Hosts Mat Bradley-Tschirgi and William Thrasher discuss The Fugitive.
Based off the 1960s TV series, The Fugitive follows Dr. Kimble (Harrison Ford) as an escaped convict trying to track down the man who really killed his wife. On his trail is Deputy U.S. Marshal Gerard (Tommy Lee Jones).
Solid acting and a smart screenplay from Jeb Stuart (Another 48 Hrs.) and David Twohy (Critters 2: The Main Course) collide to make a movie that's based on a TV show way better than it has any right to be. Both Ford and Jones are sympathetic in their own way. Things get a bit silly with a pair of action scenes near the end, but it ends on a solid character moment.
Mat loves the violent Japanese yakuza (gangster) film Battles Without Honor and Humanity; first in a series of five films, it tracks the rise and fall of several gangster empires on the deadly city streets. Thrasher enjoys the long story arcs of the Elfquest graphic novels. They both go on a long tangent about Spider Ham and why they love What If? comics.
