Director Hal Needham pushes his car crash cinema to the brink in this amiable romantic comedy. Co-star Jerry Reed performed several songs on the soundtrack which range from country classics ("Eastbound and Down") to stirring ballads ("The Bandit"). Jackie Gleason makes for a fun villain chasing after the ultra relaxed Burt Reynolds.
