Hey, everybody, it's a podcast. It's smartness and you have hosts. Shawn will chase. Here comes here .

he comes good.

Know.

I said yesterday, I said no.

can we guess you .

go first, I go second.

Did you touch my sprinkles? Jay, you have a guess.

I'm still writing IT, but got it's it's somewhere in the star wars star taking fight. No.

I said to him, concept cars.

they should we put a love seat in the toilet?

No, I said, I said concept cars are a waste of time because there's such a tease, like there are these really cool cars and they never make them.

It's like, why don't they just make them? Sometimes they do and .

they take that much of them. I feel like that tesla, uh, super truck, whatever help IT is that looks like a an absolute joke. Run around .

them in the dush identifier. Feeling you are a dick and now it's yeah looks like a .

silver eighties tank or something yeah .

I love tracking. I love IT because you do you do get to see like where are all the where are the dush, but they're there there's one there that you can just stay away.

IT does look like a concept car and then they went .

to production on like is .

the is but some of the concept cars that like all these companies make, they're so cool and they're like, okay, well.

where do you get one of those and .

they never make .

him sure it's like, tour.

Well, so what they do in the fashion world is the work and then make stuff just for the fashion show. This handy, for instance, can't be found.

Jason, i'm gonna and will please come back, but you're going to be in new york A A Manda and may coming over for dinner next week. What good .

time night .

wednesday .

come over. Wonderful, wonderful. jay. Would you say you're you're the cutting edge of fashion, by the way, because I noticed you wearing some rag on bone genes which remind of me of twenty eleven and I thought.

here's my guy this that things are great back .

here in twenty eleven. Anyway, listen, we could do this forever all day and i'm sure I guess is just revised by what we're I can tell you something that I am unriveted when she's performing. I am riveted in by riveted, I mean, generally laughing the entire time.

I think it's it's so rare when or is so special when when a performer comes along that just kind of constant every time you see them, they exceeded expectations and then they just surprise you with their comedy. SHE is somebody who makes you laugh for a moment, one, and then the next is not chair. And SHE makes you laugh in ways that you're like an end.

SHE has that unique thing also, of every time you hear a joke, not not only your laughing, you're thinking, I can't believe I didn't think of that is so brilliant and and he keeps topping herself. She's had a million specials. He had a new special sorry.

what color 就是 i .

guess he has a new special that just came out on HBO max, or whatever they call IT on main eleven in. But he really, really rocked herself this year in the ultimate rose of time berdy you guys, it's the none other than the most hilarious.

He later, oh .

my lady, more, what are you? Are the are you in the back .

of a coffee .

shop store .

podcast studio? I'm visiting in late and I wasn't going to fuck around with you guys. I was not going to trust my wifi at my hotel. I needed like a real .

studio. A, O, A.

no, I live in. Send Lewison you. Did you move back .

to say who is full time? Did I did? I went back .

in covet just to hang out with my parents and my family, and then IT lifted. And I was just like, no one even knows i'm here. I can just go to L. A. And people only think of in new york and people or new york think of me, huge with in certain parts .

of we have that .

we have the .

highest crime. But it's really that .

can be true. That's going to be like a per that's .

going on there .

probably carjack kings and murder, murder.

Well, I guess that I guess that's alarming.

It's not errors at third base. You get that million ary on over there. No good for you.

Yeah, but I see you just got avoid parts of town, but it's some it's a segregated city. It's not the greatest for that. So you just yeah yeah we have issues and can we revisit .

my lesson um on cans in the city .

mi yeah I was in I was still hamed by IT.

I went to sort of a blackout and I don't really remember what I learned you know.

IT should .

be fast. Kansas city is in kansas or in missouri. So IT struttings the border .

between the two states. Oh.

no, I thought there .

were two separate ones. I think .

there's two other gray on this .

just like this. So fusing.

I don't know if it's one that separate, but I know I think they're separate. They have to be separate because they are indifference. You can't have a city cut into .

today and maybe .

what about what about many applys?

It's not up there.

It's okay. So says I just google says .

that remains .

separate.

IT says it's too separately incorporated cities, but together, along with number of other cities, discover as part of the kinds of city metropolitan .

area .

incorporated but is a picture of a shown as a strong the border acy yeah and if so, like where .

partially there's a river in between them and then partially IT just goes right .

down the lines. But one has .

the chiefs .

and one has math. I .

way .

to as .

the royals I .

think .

I .

think issa, it's kind of city, missouri is the one that's like everyone knows about in kansas city, kansas is next to IT.

Yeah, it's fair. Kansas city, missouri is for the chiefs. Kansas city, kansas is probably .

for the .

royals.

correct? I don't. Is that true? Boy, is that I can? Can I tell .

they are they play in in misery?

It's measure. Yes, it's on the other side thing. This is on one side and kansas cities on the other. And I did you started in comedy in kansas city, so I know, I should know. I went to school in kanzas and learn in university, kansas, and I don't know .

these things.

Yeah OK OK. Yes, that's not kansas university though. Home, the.

I know IT, but they say, K.

U, it's none of them make where I know.

I don't .

really like. I gotta get out of there signin everything.

Hey, guys could .

just take a.

do we feel associated on this? Do feel guy, baby, how are you?

I still little confused. I can do a separate google later.

OK. Nicky, obviously we want to get to the rose because it's it's interesting and you've talked about IT .

ado you and you must be so I well know not going to be born .

to me because I need I I saw you like you were incredible and was on the first .

met you was on the rob law? No.

but but I made a big impression.

I was .

the jokes and I still read today. You said, said, deliver as deliver paper. You said, sean hayes, oh my god, sh William Grace was the best you could do. I.

I like.

like a that job you did yeah.

because that's a good one that you can just use for anything like you. Like, yeah, I talked about, like I bt about my boyfriend and then we breaks up and date other people. And then I look back at him and I just think of, my god, like after dating all these guys and just like he's the best I can do.

right so I feel cycle that .

one yeah.

that works. But I found out on your back stage, I just think .

your history lot, well.

thanks these roles that they they become a place to discover people but I feel like you were already discovered. But for some reason, this last one, everybody acts like they they found you. But it's like, but its negotiation.

She's been around forever and she's been brilliant forever. So what do that I feel like the to be like weight. I've been here. What you guys are talking about.

I didn't feel that way. I kind of was like, yeah, this i've never been like, what is everyone gonna notice? And I just kind of, I really just take what comes to me and I never rarely want to like fight for people to care about me.

I want people to care about me on their own time yeah ah so i've kind of been like, okay, when they do, they do and and felt pretty relaxed about IT but this was I mean, he wasn't sane. IT was just like kind of an overnight thing that I never expected what happened in my career. I always expected IT just to be very slow and gradual.

And I kind of like the level of fame I had achieved is comfortable not that recognized. Ed, all my life isn't like disrupted by IT ever. There's some perks to .

IT I want for .

nothing and i'm just good. It's like I can say no to things that I want but now it's like IT was of a huge bump overnight and i'm sure you guys have have experienced .

in youth careers as well .

and it's just a more people yeah take .

a lot of sometimes I put them all together and .

make a nice fat like wait so so naked you find like now you're the airport and people like, people like rose me, burn me yeah .

they don't. They don't say that, thank god, because I don't IT would be so mean coming out right away. And sometimes I I will go there.

But no, thank god they don't do that. They just say, do we go to camp together? You know that kind? Yes, because they usually look like shit when i'm traveling.

So I don't really look that right. I don't. I really do not look the, I always steal that.

learn that the ducks said years ago, I used IT all the time. People go when they had that moment of confusion to O, I think I knew you ago, yeah is to work at subway .

around the and everyone's frequented a subway .

and they're and they are maybe maybe you say.

yeah.

that's going to be working in this.

don't guys I the reason I ve never seen a rose, I think, is because I I it's so because I think that poor person is going to have all these very good natured jokes, right? The hard hitting jokes. But but the whole everybody knows the game here is that we're going to like to say no to things about but like for the most part, that percent doesn't know these people. And so like where do these? I just don't know how that goes down OK for the subject.

I think I think you have you can opt to not .

be a part of IT and .

you to be you what can .

you say no to even to being there, like basically not be attending your funeral effectively and just have to be I yeah then be weird .

if you're OK this is have a nightwear, should not do so and the knowing that he's at home .

going like .

what .

got there be pretty .

funny yeah the person .

has to like, pretend to laugh the whole time and pretend to be kind of like.

like feelings do get hurt like you can go in thinking, oh, they're only gonna go this far and then they go further. I know if i've seen that happened when they don't plan on going there. No.

they that's really the only way to get to the huge laves too, is what to get super uncomfortable, right? yes.

And to say that, like I went some places on the time, pretty rose that I thought other people would go to um and they did not and I was only one that kind of said those names or brought up those subjects that were kind of sore for him and you and IT is crazy like i've seen old rose clips like, I don't like to work for myself. Ves someone I will come up on my own feet, get out of here.

But when I was preparing for this rose, I was like, OK try to channel l what you've done in the past. You've got, you've gotta watch what people like about I don't even I just do IT and then I don't watch IT again. So like, watch IT again and see what you bring to this because we've been four years since I done so.

I watched one and I was like, who the fuck do you think you are next to people? Yeah, I told Alice, bald win all of this. Like, what? Like, I just didn't recognize this girl.

And i'm like, she's got balls, but she's also like a psychopath. Like, I just didn't. I really didn't. I couldn't believe that I did IT broza. I guess I have to channel that again. And you really just they're set time bridge, just set in your priv a little bit back enough that you can't really see him when you're performing.

Does anybody .

know if any of these roads have ever gone wrong? The subject just like, says, wo wo wow, fuck you and gets up and leaves.

I read the time brady thing, right? A little thing. I I just kind of read little blobs. Was he upset? Do you know?

Yeah think you like he said that he in hindsight kind of regrets. I I don't really he doesn't regret. He was glad did IT, but he didn't know that we would go some places. I don't really know how he feels about IT, but I I totally see what he means because I think you go into these things thinking that there you just don't know what people will dig up about you and see and you when they study and look at your .

face that but no one's ever gotten up and stopped IT in the middle of IT and just like left and just got.

yes, I think there was one joke at a comedy central, one where I was about, I was like a paul Walker joke that ludibras was there and his friends with him, obviously, and he got up and like off stage, I think, but they cut IT later. I think there was something .

like that that happened. Yeah, you know, one of my favorite was, I don't know what happened. SHE was so funny. Lisa lampon, eli SHE was really, really funny. And the shit, yeah, really, what happened?

He does self SHE just like self helpful. Ks, now, so she's like a mova tional speaker now. But SHE got out of IT because he was like.

it's too mean yeah. SHE SHE was .

one of the one .

of my favorite jokes that he said during the roast of William shatner when SHE was going through his his credits, you know, when he goes, member tivo, when before, you know, before dvr, there was T O yeah, we got and and if you like something, I would suggest other things, you know and so he goes up there and he goes, yeah, Williams, shatner. I tried to, I tried A T V O T J hooker once, and T V O S suggested I punched myself in the.

See, that's great and .

is a great job.

And then got something off the air for a while. You can have a .

some distance. A T was Scotty just an violence raged throughout the whole .

wilsher roast. No, he washed. Yeah, yeah. He enjoy. Betty. Wait was on the panel SHE got told, like really crass jokes that was so funny to see bey White tell ras jokes.

yeah, I love that. One of my old, from one of the early ones that was on come in central years ago, was something about andy dick, who said, in much of a jeff, I wanted fuck andy, andy dick with b artha dig.

yeah, that fucking there was something.

And then they cut to be artha like.

yeah, we actually shots are always the best. Yeah, that really sells IT too. Is that you gotta a have the person that you're making fun of when they're cutting to them live that really would like, make or break what people thought of your joke. If they're laughing along.

we'll be right back.

All right, back to the show.

So how did you first get where they just like hate? Listen, who's a really who's got a really shitty this position? Nicky glazer, let's get her in her.

Yeah, shit. She's really mean to people. yeah. IT started early.

like I I remember I wrote, you know, jokes for people who are doing the rose early on. And then I did. Jeff had to all the burn on come central. And I had a show central the time. So they threw me on that.

I had really good showing on, knew I was a place that I would really excel, and I needed to prove myself to comedy central for them to even consider me. So I worked really hard to do that T, V show. And I did a great showing.

And then and then people don't really want to do rose. So it's like, you know they probably asked what 你 comings that year, they assay me summer, and then they noted zero and they probably didn't want to do IT. And so they called up me and last minute, you know you get booked like a week before, and you go OK, and then you have a good one, and then they ask you back the next time.

And every time I can go, I don't know if I do this because it's so much work and I would really, I would always have like a mental breakdown right before IT and think, what am I doing? I'm GTA bomb. And try and have any attacks about IT, I don't know. A few guys relate to that where you say yes to things, and then you do them, you go, don't let i've never do this again.

Jb, T R T R, A rule that met .

damon d taught .

us is apply this. What was bending matter, but that he said, he said, if somebody asked you to do something, and you can start using this from this moment for nicky, if somebody asks you to do something like two month down, six months coming to give, show about the thing, say to yourself, ask yourself what I wanted, do IT tomorrow.

哦。

that's so good. It's good tomorrow. No.

unbelievably effective.

But you know what I would, even though I would go, do you want to do IT now? sure. Because even tomorrow, sometimes I like, i'll be different tomorrow.

Yes, always that such a great. But but this though, I I need time to prepare, so I don't know how to answer that. You, if so, what as I always want to do IT because I like the exposure, the potential of IT.

And then you get in IT and it's destroying my relationships, destroying my life. It's it's making myself debt all the time and then and then it's over. And like that was the great as I can't need to do that again.

And then yeah, everyone in my life goes, what do you mean you want to do that again? But this time around, I actually implemented a system where I was happy the whole time. And I have I know how to do IT now, and I can't wait to do IT again. But the three .

before destroyed my life. I totally relates that I ve none of us, the three us is a set up. But I I every any time asked to kind of go and how something you know charity thing or whatever, much more what is network, but be every single time I do IT, I become a bigger and bigger grouch leading up to the day, leading up to the moment, and i'm fuck in the worst place.

And then you do IT, and everything works and you like, that was fucking great. And everybody in your life is like, yes, fuck men. You are a dick for the last two weeks. Yes.

it's the dread. Every time we ve told me that no one hates what they are going to do more than you all the time. And then when I do IT, even when i'm like about to go, when i'm on stage with a microphone, have in the time of my life, unless I like bomb, you know, like like something ingy totally wrong. But as soon as i'm performing a minute, i'm doing great, but dread constantly up until that moment. And I think that's just the way I goes.

Nicky, do you allow yourself to think because you're saying earlier or you really happy with where you find yourself like you've got you've got you've got the right amount of you've got an amount of relevance that you really enjoy, but also a nice amount of anonymity where you still, you know, you can go to the grocery story. C ex, do you allow yourself to think forward, you know, a year, five years, ten years? Do you allow to do like yourself to think about goals and stuff like that to.

you know, when I want to ask you guys about IT to do you have goals or do you just keep saying yes to things .

as you go and see .

where IT takes you? I just say yes to .

where IT takes me. If you look credit.

I we do a lot of switch backing. You know you .

don't this is for another podcast, but i'm a freak about goal setting and writing .

them down .

and know for years and years and years. Show show is a task master. He's just like our joke is chen takes like if the email comes to three of us about subscapularis within twelve seconds before he thinks of his answer yeah.

I like to just check IT off my lister.

I don't like to .

have anything in my inbox. I'm just I absolutely .

clean inbox .

to respond.

Yes, my email has .

just moved to taxi. You like the goal thing, the goal st thing. Since i'm like twenty two, twenty three years old i've been writing down goalless and there's stream a conscious goalless st like i'll right down on paper.

I go one, two, three and all just number as they come in my head and know there is a stupid est. Things like, I ve got to lose five pounds. I gotto visit my mom more. I've ttl a make IT, you know.

I got ta connect with this person about this.

Exactly my member is so. My mom died at first.

but years good.

Anything in there .

about .

your dad license? And I very sad, but to do.

But anyway, so I would do all these things. And and then at the bottom, I put a lifetime goals. This is like when I was twenty two, twenty, and like, I want to host at night life, I want to be a David letter man.

And this ba and I went to therapy like years ago. He goes, don't tell me a catastrophe happened. I go, when he goes, they all came true. I every single thing on my list came true. And that.

yeah so I .

got real depressed because IT was, was that .

what you are? Chair, find, find a beam.

find a beam.

beam kick .

the regarded immediately trying to get the roof off to .

know avail as i'm doing and .

i'm still checking IT off death. I noted I noticed something about the way that you described. You sounded like you were from brook you since i'm twenty two, twenty two years yes.

so anyway so any of the most obvious thing in the world but it's IT is an obvious ous until hear somebody say he was like, well, you just got to make new ones and I was like, yeah, oh yeah I guess I just got to keep thinking .

then i've been trying to make manifest stuff and i'm doing doing these manifest meditations where it's like, just picture your life with the thing you want. You feel that is already happened, and then you're dripped off to sleep and you try to get the feeling not that you're doing the thing, but that you are live in a world in which this is what you is already have.

Like to c.

it's what is his name? Never gorgeous, never god. That's how everyone says his name on the youtube. But yeah, to put his help, yeah no.

Here's a crazy story. I have really facts of these guys, let me tell you.

So if you go back to back.

yeah and then that you .

want to be to be already feed .

to be and we left to .

go on the beam.

You not want to take a hint.

love you on the big.

Still writing my goals down.

just the other rope go.

Anyway, when I was a kid, I was obsessed the show soap.

remember soap one OK.

So in in the opening credits when they used to like rehash the whole story of the show and the opening credits over over every week, they would say, these are the states, and these are the campus and bob ababa, and this is soared. And so these are the tates. These are the kind of the tates for the rich family, the camps with the poor family, or of the lamina classroom.

So the states, they would show this establishing shot of this beautiful houses, birth house, in this gord's name, or that I was, oh my god, I group shit chh poor, nothing. Everybody knows my story. So then I was like, I would race to the TV every every week to watch that opening.

I was obsessed with this. So about eight, seven, eight years later, skarting, I had a few to drink. And we're going on a rabid hole on youtube of old openings like eighty, eighty second.

And we saw jesson's. We saw, like, whatever you like, facts of life and whatever the hogan family, and like, dance and like, you know, all of them. And I was like, oh, guide, we have to youtube the store, the opening critic of silk. I was obsessed to this house of the kid. So we opening, like, these are the taste, and these are the campus and the house right behind mind.

Oh my god.

my god.

it's this stuff is real.

And if so, if nicky, if you're manifest the and you are allowing yourself to dream a little bit of the future, yeah and what does .

that look like that that's what i'm struggling like. I kind like the way things are. And so I I have an apartment I don't like.

I don't own a home. And so like, you know what? I should own a home. So let me just visualize the homine and then I think about like we got ta get these cabinets really done and then i'm like, I ve got to call some like living in IT and then I go, I got to call the landscaper like, there's so much work that starts happening. I go, I don't want this house, like let me take me back to my apartment so i'm kind of like, I just really like the way things are now, so I feel but I have goals of like no S L, I think is a good goal, like hosting. That's a .

great .

goal for this happened. I think IT IT happened. There's I think .

it's .

not yet.

but there's been talk the whispering, thank you. okay.

So what happened that's .

really .

manifest. So I got you. I don't know, I don't know what sex, but what what I will in Jason, do you guys all IT up?

I I do. I mean, I sort of keep an I am where i'd like to maybe be headed towards, but it's not that specific. It's just I just want to be chAllenged with stuff that is right at the edge of what i'm able to handle. And I know that there's gona be a day soon where i'm like, fuck this throat back and just relax yeah and so I know that's going to come. So while i'm actually feeling this fuel, why not let IT go.

let the same way towards IT?

Yeah I i'd gone. I do the same thing.

nicky, that you do, which is in sometimes I do super consciously. I actually set out to do IT, but I do the same thing of sort of manifesto. And I find that I do kind of manifested in real time, most of the time, and it's been super, super, super effective for me. I don't know why.

and I think I did IT. That's what why my I when I was in high school, I used to just tell my friends, oh well, I used to be to obsess with day Matthews and my friends all were too and I would say, oh well, just like meet him someday and like, i'm going to tell him like how I feel they were like, how would you meet him and I like what i'm gona be famous and they were like what they just like. I remember their incredulousness ss of like that. I thought that and I was so obvious to me that that was gonna happen and that i'll be his fear.

I the same thing about letter man. I to think I I used to wash letter man at night um when I was acquired in the eighties like in high school and I watch him on a twelve thirty and I think like a Better letter is going to think i'm really funny yeah and IT work does ah and IT worked out yeah that kind of should I just and maybe that sort of dumb confidence of youth and I don't know.

but but you do you want to pursue I know you ve done tons of acting if IT is that important to to pursue that lane as much as stand up .

and everything else? Yes no. I mean, I think that's what I started pursuing initially in high school.

And I was like, how am I gonna a get i'm going to meet? I was that was my real goal. Like being on TV is I only way I could be IT is as his sphere. And when I made and I said the word sphere several times of, I tried to be really embarrassing.

Well, where did where did that you were you living with a did you was your family super encouraging of your humor? And like, was mom and dad funny? Where you were your like, where did the confidence come from that like, oh, you know, if I think of something funny, I should share IT because that usually works out.

That did not come until way later. So I was like, OK, I be an actress and I was not getting the parts in school place and I didn't even go to like a sitter school. So I was like, you know, getting town's person b and stuff. I was getting feedback like, this is for you, like to act .

and another person a always .

b and and I would think I would get the lead. And then I be at the bottom, the list, I would cry. And then I, oh, guess I would do field hockey. And IT was terrible sport, so is like, didn't really. But I was so depressed that IT wasn't going to work out. In addition, for theater school didn't get in anywhere and I was really like I guess i'll just like I have to kill me like I really was thinking that because what's the point of living if you're not going to be on TV and performing in some way, but I no way to do IT. I just thought acting is the only way idea there other things and .

even know my business .

and my mom was just a homemaker and um and so they were just they were always supportive and I come from a really funny family and they have great taste in comedie. So I was always consumed my dad like inner to me to call in when I wasn't like eighth grade and so you got to check out the show and then that changed my mom like life and sign felt I was obsessed with and and friend.

I I was really, I loved comedy, but I wasn't stand up, didn't I did didn't do much for me. I just wasn't even paying attention to IT. And then I went to college and I was like long first.

Or i'd like a terrible eating disorder because I was pretty much like I just wanted die. My life sucks and nothing's going the way. I want IT to and have to go to college and figure out what what I wanted do for a living.

But I don't want to do anything except perform, and i'm not good at that. And everyone, me, i'm not good at IT like I was taking voice lessons s to be a singer and my voice teacher, he took my mom IDE instead. This is a waste of your money. SHE doesn't .

have A I was getting.

I was getting yes. And so I just so discouraged. And then I was, I just got an eating disorder that I was like, all just die of this.

And I really wanted to. I was really like, slowly, just dying. And then I was hospital ized. I was right after high school, I was going up to college. I was hospitalized over the summer and and then I know needed to get out of there and so I lied and like, I just got to go away to college and then I can not kind of die off alone without people model ing. 哦。

my god.

it's so sad, it's so sad. But I really was like, what's the point? I just didn't know whats the point of life would be if I wasn't a performer because also I wanted. I feel like my parents really pay attention to TV in a way that I was wanted to be paid attention to. And I think that's why I wanted to get on TV was that even though they love me so unconditionally, I just didn't feel IT the way that .

I was just a very sensitive child.

Anyway.

the great how come love? I was still working on IT, but I have theories that they do. But the love seems to amp up a little bit when I bring them to the time brady rose and you. There's a little bit more of text messages from my mom. I've always love you like final .

and o that's really .

more than your father.

And we will be right back.

And now back to the show.

Nick, what an interesting story. How did you, how did you overcome that enormous? How from high school.

the cause was touch bottom and then.

but I was like, ready to fuck and go every night. I would be like, please die in asleep because I was just hungry all the time, and I know what it's like to be hungry. J, and and so.

Now she's going look.

now she's cooking time deal in e and so though .

in the eight .

and so it's yeah.

I was I was waiting for that to blight just and IT because I was called all the time I was hungry. I looked insane, so I couldn't really make friends because everyone just like this girl is like a ton who looks so weird and looks so brittle and was about to die. And my hair is falling out.

And I just and i'm my freshman year of college. I don't have any friends and I need to make some. So I like, I think like, I just turned up my personality a lot just because I looked so crazy.

But I needed the only way to make friends was to be larger than life. And so I started being funnier. I just like, IT just was an adaptive.

Now you made yourself .

I did because no one would likely otherwise. And then all of my friends, I got friends because I was funny and really outgoing. And all my friends would say, god, when we first saw you, we were like, who is that role? And then we kind of forgot that you look like that because people would go to my friends.

You're really worried about her. We don't even know you're talking about because I did really just over compensate for how sick I was with my personality. And that's when people start going, you should be a set of comedian once like her that I go o what's that? okay? I mean, knew what I was, but then I google did IT and I saw sr silver men. And then that changed my world. And was.

I just do. I was, what was the thing that inspired youtube, as you said, turn IT up. What was the thing where I know you, your hair fit was your kind of rock bottom? But what what made you?

I didn't want to be made fun of. I wanted to be the first to make the joke about how then I was, or what I wanted to be. So extraordinary, my personality, that no one would notice, how scary I looked, or how concerning.

So I think that was that you, like the fat kid in school, can be the class clown. Or most I had never experienced before, where my looks like made people talk about me and whispers about me and make fun of me. I always, just in high school, wanted to disappear.

I didn't want boys to make fun of me. I just was so scared of any attention. I wanted to attention on stage when I told you you could.

But I really was like, people from high school gorge like you are comedian, like I just kind of was I didn't really, I didn't make big waves in high school. But and then when I turned IT up, that's when people started telling me that. And then as soon as I looked into as, like h, of course, this is IT.

I've always like writing comedy. I have love comedy and then acting. The thing i've found hard was like being someone else.

I really think I was just, I was always trying to run away from who I was. And I finally found something that celebrated. I could say the weird things and the darkest things that I was ashamed of into a microphone. And people like me more because of the things that I hate .

the most about myself. That was really cool, which is the .

reason that mental in this exists because people aren't being honest. And so that really helped me the heel.

But but you the one thing that you did not get generate overnight was, I mean, you're obviously really smart and so that that is something that you probably sort of saved you in the end from a lot of stuff. Who is that? You're not a dummy. Yeah really bright. But when you lost some, when you said hungry all the time, so looks never .

angry.

So then you found then that the thing that was bumming you out internally was actually material and that that is like this is actually comes an asset to you. And that vulnerability is one of the huge keys to comedy. You know, you got to put your hands down a little bit. There's nothing funny about no problem.

say the honest thing and people can even believe you're saying IT because someone most people aren't honest at that level. And so whenever ver whenever i'm on stage and i'm trying a new bit and it's not going well and i've kind of lost the audience and they know that I know I just like my trick for that is just to stop and you say the .

on yeah because and it's so healing and you can't .

lose and you just go that bomb yeah and you guys don't like me anymore, be .

revealing to in that way and be vulnerable and jb often said, there's nothing funny about pack in that like being even being like this is just not fucking funny exactly because fuck.

I like a quick welfare. All takes a shirt off fuck and works fuck and love .

that GLE because I also want to be hot, like, listen world funny. But we all care about looking at that.

And did you get a look at heard about .

this family .

for you? He did is .

good o but yeah, we all care about what people think, like how we look and then people go but you're funny. You don't need to care and it's like, well, IT is a part of IT and it's honestly that's i'm being honest when I say i'm insecure about my look so that's still part of IT for me. I can't help that I do care about my looks.

even though you don't first know.

Everybody does, everybody does in no matter what job in change, right? You are to be cute. But but talking about IT this way, because you, because of the very nature of what you do, people comments, and we live in a world now where we see those comments and we hear that stuff so much more readily.

So of course, that makes sense that you'd be know when people say that member, years ago, some friends, you know, from toronto, I grow. But like all fuck, will all you actors, you guys just care about how you look like? Yes, everybody e's talking .

about IT. When you do something.

they go, fuck you. Look, I got an on camera job on a so people see in there the .

comments there was there isn't saying that their comments under every single clip or video or picture that is of you. David spae told me while ago, he was like, you know, back when I did the hollywood minute during we get update, that was the only time celebrities got like marked useful for like a minute. That was the only time that celebrities s were being made .

fun of ever because I was to do that.

right? okay. So there's like two outlets for IT and now all people that I will say.

I like the way you've all said IT and and I was going to bring this up before when you talked about that you move back to saint Lewis and we had so many on recently who moved back to the main west. And it's made me long for I don't know why recently have is I really long for not living on either coast? I've had this sort of dream IT makes me feel kind of good because there something .

yeah a little does that quote doesn't matter where you go, there you are you going to feel same no matter where you go.

I yeah i'm not looking at that as a remedy for how i'm necessarily feeling. I'm just talking about my daily here .

what to get little yeah in the midwest? No, I I get what you mean. Well, the reason I like IT is because I if i'm in new york, ali, I can do a set every single night and I can feel like i'm not doing enough.

And I I could be doing a set tonight and getting stronger and I could be doing a podcast and but in that loose, there's nothing much going on. So I feel like it's just kind of an escape. I'm a worker lic, and I lock up my liquor on the coast and I go and I can go get IT if I get a key and like deliberately go get.

But it's not just waiting for me in my room in center Lewis. I kind of them away from work and and don't have to dry myself crazy with that. And I can forget that that all that stuff matters when you really are in new ork, unlike you get sucked into the machine of like you've ta do more, it's not enough and comparing yourself more even though they're all waiting for you on instagram to compare yourself to, I feel IT more here, which is good.

Sometimes you when I was doing the rose, I was like, i'll go out early for a month and a half before that to get in the zone of competitiveness and and running my set every night and like feeling like i'm not enough and need to prove myself. But I couldn't do that instance, Lewis. I couldn't just like fly and do the rose. I would have come with this like midwest ease. I needed to come in like strong .

and day like is if you're not working.

like wake up and go into my podcast room, which next to my bedroom do a podcast, then I go to a paddies class, then I go to starbucks and pretend the right and .

then you know that whole famous to do.

That's the thing I don't want to be, is like where I can go to starbuck still and just sit and in a coffee shop. It's come in. I got I gotta really enjoy IT while I got IT.

But yeah, I just sit there in online shop and then I go back home and played my guitar a little bit. Then I go to a voice lesson. I'm still trying to be a singer. So I just, yeah, then I go hanging out with my parents, hang out with my niece and nephews.

desire said, just sort of atrophy way back when and there's .

no desire there at all no there totally is I think that that would be so fun um to do IT.

But it's yes, I exhaust n you can be boring exactly but the .

road is easy for me. I don't know to think about that. I just walk .

on state but also just the creative difference of an an actor has to fit lines that were written before they they come in. So your job is to fit a preexisting character in line as a stand up. It's the total opposite. You are already there and then you're writing lines to fit you and .

that's what I like about IT.

Yeah okay.

but what about the member that I always way to the last second for everything? So that doesn't work in acting. You can be just like, you know, bin jing, your lines right before in memory ing up.

I'm sure sometimes that is the way that has to happen, but there's a lot of preparation in forethought that goes into being an actor and preparing. And I feel like with the same of comedian, as long as i'm just showing up as myself, I can. Get the job done like I don't I don't like a lot of review.

I don't like a lot of rehearsal. I don't like to critique myself because then I start to see the flaws. So we stand up bounders. Like I just be in a conversation and just you know with someone and be like talking about something really sad and and crying and then walk on stage and do IT and then walk off and get right back to IT. I don't have get in a zone IT just seems like a lot of work. And I mean, to now I would get jobs where i'm acting against people like you guys who had been doing IT so long and i'd feel like i'm .

not good enough and their .

self that would come in judging you rock chair for you think you know.

always standing by.

always standing by. Yeah well, I think you you could do whatever you wanted, and certainly now you could. But you probably always, I suspect you always .

could have incredibly dynamic and well suit for all opportunity.

I am so happy for your success. I want to see you doing more stuff. You're so naturally funny. And so funny when I also love about IT is I don't want maybe you doing some of your pocket and up but you don't seem to have fall the trap yet of a lot of stand up who seem to be obsessed with talking about breaking down, stand up, which i'm like, fuck and enough and some of these .

older stand, yes.

what does that me breaking down stand up?

You mean like talking .

about about stand up and how they do and they only talk to other stand and I shut up, man. I don't apologize .

for a joke and cancel culture. And really not that interested in that stuff either. And I think that we like to pat or so. And you know, every artist likes to find out ourselves the back. They had changed the world. But in some of IT does but I I don't know I can just fell into IT and IT fits me but I don't think of IT is stand ups are like above other no. I think sometimes we have to think that because we feel so less than and that's why we do stand up because we didn't fit es.

I can see that. But like all of us are just out here trying to figure that out. And so when people start breaking IT down as a process and were a science right anyway, when people ask me about .

the process is always like, how do you write IT? I think it's the same for most comedians that just you say something funny and conversation, and then you go, oh, I should maybe do something about that and then you take out your phone and the conversation comes to a halt and everyone waits for you and you go, what exactly?

How did I say and then they talk, and then you ruin the moment and then you, then i'm in the wings of the show before the show kind of going like, what should I do? And I am kind of sick of my act as IT is like maybe and I look through, I go to throw that and then IT just kind of happens on stage. But it's it's it's a lazy world.

right? But you're super funny.

Everything i've ever been good at.

you're the top of the game. Honestly, I can be watching you stand up all the time. You're really old.

You're very generous to have come back. And as I have to see you finally get this kind of recognition .

like someone yeah for sure .

it's been it's a huge it's a huge deal .

and thank you.

Funny and you was so good and talk about vulnerability. I mean, that's but that's what we don't we all want that from our celebrities like I always just wanted to see how they are. I used to love that like the stars are just like us kind of things. I wish to really do love that and that's what I think pog guests have given us, is that conversational quality and we gets really know you and some actors think and they're not interesting at all in conversation, but you guys don't your so fuck and funny and yeah.

I was you're infectious with your very, very clean, honest sort of energy. Common audio s is grow .

in moments you're funny. so.

Yes.

thank you.

It's so good to see you. Good to see you too.

Thank you. Yes, nag. Oh, my.

Thank you guys, a micky. Great fun.

I am embarrassed .

to say .

that's my first experience with her um and um wow .

what .

I am a fan. Her.

yeah yeah she's amazing. Sumac I love what he said .

because SHE I an even on here she's just brutally honest about everything that he feels in our opinions. And I think that .

what people are drawn to, yeah.

she's got specials on netflix. That comedy megastar, yes. Yeah, yes.

And not just because of her level, but just also how funny SHE is. SHE is profoundness funny. So good.

And my body, my body, great. Bob castone used to work with two. That's how he kind of really turned me under about five years ago.

Technical lizer. The funniest. He went with her for long time.

and that he would be great in in movies. And SHE doesn't .

like to be amazing act.

you know, like five people that act. Most of us display versions of ourselves, and I love to see a million different versions of her.

but should be great. She's nice in which is so funny because he does these rose, which are can be so super cutting and stuff. And she's actually like a super nize kind person and and I yeah .

SHE SHE cal shit fucking.

Is so fucking .

the worst .

people.

Look, I wasn't. I was just bite in my time.

Why would .

you waste IT was that?

Yeah, did you just like what you asked .

that I was eating my time?

Yeah, just cut role.

It's a good one.

It's very good. Just what I was, I was apologized .

for IT just .

sitting .

there. Guys.

I think you know this happy.

Well, you have, can you take us out like like we should you .

got anything?

Well.

I just had too good. I actually do have a book, a book of all the great bytes that I want to use.

And I all IT OK.

I go bad.

Do we'll see IT the next one T.
