Dr. Chao Tang is the Co-Discoverer of Self-Organized Criticality and the Sandpile Model which are revolutionary breakthroughs in understanding how complexity arises in nature. He is currently Chair Professor of Physics and Systems Biology at Peking University, Founding Director of the Interdisciplinary Center for Quantitative Biology at Peking University, Founding Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal “Quantitative Biology,” Fellow of the American Physical Society, as well as Principal Investigator of the Tang Lab which has 20-30 undergraduate and graduate students studying quantitative biological systems.
