Hosts Mat Bradley-Tschirgi and William Thrasher discuss The Terminator. An early flick from James Cameron, The Terminator spins a yarn about a man (Michael Biehn) and a cyborg (Arnold Schwarzenegger) traveling back in time to deal with a woman (Linda Hamilton) in their own way.
The Terminator is a lean science-fiction action movie that plays more like a horror movie with the T-800 as the slasher. Much of the backstory is unexplained and most of the movie plays like an extended chase sequence. Originally, Arnold Schwarzenegger was supposed to play the hero and O.J. Simpson was going to be the villain. That would have been a very different movie!
Mat enjoys the premise of the rare Stephen King miniseries Golden Years about a janitor aging backwards while government spooks are trying to take him out. Thrasher caught up on Dogoon V, a live-action Japanese series about monster hunters. It has a slightly sexy Power Rangers vibe.
