again, will be the first federal program whose goal is to eliminate itself. It exists to shrink government, not grow it. This is a profound historic step back to the founders vision for America, back to the original intent and the original structure that Madison, Hamilton and Jay intended. And the Senate is not going to like a lot of this, but too bad. The people are in charge. Do you see this?
We are liberating the consciousness and the awareness and the visibility of our government to lead a citizen reclamation of what was once ours. Donald Trump was the tip of the spear, and Elon and Vivek are following right after. Then we have Governor Noem at DHS.
We've Lee Zeldin at EPA. Got Elise Stefanik at the UN ambassadorship. We got Tom Homan doing the border czar. I mean, this is a team that is going to swarm D.C. And look, you're not going to win every battle. Some of these guys are going to have oppo dropped on them. And, you know, look, you're going to have a little war of attrition. You don't storm the beaches of D.C. and everyone's going to last six months or a year. You just got to get ready for that. Then it's next man up.
But there has never been a commanding presence of a unified Avenger force to reclaim D.C. in American history like this with a mandate clearly given from the American people.
