Hosts Mat Bradley-Tschirgi, Thrasher, and BJ discuss the movie that started the Star Wars craze those kids are into, Star Wars; it was later rereleased as Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) thinks being a farmer sucks, so he meets an old man (Alec Guinness) who gives him a glowy sword.
After he couldn't buy the movie rights for Flash Gordon, writer-director George Lucas decided to do his own sci fi saga and the rest is history. A simple plot, amusing dialogue, and thrilling space combat scenes give this first Star Wars film more zip than you might remember. It's clear this was meant to work as both a standalone movie and the start of a trilogy based on how the ending wraps everything up with just enough threads out there to keep audiences wondering.
