The launch of ChatGPT opener has made IT pretty apparent that a big, I guess, focus for them is trust and safety A I making sure A I model. But despite that, a lot of different organizations and people have called for bans on ChatGPT or urged investigations into IT. A new group has recently urged more investigations into OpenAI and ChatGPT.

And so we are going to talk about that on the podcast today. So what is happening now is that the european consumer organization, or the B E, U, C has joined this. I guess you call course of concerns about ChatGPT um and I end of course other artificial intelligent chat botts.

But obviously chat P T gets all of the spotlights and so the first and kind of the biggest um but in any case, this new commission is calling on the E U consumer protection agencies to investigate the technology um and the potential harm to individuals. Now this is something we've seen a lot mostly out of europe, to be honest, right? We saw italy completely ban ChatGPT for privacy reasons.

Essentially they said it's against their countries privacy rules of trajectory used any data created by an italian to train on IT. Then IT would get banned. They banned IT.

And um it's kind of interesting. We see this a lot out of europe. A lot of different eupeptic missions are investigating in OpenAI in ChatGPT.

And this is traditionally how a lot of this privacy rule in big tech have gone rate. We have um you know a lot of big ones that came out of the U K. That gdpr and what not out of europe um that really have changed a lot of things about privacy online.

And so a lot of companies have just kind of follow those rules for all of their um for everyone because they are they are coming. So it's going to be interesting to see what sway the E U. Has on like microsoft opening I and check your beta all of that.

But in any case because essentially obviously open a eyes becoming super popular. Um we are seen not just microsoft dive, but we have like google working on their chat box. This affects them. We amazon that recently announced they have a whole bunch of A I tools built into their A W S cloud division. And it's kind of interesting because there's I recently saw an article from router that every major tech company is getting into the race.

Um I think a lot of news organizations are perhaps over helping this, which is probably contributing to a lot of these different consumer protection groups in the eu and staff due in investigations. They worried like old man is just open a eye and chat pretty now but presuming to be everyone and so they're kind of trying to get everything lined up now. Um in reality, I think like routers, like I saying they recently said, like amazon is going to compete with ChatGPT Bobby, like looking into IT, essentially they're just a whole team like anthropos c another AI models on the A W S back end.

So definitely not the same thing at all. But there again, metals going to do something. Other people, there can be a lot different people in the race.

But I do think that tragic t opening, I have a really competitive advantage. They have a really good thing built for them, and it's going be hard for the people to catch up. I don't know if um you know sounding the alarm is quite is going to be super helpful this moment.

But in any case, the B E U C D E 的 B E U C is pretty mission umbrella a group of forty six consumer organizations from about thirty two countries set out its worries in separate letters earlier this month to the network of consumer safety authorities, which is the csn network. And actually the main concern is that tragic t can give out false information. So it's kind of interesting.

We've seen different concerns from people. We've seen the whole privacy risk. We have seen the whole is trained on our personal data, kind of concern out of italian what not now we're seeing the whole um it's not perfectly accurate, which is pretty interesting.

Um you know a lot obviously the thing has been dub like a research kind of product and we know it's I kind of like being worked on invade e and I feel like they have a lot of discretion ibers on the information. So IT is pretty interesting that this is the big thing that they're pushing. But um yeah there is kind of interesting too because they said specifically um that it's deceptive advertising.

So that's the angle taking at IT and they said know Young consumers and children are more vulnerable to the risk of getting in false information from here, which is pretty interesting. And I mean is also, I mean, to be fair, as we see companies like an academy integrating this into their educational products um for children who are learning, I think this is an interesting concept to be aware of, whether not you this is super accurate and and what kind of how they're a kind of approaching that. So their specific statement they said is the B E U C thus asks you to investigate the risks that these A I systems post consumers as a matter urgency to identify their presence in consumer markets, explore what remedial action must be taken to avoid consumer harm.

So essentially they also called on to start an exchange of information and investigation into the safety of the products. You know that something people I always been talking about, something that anything new but IT can be really interesting to see how this kind of new um angle a unfolds the whole you protect children from fake information goes this just piles onto a whole su of other regulatory people that are currently you know investigated them. And it's kind of interesting because you know when you think about IT, what's what's the outcome?

You know, i'm sure that they will be panelization in the europe by bunch of commissions. Will that be good while different countries ban them? I'm not one hundred percent, but at the end of the day, you know what is really the outcome? Perhaps different countries lose access to ChatGPT.

Perhaps IT becomes less powerful. Personally, I don't really see this as um being a massive positive for a lot of these countries that are heavily a investigating. And but maybe there will be some sort of benefits that come out of this, maybe some sort of good regulations for A I. So I think that is left to be seen and were going have to watch the space to see out how that continues to to unfold.
