Oleksandr Usyk won by a points decision, securing his victory over Tyson Fury in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Usyk has proven his dominance by becoming the undisputed cruiserweight champion and successfully moving to the heavyweight division, defeating top fighters like Anthony Joshua twice and Tyson Fury twice. His resilience, skill, and exemplary character have solidified his status as one of the all-time greats.
Frank Warren initially called the scoring a 'liberty,' suggesting it was unfair. However, it was noted that emotions were high, and he might reconsider his stance after reflecting on the fight.
The ceremonial Cossack sword symbolizes resilience, fortitude, and the spirit of the Cossacks. Usyk carried it into the ring, representing his strength and determination, which he demonstrated throughout his 24 rounds against Tyson Fury.
Tyson Fury's future in boxing remains uncertain. He could either retire or pursue a fight with Anthony Joshua, though the appeal of such a match may have diminished due to both fighters' recent losses. The decision ultimately depends on Fury's ambition and market demand.
Moses Itauma is a 19-year-old heavyweight boxer who has shown exceptional talent, demolishing Dempsey McKean in one round and impressing with his speed, punch power, and athleticism. Many believe he is the next heavyweight great and a future world champion.
Oleksandr Usyk agreed to fight Daniel Dubois in a future match, as confirmed during the post-fight interactions in the ring. This fight is highly anticipated and further cements Usyk's status as a dominant figure in boxing.
Usyk's victory held deep emotional significance for Ukraine, symbolizing resilience and hope for the 37 million people enduring the ongoing conflict with Russia. The presence of Vladimir Klitschko and the ceremonial sword underscored the fight's broader cultural and national importance.

Hi everybody, welcome to the Fight Night Daily Podcast. What a scene, what a fight in Riyadh.
But it was Oleksandr Jusic whose hand was raised at the end and he's done it again. Big questions now, what next for Tyson Fury? I'm standing with John Rawlings, Garethie Davis, Spencer Oliver. Gareth, I'll start with you. What did you witness tonight?
What about that performance from Usyk? Well, we know how good Tyson Fury is and he's a freakish giant in the heavyweight division. But what we witnessed was the brilliance of Oleksandr Usyk. And he slowly carved his way. He had that ceremonial Cossack sword with him in the ring. He sliced the reputation of Tyson Fury tonight. Because Fury came in better conditioned, sharper. It was a better fight than the first one. But he was that knife edge, that sword ahead of Fury the entire fight.
It was incredible, wasn't it? John, you've seen everything in the fight game. What about that? How does that rate? It was a tremendous fight and a great performance from Usyk. It really was. He had to be at the top of his game because Fury brought a very, very good performance along tonight. He really thought that he'd done enough. It didn't turn out to be so. I thought that Usyk was the better man, proved he was the better man. He also proved that when you look back now,
over the history of boxing, he deserves to be ranked as one of the best because what he did tonight was outstanding. Spencer, Frank Warren very soon after it said, well, it's a liberty. The scoring was a liberty. I mean, when he sits down in the clear light of day...
and it clears his head a bit, do you think he'll change his mind? - Yeah, I think he will. Emotions run high. He's had a long journey with Tyson Fury going way back, you know, and I think that, you know, he's took him to the World Title 2015, going over to Hamburg, huge underdog against Klitschko, and then going through the troubles that he went through,
inspiring, inspirational to many people. You know how he come back from that and the trilogy with Deontay Wilder. The guys are emotionally invested. So the rounds that are going close there that me and John are scoring one way and you guys are as well in another way. I mean, we all come to the conclusion it was about two rounds in that fight. We had it 115-130. I think, Gareth, you had it 651.
Yeah, you had it 6-5-1, but we was all sort of like picking. So you can understand the scorecards, you really can. Like 1-16, 1-12, maybe a little wide, but Frank... It's only one swing, though. Yeah, it's only one swing, exactly. But I think it's just emotions with Frank Warren because he's that guy, you know. Their friendship is on the line there as well, so... I mean, all very emotional at the end, Gareth, when you see the Ukrainians in the ring, when you see Vladimir Klitschko alongside Oleksandr Usyk,
These are men of great resilience and great steel and great bravery, aren't they? They are men who are going through things that we don't even know about. We can't even contemplate. In our lifetimes, we haven't been through it. Vladimir and Vitaly Klitschko, I spoke to on a Zoom in their bunker two and a half years ago, weeks after that war with the Russians, where they...
I remember Vladimir telling me one day you feel like you're in a Hollywood movie in your life and the next day you cannot believe the destruction that's been and havoc that's been wreaked upon you by another country. That moment in there tonight will have meant so much for the 37 million people of Ukraine. That ceremonial sword that I mentioned is about the Cossacks, about resilience, about fortitude,
And he's shown all of those in those 24 rounds against Tyson Fury. Totally agree. Totally agree with that. John, um...
Alexander Usyk, an all-time great. Does he merit the title? Absolutely, definitely. He has been the best fighter, the outstanding fighter now of his generation over this last period. Look what he's gone through. He's become the undisputed cruiserweight champion. Others have done that. Holyfield did that. David Haye did that. But then to move on to the heavyweight level,
and do what he's done and beat Joshua twice, beat Fury twice and show himself to be such an exemplary character and do so much for boxing. Yeah, absolutely is one of the all-time greats, definitely. - And what happens now? Do we see John,
Tyson Fury in the ring with Joshua or do we see Tyson disappear into the sunset? Well, that's up to Tyson, isn't it? That depends how much of a burning ambition he still retains to do it. I mean, he wouldn't want to be...
seen as a figure who commanded sympathy he doesn't want to be a fighter on the slide you know and is there still the market for a fight between Fury and AJ you know look at the way AJ lost last time round Fury now with two defeats is there still the hunger for that they may say they want it over here but is it really going to have the cachet that it once did
I don't think it will have the appeal that it once did. But trust me, there's still a huge market for that fight. I think that people have always wanted to see that fight. Yes, they're both coming off losses to this great man now. But you've got to accept, you know, we've got to accept greatness sometimes. You see what Alexander Usyk is. He's done everything. AJ was demolished. Absolutely against Daniel Dubois. But what I'm saying is the casual fan will want to see Anthony Joshua versus Tyson Fury still. You know what?
What's going to be on the line? Absolutely nothing. But we're talking about the best fighting the best. And I'll tell you one reason why we will see it. Because the burning ambition of Turkey Al-Hashayk wanting that fight to happen. But the big fight that's already been agreed tonight. Remember what happened in the ring. Alexander Usyk, Daniel Dubois doorstepped him. Your Excellency, he said. Are we going to make this fight? And he said, yeah, we make the fight. Usyk agreed to fight Dubois in a heartbeat. That man...
is the king. In that moment, it made him the king. Well, for Daniel Dubois, he's got another appointment here in Riyadh on February the 22nd when he'll be fighting Joseph Parker. But tonight, not for the first time, belonged to Oleksandr Usyk.
victorious again and not only has he beaten Joshua twice but he's now beaten Fury twice as well before we go tonight Spencer our warden Moses Itoma what are we seeing in this young man we are seeing the next heavyweight great that's what we are seeing the next heavyweight great 19 years of age and the way that he demolished Dempsey McKean in one round took Filip Hergovic 12 rounds to do that and he gave Hergovic a little run here and there as well it was incredible
clinical. That finish was clinical. You know, timing, you know, punch power, southpaw style, athleticism, everything there. It's not if, but when he wins a world title. But as I keep telling Gareth, it's all about timing. It is about timing. It's always about timing. And my timing on this is I've read so many WTF exclamation marks on what he did to Dempsey McKean. What the flaming heck did we witness tonight?
John, what do you think? Young Moses. He's fantastic, isn't he? I mean, the big thing I thought about Moses and I've thought all along is the speed. You know, when we watched back in the...
back in the 80s into the 90s, Tyson at his very best. It wasn't the power, it was the speed that did it, and that's what Moses has got in stacks. And we spoke to Frank Warren about that after the event tonight, didn't we? And he wanted to particularly mention Moses Tauma because he told us in the week, didn't he, Spence, that...
This was a massive step up for him and look how he just demolished him. He's the next superstar, not just of British boxing, world boxing. That is a fact. Best prospect out there for sure. World champion within a year, I'm going to bet you. I'll have that. How much? Within a year. Yeah, within a year. A big night out.
I'm on that, mate. Spencer Oliver here with us in Riyadh. Ganneth A. Davis and John Rawling. Fabulous listening to you tonight, John, and watching you in action. We watched Alexander Usyk in action and he did it again. The man, it seems, can do no wrong. Happy Christmas from us all.
