Hosts Mat Bradley-Tschirgi and William Thrasher discuss The Hangover Part 3 from 2013. Todd Phillips wraps up his comedy trilogy by changing the genre on the audience. Instead of a comedy, we get more of an action heist picture. Mr. Chow (Ken Jeong) has broken out of prison and needs help from his buddy Alan (Zach Galifianakis) to finish off a gold heist. Alan drags his drunken pals along for the ride, but there's a catch. Mob boss Marshall (John Goodman) has kidnapped their hapless friend Doug (Justin Bartha), and he wants Mr. Chow delivered to him on a silver platter. Where does the Wolfpack's loyalties lie?
Mat praises the documentary Drunk Stoned Brilliant Dead: The Story of The National Lampoon. It's a comprehensive look at how Harvard Lampoon spun off into National Lampoon, and how they proceeded to make legendary stage revues, books, magazines, and movies. Thrasher enjoys the first half of the Ryan Reynolds science-fiction motion picture Life, but thinks it gets worse the more it focuses on the alien onboard.
