A clever adaptation of The Marvelous Land of Oz and Ozma of Oz, Return to Oz hews closer to the books than its more popular musical predecessor did. In some ways, this comes off as a horror film with how frightening the creatures look. Over the years, this has become a cult classic. Jean Marsh is great as the evil Mombi. Executive Producer George Lucas would later cast her as the villainess in Willow.
