Hosts Mat Bradley-Tschirgi, Thrasher, and Alex Miller discuss American Pie 2. The gang rent a house at Lake Michigan for a killer summer party. Stars Jason Biggs, Alyson Hannigan, Natasha Lyonne, and Tara Reid.
In American Pie 2, the characters are back home after their first year of college. After a labored extended opening retreading much of the first film (they eat at the same restaurant! they have another party where something gross happens to Stifler!), things loosen up a big when they go to a summer house for a continuous hang out. Especially memorable is a walkie talkie debacle which reaches almost Austin Powers levels of lunacy as everyone from the police to fast food workers can hear the awkward hijinks being broadcast in crystal clarity. Shannon Elizabeth and Alyson Hannigan are given a bit more to do here with a love triangle of sorts, although Thomas Ian Nicholas becomes more of an oversight despite kicking off the plot to begin with ("we've got to have one last summer together").
Funnier than the original, American Pie 2 also has a better mix of heart to help the shock humor go down easier.
