One of the classic movie musicals of all time, The Wizard of Oz represents the film industry shifting from black and white to color and planting a firm foot on the ground that sound in movies is the inevitable future. A lighter take on Oz than the quirky source material from author L. Frank Baum, the Wizard of Oz moves along at a zippy pace that has an ending that's a bit too convenient. In 2011, a UK stage musical was made based on this movie featuring new songs by Tim Rice Andrew Lloyd Webber.
