My go to for taste protein and super food pack shake is kova. Every sermon of kaaba offers twenty five grams of one hundred percent plant based protein. But that's not all this.

All in one, shake has fiber quality facts, fideles minerals, anti oxidation and so much. I love that I can take so many boxes with just one delicious shake. If you know me, you know that vanilla and try are my favorite flavors, and I like to combine them.

But they also have chocolate, they've got marcha, and they've got coconut asie am a big fan of the coconut sie as well. After drinking a rava first thing in the morning, because that's when I always drink IT, I feel seated for hours. I feel focused, calm and were ready to take on my day something that I really love to do if I even want like a little bit more protein is just at a scoop of peanut butter to the mini and check in code that I make.

It's going to be somebody Better. Everybody's walking into twenty twenty four. I think everyone's walking into IT in their valentia, which is like, I like that.

I'd like that. I've seen a lot of people that I love and respect. And so i'm like, i'm glad we're all just walking in hand in hand here.

You know something about I don't think I going to have a million era. I don't think you argue that and I don't think you should. I don't think I want to like make sense.

I would I continue my hot girl. I really Better and like, I need to get more steps in. Yeah so I can really be among these hot girl.

So I just need to start moving again though that still a little, a little bit, Terry, we did by walking pads, but there's still over there right under my coach right now. Well, I ring in the near watching buried at first, married at first night australia. And might I say american married at first.

I take a couple of fucking note. Wow, married at first. I australia. Drew, when I benched almost the entire season yesterday. IT is so good, if you have who you can watch.

IT, I know what else is on, but the drums, well, I mean, australia. I love australia. I love Better australian people. yeah. Our australian listeners have always been lovely as well.

And they say, the best things have you ever heard? I'm not trying to fuck spiders no, but I agree with that sentiment. Or they say, like, i'm not gonna fuck by, sorry, doesn't know. How do you respond that? He said, I like, I also am not going to fuck spiders IT means like i'm not trying to mess around.

I'm not trying to fuck spider something they say like i'm not going to fuck spider so like i'm not here to fuck spider can I australian listeners is is okay if I use that yeah because that's fun. I will give me credit. Lindo, who is my favorite, the season of watching season in ten, of married at first, he said that during her wedding vows and I was like, that's a queen, right? Wow, that's a queen.

Just that's A A late person is so good and they you've have you ever seen like the american at first site, like american version, I think yeah, i've seen like that that one that one episode that everyone seen or that one season that every, yes, I think is that I don't know that season one or is one of the very early Jimmy and g well, this one, they like, they do like dinner parties and they get them all together. And then they have a commitment ceremony every single week. Or like everybody shaken air, like out in front of everybody recommit you have to recommit you have to stay or leave.

And if one person right to stay in the couple and the other person writes leave, you have to stay another week to work on your, are you going to like, i'd like to leave and you like to no, I know my first and I was like, shit, but then it's wild. Yeah and there's a cheating scandal of, my god, it's reality TV fucking on. Everything is just it's so good.

I just want to disney on ice this weekend. So that's different. It's different. That's different for you. Especially was that changer's IT was a little bit, but I will tell you, the girls faces this thing i've ever seen like IT was by far the best part of the weekend.

I also think that just I guess soon as you become a parent, you just to do that yeah, that isn't parent. Disney ice. Yeah, absolutely.

I know. Or follow on instagram that is a parent has been to disney on ice in the past. The kids love IT.

It's they do a great job with this. I can't way to go. It's it's wonderful.

I mean, I love ice skaters. I think ice skaters are like like I just like watching. Yeah, that was always my favorite part of the, and me too.

That was fun. I was some moment in an otherwise stressful end of the year. Yeah, my god, very whole end of the year.

And I just keeps flashing through my brain. I got food poisoning, so i'll just sleep in at that. Yeah, but it's, you know, fun, fun, fun, fun. But twenty, twenty four, all here can be great.

Let's all just like, you know, I think just like everybody's resolution should be just don't be an assemble and worry about yourself and stop worry about everybody else that like mine is there you go the mine is just like worry about the the ones who matter, don't worry the ones you don't hi yeah brother, just take care your own. I'm into IT, so i'm saying we d all be happier. I think that's a theme of this story is take care of you but they that was not their resolution.

No, no, this is just a very tragic, sad story. But IT has high society and you know a soccer er for that. So I mean, I love listening to your stories about high society.

I am a great at big fan girl also like, I do love just like like sitting, sitting and watching. Just on a quick note of high society, have you watch sobering yet? No, but i've heard many, many things about IT.

You have to be in the right head space to watch. Let me tell you, and you know what you will. You have to be in the right head space and you will never be in the right.

Had space all at the same time. okay? It's also very long. It's a commitment, but I don't know what i'm going to be ready for that systematically. It's beautiful.

I've heard great things I heard interesting for, oh my god, yeah who knows? Maybe i'll have time for that. It's it's cool. That's bananas. But I said high society so I thought that anyway, sorry, let's go back to the story, my ety, my story today, much like solberg and is highly tragic. But other than that, doesn't really have any coalition we're going to talking about and and Billy woodward today.

And if you know anything about truman capote and that new show, that new ryo phy show, fude that's coming out, then you will you will probably know about this a little bit because that's what IT is very food is a new season because it's like an evolution, like american horror where it's a new few degree season okay? Um and this this new one, which I thought was a very interesting concept and i'm excited for IT this viewed with treated capotes women right he ended up building with so this this lady was like never friends with him at all, but he ended up doing her so dirty like real bad. But before all of that came, we got to go back to the beginning.

So in woodworking, we're going to focus on her and Billy woodworm, but we'll start with an to say that. And what word came from humble beginnings would be the profiles of under statement boy SHE was born Angela seal crawl on december twelve thousand nine hundred fifteen in pipeline berg, kansas. Her early life was um a very far cry from the new york's society, like the far this possible, the this way.

yes. Her father, Jesse cloud crowd. He was an occasional farmer and railway driver who spent more of his time looking for money than he did actually trying to earn IT.

He was just looking for quick, easy money. Yeah, but her mom eo crawl couldn't have been any different from her husband. SHE was an incredibly hard worker, and he had a very stubbing personality.

Not only did he take care of her injustice, two small children, SHE took care of his parents and really, for all intensive purposes, to care of him too. I fl. Had a law on her shoulders.

And at the time, he was also taking correspondence courses in teaching through the state manual training, Normal school. Look at this bad should just do in IT all. yeah.

Now I thought, and justice marriage in one thousand and thirteen had gotten ough to kind of a rocky start. They were married in an age. And this is going to block your mind where school teachers were expected to be single women.

So ever had to keep her marriage to Jessie a secret for years so as not to affect their income. So I feel like you can't win. No, because because you either single in a sponsor or your married and shunt anyways because you're not supposed to be married.

Isn't that strange that you were a school teacher? You weren't supposed to be married? Incredibly done. Yeah, one thousand thirteen men don't get that.

But despite her work ethic and commitment to providing for others, apple crown believed that kansas was just a desert, and he wanted way more for her children than what they were going to have working the families already struggling farm. I love them. I do too.

And SHE didn't know that at the time, unfortunately. But her near obsession with self improvement and destined for poverty would have a considerable influence, specifically on her daughter in now, unfortunately, tragedy struck the family in one thousand nine hundred and eighteen. One five year old Jesse junior died in the middle of the night.

He choked to death on his own fluid is what they said, oh my god. But today, most likely we would assume that he probably had in a monia and didn't have like the proper treatment at the time. That's horrific.

But the death of her child caused ethel to turn away from her first emotionally and then physically. SHE was just distorted after losing a child, and SHE just had this unrelenting guilt that he thought the the her child's death was her fault in some way. Yeah, I mean, I can understand like IT absolutely wasn't.

I can understand why he thought that. And he convinced herself self that if he had the money to take her son to a hospital, his death could have been prevented. Now so sad and is, in that line of thinking, eventually grew into the belief that the whole thing could have been avoided if SHE was able to get out of kansas.

And i'd never married a farmer. So SHE SHE put on herself, SHE had so much guilt. And then, because of that girl, SHE to started resenting everything and everybody around turn, of course.

And despite friends and family urging, heard think of her husband, they gave her daughter, think of what you do still have, and they desperately need you. SHE was like, I can't do this. And that's when SHE enrolled in the Normal school and moved several hours away to pursue her education.

Oh, wow, SHE just needed to get away from at all. And maybe I was like the best thing for her at that point, because I don't know that he was going to be great at home. I think he had to take that break but at the same time, it's like you kind of care you know it's it's a catch twenty to either way.

Now the extreme poverty and emotional tommee of the early days, that early years sadly didn't improve much. As Andrew older, by the time he was ten, her parents relationship had just completely deteriorated to the point that justice finally did ask fell for a divorce, which back then was huge, like nobody got to, but at that point there had been so many affairs and emotional betrayal s that respectability didn't matter much enough. I was like, yeah, sign up please.

I'm good. Like, so SHE packed up her daughter and their few belongings and moved back to pittsburgh and pitzer g. Kansas in the girls that followed as well met and married another man, whom he also divorced not long after, and SHE and and relocated again, this time to kansas city, where etho actually opened her own taxi business that grew to employ several drivers and a ton of company oil cars.

So she's taken head after hit but he's she's still stuck in a long get him back up the move to kenza city got them out of the crushing poverty of kansas farm life. But IT did little to improve. And our ethos lives like emotionally, I felt, was a way, working day and night to comfort or to support herself and her daughter.

So I M found an escape in the movie houses and film magazines of the day, all presenting this glamorous life in hollywood, hollywood, hollywood. But now SHE was just determined, defined for herself. SHE wanted to be on the big screen. SHE wanted to get out of kansas, wants to be a SHE wanted a me.

Now that determination to find her way out of poverty was only strengthen then by the hardships and just terrible time that he saw her mother go through every single day as a single woman and a female business owner, I thought was subject to all kinds of methods, I and harassment, and most of which came from her male employees, her employees, her employees, because they resented having to work for woman and just too fuck about didn't have any reservations about showing IT. That's absurd. It's like, cool.

You're fired. You're tiny. Bye now by the time he read her twenty first birthday and I crawl had reinvented herself as ann crawl, aspiring model and movie star.

No longer content with the impoverish life in kansas city that he was living, SHE took A A move and decided to go to denver to stay with her own and cousins. And while he lived in denvers, SHE actually managed to secure a few jobs modeling for catalogues before. SHE eventually returned to kansas city, now more restless than ever, because SHE had a small taste of what he had been dreaming of.

Yeah, SHE wasn't content to just dream of wealth and fame more. SHE was like, I gotto make this happen. yeah. So SHE finally made the decision at this point to move to new york city. Just a few months later, the new york in the big city of the bigger apple.

And he figured, you know, I did make some connections, and denver, maybe those will pay off once I get to new york in athole. Obviously hated to see her daughter go, but at the same time, this was what he wanted for him to get out of cancer in term, experience big things and have the life that effort didn't get. yeah.

So SHE talked to him before he left and told her, never talked to strange men, never look at them. Passed day light on the street. I mean, that's good.

Good advice. Sound advice. And with that advice to spend, SHE gave. And I love this because I was picture, it's like a movie thing SHE gave in this bag of five dollar bills that total out to about four hundred dollars, oh my god.

And one of the cars from the taxi company and SHE watched as Andrew out of kansas. So SHE just handed her daughter this bag of cash that you've been saving. And what to test that? That's a mom shit.

Just some mom shall here you go. Take care of yourself. God, I love no.

Paton has a variety of workouts for wherever you are in your fitness journey, holiday era, predrag off meditation era, dry january era, whatever error of your life you're in, pelton has the classes and motivation you need to get after IT. I'm in my will. You just get up and do something error.

So i've been really focusing on bradlee roses cycling classes. I'm really getting into some yoga classes, and it's been awesome because this is little thing I need to the classes that you can tell how hard IT is in. So when he arrived in new york in August of one thousand and thirty seven and was twenty two years old, now unemployed and homeless, SHE literally had nowhere to go at this point. But SHE had that drive that her mother had instilled her, and he was only intensified now by her fear of having to go back to kansas, being like, yeah, I didn't make yeah.

So SHE found a cheap mote, a hotel room, using some of the money that ever had given her in the next day. I love this to the story's awesome SHE went straight to the power's agency, which was a modeling agency on park ave. Didn't couldn't make like any contact famous modeling.

Nobody was expecting her at the agency. You shouldn't have a point or anything like that. He was walking and the secretary was like, okay, like wanting to take a seat until somebody you available to speak with you but by six thirty that night, everyone had left for the day.

The end was like he was asked to leave so he said they're the whole day and no one was came like coming out to talk to SHE was committed. So he returned to the next day. And the next day, the next day, in the same thing, SHE arrived.

Ed, right? When they opened, take a seat, someone will be able to talk to you like when they can. No one. And then finally, on the fourth day of sitting and waiting, john powers agree to see john powers like, has he didn't refuse to hire her, but he did tell her that he would need a nose job in order to succeed with his agency.

He was like, the rest of you fine, but your nose is a little an awful world, truly like, you know what? And said, but and he borrows some money from a friend and paid five hundred dollars for her nose job, which also a great friend, was just a now SHE figured you'd able to pay the money back to her friend when SHE saved up summer of earnings from a new job that he got at the sax fifth avenue hat counter counter. So was like her little side, I guess modeling with side.

SHE never really did managed to get the big, glamorous modeling jobs that he hoped for. But he did managed to find success at the power's agency as one of the more popular models for SOS. The tooth pace and like home and beauty products kind of thing.

yeah. Between the money SHE made from her modeling job and her job at sax, SHE was able to move into her her own small apartment on east fifty street would SHE while paper quote with menus from shek nightclubs in restaurants such as l. Marco twenty one and the stock club that is so cool founding isn't that I just like you're making IT in the big city, you're going to these nightclubs.

You know what? I have an idea, just a DIY queen and just sounds so like that sounds like boheme and just IT IT also reminds me of like when we would put like apple bags on our walls. And me like, this is fashion.

This is the height of luxury. We really thought, we all thought we really did during the day. And SHE modeled, of course, he worked to the counter at sacks, and SHE took acting and dance classes she's selling, and he had to, we love to see IT.

And then at night, SHE dined at the city's most popular restaurants in icall. SHE and IT was all paid forward by the power's agency. And IT was because he was one of their more popular models in the space that he was. So they wanted to promote her more and more. So he got to go to these fancy places.

Her hard work finally paid off in november of one thousand nine hundred and thirty eight when he landed a role as a chorus girl in a new musical review called set to music to me, to music the broadway show and then subsequent national tour. R put in in contact with some of the idols that SHE worship does a teenager back in kansas, but SHE still wanted more. F.

S. Daughter, baby, I was just going to say that the effect you want in more recognition, a more fame, more wealth, more everything SHE was SHE was a nacion. yeah. But unfortunately, just as he was really coming into her own things back in kansas, took a turn. One morning, ethel woke up with a really bad sore throat.

And over the course of the next few weeks, IT worked into a cough and eventually respiratory problems that landed her in the hospital eventually and paid to have her mother transferred to a hospital and sent lui Lewis, where SHE would have access to a specialist to put IT did little good, according to the doctors ethos, had, quote, developed a rare lung disease that was common in cattle, or, and sadly, they didn't have much hope that her condition was going to improve. If anything, he was just gonna slowly get worse. So you would like White, a cases that is common in cattle that's awful.

And probably because of all her work on the first is going to say ah so and called her mother regular leader check in wondering if he should leave the show and gold be by her side but each time effect insisted, nope, you do not leave the show. You finish IT out she's just moment till he is she's like, you're gonna get something Better than I did this and like, messed up that some true mom shit like, don't worry about me i'm fine you I want you to succeed and do what you want to do but you feel bad for and to be an opposition because that's your mom of course you like you would feel so selfish away from her but then she's telling, you know, like, yeah, you gotta do IT it's got a possible choice to me that is. But SHE did finish IT out in when this tour of set to music came to an end and caught a ride from new york to missouri to be by her mother's side.

By september of one thousand and forty, SHE was covering all of ethos medical bills in hospital bills, and he was spending almost all of her time by her mom side to make up, I think, for the time that he was away. My daughter now know like, but the sad thing was because he was spending all this time by apple side all the progress SHE had made in new york and all the connections that he had were slowly slipping away. And now he was faced with a decision to stay in kansas with her mom or return to new york and and was like, I can't stand and can't just like, yes, not what I want for myself.

Too much progress. I've made too much progress. This isn't what my mom wants for me.

So SHE borrowed money from my friend again. And SHE had effect transferred to a special unit at the new york hospital. Oh, my good is. And also these friends I know dam, which makes you think like obviously and had to be like someone have a good person yeah at least he definitely had to you said at least at, at least at this point, maybe he was the only way through I don't know who knows, but again, like you said, having friends like that does tell you who you are as a person but you know people will see you, right? So in the short amount of time that you've been away, unfortunately, legal said things in new york had changed for in the medical bills, had taken a serious financial toll.

Which forced her to give up her pent house apartment on east fifty history and moved to a studio apartment on east fifty six three and most of the personal and professional connections that he had made during her time and set to music. I either moved on to other productions or gone out to hollywood to try the the teacher I there luck in the film industry which is what he really wanted to do ah by the end of one thousand forty and he still hadn't found any steady work and her expenses, mostly due to paying ethos medical bills. We're threatening to send back to kansas if SHE didn't find something reliable soon.

I smell a little desperation here. Well, as luck would have IT in december of one hundred forty two and heard that the monte carlo, the monte carlo, monte carlo, a small exclusive nightclub just a few blocks from her apartments, who can venial? They were looking, for course, girls and dancers? No, and is a dancer.

SHE is the work would be obviously a stepped down from the glamorous broadway stage and the tour that SHE had just been on in the past. But IT was steady. Work in the evening hours meant that he would have a days free to spend with all that's ideal.

So through tenacity in the few connections that he did have left in the city and managed to land the job as a dancing girl of the monte carlo, which would pay fifty dollars a week. Look here. Fact then that's pretty good income also.

I love that like her having to leave to take care of her Ailing mother was I was just going to lose your connections like no one was willing to be like, yeah, she's just taking care of first that like dying mother like humans need to get Better. Humans need to get Better and it's that need to get Better that such a and that's so industry and it's just so cold so do have to realize people are humans, but people don't give a fake. Now, working at the monticola was a far cry from the dreams of starting that and had for herself.

But as one of them, premier nightclubs in new york, I say I was like the nights b IT was. And of course, because I was and attracted a good amount of stars from stage and screen oh yeah so he was still within that circle even though he wasn't quite one of just hang in the fridge that's perfect to describe IT. Now IT was during one of these uh, late night floor shows that am cop, the eyes of a man called William would word senior.

He was a wealthy banker and race horse enthusiasts I I got last night. Race horses just keep making an appearance, so they really love a race horse. Yeah, I do.

You're living in the place of a race force I really do except I actually just part of society hundred percent especially back then when everybody just like smoke and say, oh yes and horses, oh yeah course I love you're just holding a giant ball right now and you are talking with your hands. You're like smoking sea, just like waging big eating bao. great.

You know, fancy high society home. I ago bangle ago, high society. So and knew just to mister wood, word was mister wood, mister wood, wood.

Because he had read about him in the society pages, which bring back the society pages, mother fuckers, I want to read William. He kept to coming back at least several times to see in perform. SHE really caught his eye. And one night he asked her, hey, baby.

You want to see one of my horses run come down to the race track with me is that, you know, you want to see my race was, yes, I would think probably I think that was deeply upsetting when you put in that way. It's deeply upsetting either way, to be honest, but it's really upsetting the other way, very upsetting when you really think hard about IT. Yes, so don't just what you're probably doing, just rose rose roman and of course knew that what word was married.

Oh, but so we're a lot of the men who bought her drinks and center jewelery should not be asked in her to fuck races if were married. Not in the real way, physical way. No, keep your race worse to yourself and you keep IT in its track.

What is that? Keep in the you stall. I think you work well. Okay, I don't know anyone with yours, but the thing was a lot of the men who advances on ana got her nice things. They were married.

So SHE didn't see anything wrong with just going to the track to have a date. And I think there's something wrong. I think there is wrong. Let me have those things.

So one afternoon in march one hundred and forty one and was visiting with her mother in her room at a new york hospital to celebrate ethos forty fifth birthday. She's only forty five. Yeah, only forty five at this point he had lived such a life even I at this point of she's not like seventy something I thought he was seventy, forty five.

Yeah, and the whole shit exactly. I just do my I book to. But in the week's leading up to the visit, ethel's condition had gotten worse. And on that afternoon, athole didn't even really recognize them. IT.

And after a proof of the evils doctor suggested to end that, maybe he should go in, come back when her mom was feeling a little Better. So and was like OK and SHE made her way home and climbing up the stairs to her apartment, he heard the phone ringing. Then SHE ran an to answer IT before the collar hanger or hung up.

And IT was a nurse from the york hospital calling to tell her that ethel had died peacefully ten minutes earlier after he had left, right after he had left, like he probably died, wallin was on her ray home, which, like, I understand why that doctor thought that he was yeah, you should rest. Nobody could ever know. But it's like and it's also that's why it's like don't even tell people to go home and rest k, because you just don't know.

Yeah, that's nothing. So on march twenty years and a boarded a train back to kansas for her mother's funeral, the drab landscape in poverty of her hometown felt IT always felt suffocating to end. But this time, specifically, IT was just overwhelmingly suffocation.

And IT wasn't that he didn't love her family, her and her cousins and everything, but being in their presence reminded her of where he had come from and where SHE desperately didn't want to return. This really is like a movie IT is I know, or like some kind of like many series honestly and and IT will be no, there you go. But SHE ended up spending a total of forty eight hours in cancer.

SHE went to the funeral he gave her mother's ology visited with family and friends the whole deal, but then SHE got the hell out of there. And before leaving, SHE asked her cousin paul to keep an eye on ethos grip for her. Make sure IT was like me tidy all the time, forty five day on right now.

And paul said, well, once you be coming back and like, are you coming back? And he said, i'll be back soon. But this afternoon, SHE bought ted a train for new york.

And SHE never ever came back to answer, yeah, I could told to that there was a nothing in canes for after that I want a terrible last memory to have being a mom. exactly. The U.

R. Pretty much hated this place so much. And then that's what you have to go back for. And her mom believed in her, yeah, like, supported her.

And like, really was just like a like a chillier yeah exactly said and he shall have had many, many years of that oh my god. Her mom shouts been able to serious success, yeah you know. But back in new york and resumed her routine, performing at the monticola low in the evenings and auditioning during the day.

And eventually SHE landed a occurring role as a nurse on an afternoon radio called joyce Jordan, girl in turn and love a and all turn, not boy and girl turn. And that LED to other a rules on other radio programs, like link and highway radio programs. And, you know, just tune into the radio, just gather around the radio.

Folk, turn that up. Pop, I hear. So in a team, a team that's adorable, adorable in time ands relationship with a will in mood words senior there grew from this harmless crush to something more serious with married yeah and he's he's a married high society about the fact that this exactly you you are on the right.

The fact that this was getting a little more hot and have the threatened a serious scandal to the world family, if anyone were to find out. And that was one thing for a man of what word statistic have an occasional dellius with a show girl? I love that with that.

That was just, I love that like that should happen, of course. Of course, guys is are going to fuck show girls when they are marry people actually give a ship of don't be in public with IT like we stop that that's something but an ongoing secret romance. IT was something else entirely.

And IT would not have been tolerated by new york's high society, high ety. She's a while wild, but I also definitely wouldn't been tolerated by woodworth's wife. L.

C, yeah. no. With out here, I also won't tolerate to, but not wanting. This is where shit is going to get.

You're not even gonna able to stay on track with this at this point because he gets wildly fucked in here. Um okay, i'm strapped in. I'm glad.

Hold on here about so not wanting to give up his relationship with and but knowing that the two couldn't Carry on as they had been, what word senior devised a wild as plan where and would make the acquaintance of and start a relationship with his son Billy, i'm sorry. Well, you might ask, I didn't. I don't even want to one might ask why.

Well, this would allow an and what word senior to go on spending time together under the guys of a strictly patronage relationship between a father and his sons. Girlfriend, this is so fucked up. I can.

You become, does that gonna work? Mother fucker, you too are having an affair. And because you want to keep having an affair, you have heard date your son.

You're going to bring your son. You're gna fuck your son's girlfriend. That's fuck.

That's even weird. Oh, my god. And we just have the straight up affair.

That's that's honestly much in the society papers. That's gonna look Better exactly. You fucked in your son's girlfriend.

But they figured, aren't he figured I should say that IT wouldn't get into the society papers, that he was fucking his sons girlfriend, because that would be behind closed doors, because now SHE d sh'd have an excuse to be in his hole. I think, of course, you know what you can like. You can be around.

We can still see each other. Oh yes, so just fuck up your son's lives so that rocks off. That's good. That's the thing. good.

Are you gonna your son in on this? Or is he just going to be allowed to potentially be hard broken? Well, you just wait, my dear. Oh boy, you just oh boy, for fucking some reason another I don't know which one and agreed that looks like I don't know.

I've never had a fair the society and personally, I had never checked that off my bingo card, but I I could imagine that if I did and he suggested, you know, like my wife and everything, so just hang out with my son, i'd be like, are you, are you elli? Like, I lost IT completely. I understand that there's a power dynamic here that is totally, much, totally come, but that the body society of god, there's plenty of Richard older guys that I am sure you can have that I can ask you to date their son.

I mean, she's beautiful and gorgeous. She's to action. She's you know she's like a hard work and she's got all she's checking all the boxes. Yeah, it's like, honey, you can find someone Better. You don't need this one.

You know this one that's already taken taken and is now wanting to you to date his son like that's just mess up on a, you go know what? This has been fun. This has been a great time. I don't want to get in the triple. Yeah, I definitely don't want to get your side rapped up in this.

So i'm going to keep dancing and meet some other see my regards, I but man one, an agreed IT said in emotion a chain of events that would forever alter the lives of literally every single person involved in this family, I can imagine, and all of them, yeah, I didn't think this was going to go to school. Now that doesn't. But IT IT goes way different.

But I think you would imagine, probably because i'm not even wrapping my brain around IT because I was all this is gonna and like not down drag out fight. Not really. No, I was horrible. yes.

So in march of nineteen forty two, while Billy was home for during his break from harvard, Billy being from how the word word sun, the Billy will be the Young woodworm, yes, he he is William junior, but we were always then, I think i'm pretty sure they did to. So he he was on a break from harvard, and his father asked him to have a regular girl, which meant, like, are you dating someone? You've a regular mal.

Like, are you dating someone? Like, consistently? not. Are you dating someone regularly? Son was like, no pop, I don't. And Billy wood word's extremely limited experience with women was of particular concern to his father, mostly because IT had become the source of rumors among his peers.

And I think that was a whole other, I think word, word senior thought he was killing two birds with one stone here. Yeah, he was taking away that whole, the rumor melt there, also getting his cake exactly. And it's like, what I can I ask, i'm always going to ask this, who book cares that much about somebody's a romantic life, high society.

And it's like his pair. His fears are all upset about his limited experience with women. What the fuck do you care? What does that have to do? You matter? Worry about your own god down long.

Why you worry about him? Like, dam, they were all bored. I think that's what IT all comes down to in. Board and gossip yeah that's when that's when shit pops up, which I learn with nothing to do.

I love a good gossip, but I don't be a bit about IT and it's like I don't care about things like that. No, I don't know about. Like, can you manage worrying about like who like that? Who's somebody's dating or like or not dating if they haven't dated, you're like, why? Yeah, that's my fuck in this.

Like, so right? But the thing was, Billy was a really handsome guy. He came like, we know from a respectable, wealthy family so as far as everybody saw IT, he shouldn't have any trouble meeting women.

But IT seemed to money around him that he just wasn't interested in them so that, of course, had many to speculate whether or not he was gay, which you do believe trouble as parents. That's everybody's problem and everyone's. And the thing is, like many high society rumor, speculation about Billy woodford, sexuality actually persisted long after his death.

That's sad. It's unclear whether or not he was gay, and IT actually has no bearing on the story. So were going to move on because who, like everybody else, should have but regardless of his orientation, William wood, word senior, suggested while he was home for break, Billy might look up and crawl.

You know, he said, I met out of the monte carlo a few months earlier, and I don't know. I think, what do you take her for? Dis cute.

Yeah, he's like, I fair with for a while so I can tell you she's aten. To be clear, this was less of a suggestion than a command. yeah. So Billy was like, okay, I will do that. He's like, you will ask this girl, you like already pop, cool, I don't pop.

But this els minutes later took in to a dinner at twenty one, which was a popular speak ezy room restaurant, I fifty second street, and was on a diet. And Billy was quoting, quote, too nervous to eat guys, dinner guys eat up, but they still ordered an extravagant meal in a bottle of champagne. Billy was obviously completely unaware of an's relationship with his father, so he didn't know anything about this strategic seta.

Oh my god, this is so fuck. But and was well aware of the plan for her to and having to go through the motions kind of made her impatient. In short, with Billy, honey doesn't know this poor guy.

So a few glasses of champagne IT luckily did help soften her attitude, I guess, locky. But eventually he started to fine his shy and experience, somewhat charming Billy, on the other hand, he didn't need any champion in order to enjoy and company. He thought he was confident, forward, exciting.

He was nothing like the society girls that his parents had steered him, torn in the past. And he was like, dam, I got, did my dad set me up with you? You're also guys like, shit.

This is great. So what started as kind of a shame relationship orchestrated by William woodward, senior, soon actually developed into something real. H, he did not see this kind.

I was just to say, well, shit, and I wasn't part of the plan. And much to his shaggy, you can imagine. Yeah, Billy, like we said, was instantly taken with any founder.

beautiful. He loved her assert of personality. He thought he lived her life without reservation. IT was great SHE for in foreran, whose me, Billy, was an entry into high society and the respectability and statutes that came with IT.

And at the same time he also was kind of charmed by his affection, devotion to her. So one of the there each getting things out of this one is a bit more self centered than the other. I'm gonna go out on a lemony.

They're getting different things out of IT. But, you know, but you know, like each other, they do. So the early days of their romance were spent at new york's finest restaurants, nightlife s or with, and just cooking meals for them at all.

This apartment, they were literally dating like, just like anybody else. What straight updating? So the fantasy of anxious, ravaged and cares carefree relationship with Billy eventually collided with reality, as you can imagine. yeah.

And that happened in August of one thousand nine hundred forty two, when Billy invited her to the races and saroj a where he was to quote and quote, meet his parents and extended family. I think he had already met one of his yeah. So in race day finally arrived billion Andrew of one hundred and fifty miles to seattle.

The springs in his paccard, stopping for breakfast along the way and stopping for breakfast made them late to meet you. Liam and l, which instantly got the day off on the wrong foot. You are not late to how society function.

Not you can fuck show girls, but don't you delay exactly? So things didn't get much Better when they finally made their way inside the clubhouse at the race track, where they were surrounded by some of the wealthiest people in the country. Elsa would word shook anta politely, but he was barely able to hide her disapproval.

Yeah, I just feel like i'll see, just haven't to shake her him yeah and SHE, I was going to say, I don't know if he knows or another. You can always get a vive and you know, that's tough. And SHE didn't SHE felt like and seem to disregard nearly every convention of his society that l have been raised and so held dear to our heart.

Yeah, I was going to say so SHE, you know, when you raised and you hold IT pretty yeah. hi. And William senior, when he was greeting and was like over of the top and like, very like, oh hi, so nice to meet you for the first time.

I oh my god, never met you before my life. If you so great to meet you do so. L S be all like uncle. Yeah the counters but so else is like, so well that before I like you guys guys real good yeah because people had been talking yeah, course you so the way he was acting basically effectively confirmed elsa suspicions that they had indeed met before this man.

Years later, he would tell her bridge, bridge friends one look at and and I knew the whole story, oh boy, so you don't want to fucking with the lady like this to the word word family matter art. And was a gold digging into liba, who was trying to force her way. And to a world that one never welcomed her and two, a world where else and things SHE belonged.

And that was exactly how he felt the moment SHE met her that day. Serota springs and IT is precisely how you would treat, and until the day he died. Now here's the thing I understand she's got a vive here and she's like, i'm pretty sure you have met my husband before. There's something here. So I would be like, gear IT hold you in that you but the whole, like you don't belong here because you are raised in poverty, is stupid, is so dumb because also I know that an is trying to climb the latter here.

Like clearly that was the way back then that people do IT now like it's not changing, but it's also like it's not like SHE hasn't worked her tail off get at least I mean, SHE was paying her mother's medical bills up until the end like he was really work in her as absolutely. And it's just such a weird way to look at things to be like because you were born into poverty, you don't deserve to make IT anywhere even though you worked harder than I to end yeah but they look at IT is like you didn't work as hard as I did because you don't know all the interview this is a line of thinking and one that still exclusive yeah it's just silly in bazar. But the thing was elsa wasn't entirely wrong and relationship with both wood word men yeah I mean, not the way that the black mark comes from exactly in her relationship with senior engineer.

We're calculated attempt to climb that latter into high society. So from elsie's point of view, she's like, not only did you try to use my husband, but now you're using my son. So like maybe stop info training my family.

I can see and I can see that frustration for sure. It's nice yeah but none of this matter to ability who absolutely reveled in anibal to get after his mother skin. He thought he was great. That's of high society. We're belly right there, truly.

But regardless of how Billy felt about the impression and made on his mother and herself was and would remain deeply self conscious around her future mother in law, which I might feel self, just two, if I had, you know, sleep with her, I am not even going to like, yeah, yeah, that looked up. You honestly shoud feel little self conscious if you sleep with someone's husson, definitely. And then date their and date their son and to around them my family dinners.

Yeah, that's that's just like a while. That's pretty natural. That's great. great. yeah. Now that seems that no matter what he did though, and always managed to transgress some unknown social convention of the elite, SHE was SHE wouldn't get IT SHE was too loud SHE dressed and appropriately, according to them, smoke in public.

And worst of all, as far as elsa was concerned, SHE was a vulgar and her empowered sexuality. I mean, to me, you look at that part of SHE sounds pretty cool. I would have with her, like I would tell to stop smoking but like you know back then, they don't know. So like you know back then, they're like that secured everything.

You seem pretty and with my yeah not great but other than that that all those things that like like Peter CIA and like that make but nevertheless, that race day was one and decided, quote, Billy was the main catch of their crowd and he was determined that no matter what else he would have thought he would become a proper society woman. No matter what I took like wolf a what an enemy to make. yeah.

So as an and billions relationship continue to develop into something serious. L. C. Would were tired. A private detective to look at the ends background, also a common theme about today. Oh yes.

Now SHE didn't really learn much about ants past in kansas because I really hadn't revealed didn't include ah but the detective nonetheless confirmed elsa suspicions that an had a rich sexual history that was hardly befitting for a woman of class but what made elsa truly I read was learning that Billy had given ana OLED bray slit passed down from his grandmother oh, more than the affairs with multiple men or her past as a show girl. This gifted family album was the thing that caused elsey to dumb that her son stopped seeing and immediately, oh boy, of course, that demand only made Billy want to see anyway more. That's a good way to get your kid to do something more to form exactly and just drove the two of them closer together.

His mother could yell and scream. SHE had threatening this inherit and all SHE want. And SHE very much did no. But Billy was deterred, deterred and his all consuming passion for him, nothing that elsa said was gonna change that.

So in january of one thousand nine hundred and forty thirty, and arrived at billies apartment, where, rather than lazing about in his pajama as like he usually would be, he was dressed in his navy uniform. The U. S.

Had just entered the war after the bombing of Pearl harbor over a year earlier, and the fighting had been really intensifying our since. So IT was going to require additional troops. Billy had graduated from harvard a few weeks earlier, so now he was eligible for the draft, and he had got emergency orders to report for gunny school in washington immediately.

So the idea of Billy leaving to fight and possibly even die in the war made, and of course, completely respond them because they are like, fully in love. And now what started as a scheme to gain entry into high society had actually grown into something real. So the thought of losing him was something he couldn't bear, and also something that seemed pretty likely, yeah, because of how bad this war was.

But this was an a modeling job or a wealthy patriot at the monte carlo. IT was an a decision and could just overcome with sheer willpower, interactive SHE had done before. SHE had done before.

As far as he was concerned, though, there was only one thing to be done, SHE told Billy. And this is quite marry me now or go away forever. This sounds like a movie. Marry me now.

Go away for you so you can just see somebody overacting that marry me away, slammed the door, just like go, that's why and also like, so not romantic, not you just given a strate ultimate me or go away forever. That's only about, okay, luckily Billy knew that and could be stump red and had a flare for the dramatic, dramatic. But he also sends that.

He did mean what he said. So he told her, i'm going to think about IT. Well, i'm away and i'll let you know.

Oh no, he hit her with them. Maybe he hit her with that. I'll think about IT. Wow, that's about of.

So a few weeks after he left her to coma and called billie at the base and was like, hey ah really sorry for that all I would actually just be happy to live with you whether were marry or not well, he really took that you like I think guy might have fucked up so I got upset yeah but he responded by asking whether and I was like, all he was like, if they're seven in your family who I can ask for permission to marry you and she's like, so you're saying as she's like so you're trying to marry my eyes say which like you might you might wanna know that if you're getting to the point where you're going to marry someone also the family is there is someone in your family I should like, do you have a family?

I'd like that one of them if I could marry you and it's like you often ask like you didn't know he is a family that was a marry discussion where you were like, what's your family like like you do you get along with your parents on on what's with daddy talk about that's the thing. So terrified of Billy or anybody else, especially in his circle, learning of her and power. Stop bring kz because said, oh no, oh no, you can be born into poverty and lied and told Billy that her father was dead SHE told him i'm an orphans just ask me so SHE wasn't SHE wasn't SHE had that but I mean, he was he was off somewhere yeah I don't really know if you would have been able to track down yeah so the announcement they did get engaged and the announcement of billion and engagement came as a shock to William senior, who initially assumed that there were some sort of emergency.

A K pregnant. We thought you was like, oh, but like, oh. Elsa, on the other hand, was outraged.

SHE told Billy in the susa quote, it's a matter of money. That's what she's really after. This had been her position all along, although he wasn't entirely wrong.

Billy was now twenty one years old, and he was able to access his trust fund at four thousand dollars a month, which today would be like receiving sixty nine thousand dollars per month. Holy shit, out of a trust is down, down. So her threats really Carried little weight with Billy at that point, because he has access to his own money, money first.

But SHE couldn't stop the wedding from going forward, but he could stop the rest of the family from attending. Oh, no. And lc did just that.

Oh, he was like, that's fine. You wanna married, we won't be there. L, which sees in her villain, like, I get I, I get her, her distrust, of course, I get that.

SHE SHE said he had ends number. William there kind of gave up the ghost there. Oh my god, so nice to meet you. Your lovely. Oh my wow.

I hope you guys stay together for the first time, the first time i've ever seen you, you, i've never seen a woman before. I see the only woman i've ever seen. I wow, there's other on the planet.

I don't. What's your name again? I understand that she's like, pretty sure you had something going with my husband and now you just going to marry my son like I understand that yes.

Vibe not being great, yes. And just that is the level of the most strive to achieve. I think he thought he was going to stop IT yeah, but not going like find them are not going to go to your wedding. I think he thought, believes me, oh my god, okay.

And like I can't do this, we not going to be there but he was like, was like, oh, he was like, got to really like that so and that sounds like regards list of how this all started that and and Billy did love each other. Yeah, I got this point. I don't I don't know this story, which I said to say I am it's on just a matter of opinion like based on what we are seeing, what we know at this point and at least seems like they are enjoying each other others company.

I mean, like we said like that would have been nicer them to know whether you know things about each other, like whether he had a family or not yeah, that would be good, maybe for him conversation. He had dated his father and this said that i'll started, as you know, that would have been nice. That would pretty I don't know how I feel about this is all very reckless.

That's the thing you think you feel one way. And then you look at the buck because I just talked myself through that and I was like, I don't know, I have no idea how to feel. This is reckless.

You you will know how to feel even at the end yeah and you know I get IT l see yeah. The week of march eighth, one thousand nine hundred and forty three, and arrived in to coma. Washington were Billy was stationed and where the wedding was to be held, the wedding was to be a smaller affair, which you have a few friends and billie father in attendance of.

wow. So Williams went, oh yeah. And bought her dress at a seattle department store. And on march fourteenth, and crawl married William wood, word junior had a lutheran, the chapel into coma, with a smaller option that followed at the to homa hotel. Wow is small affair after after their wedding, and they started small after their wedding and and Billy moved into a five bedroom to their style house overlooking washington, S I think it's puget sound, which was furnish ed with the finest furniture and luxuries that money could buy, but which should have been a time of celebration. Annulated was almost immediately undermined by tension and conflict.

Elsa refused to publish a marriage announcement in the network times, the paper of record signal to her society friends exactly how they felt about the marriage, and to make matters worse, a few days after the wedding and had casually mentioned that he had seen one of Williams senior horses, johnston run at the races before they admit, or the comment seemed innocuous at the time. But when Billy pressed and for details, SHE was forced to explain that SHE knew his father longer than he or virtually anyone else in the family had known for. Fact, oh no, you know, that her relationship with his father had been totally innocent, lying, and at the same time he was still humiliated by this revelation and immediately recognize her mistake and told her grandmother, I really am the luckiest girl in the world to have gotten such a truly wonderful husband.

Now I feel I get up to me to make IT work. Our boy, yeah, this is messy. So from the house in washington, and quickly got to work making the self improvements that SHE felt were necessary to be a proper society.

Woman SHE planned menus and dinner parties. SHE researched antiques in facts about horse racing. SHE studied educate books.

SHE just wanted to remake herself into somebody that else would welcome them on the family. I think that ship is failed. girl. That ship is on the opposite coast line. But the ship has turned into a space ship, and it's got into orbit, exactly everything away to be possible.

The problem, however, was that end was too much her mother's daughter to ever been considered a property, a proper society woman, so sad. I know he could certainly learn to be refined, poised and cultured, but all the qualities that had so attracted Billy to her, her passion, sexuality, her bold personality, were too ingrained in her to be repressed in the way that was required for proper. So yeah, you got to be boring as fuck and exactly think he's a baby and she's like, I can do that.

I'm not boring. And as a married woman, those qualities now seemed less attractive to be that I in the past, which fuck you yeah that's not cool. No, you can say that you love those things and then you got married and you're really like now you need to stifle them all.

It's like as a long I mean, like you don't like cheating on you and having affairs. Like I understand that like you got to trust that you love each other and trust each other and you can still be boldin. And she's trying like he's she's trying to be what your world requires a but he resented the way that he Carried herself at dinner parties in the quote spell SHE cast on his friends in her dramatic declawed.

So he was like, you have a sexy neck line and IT makes me in quite yet about our fucking cavity. And I can see, I think SHE wore low cut. It's like, what the fuck? Just like, come on, it's like you like that about her sing alone.

They go nowhere. I I got married. You that's a thing like you are going to get some you get the show the whole deal good, just that it's a lot.

It's a little big switch. So like I love these things about you up all of them, right? Because it's to think priority.

Getting married, he found her assertiveness, her brazen sexuality, a refreshing change from the society girls that his mom was constantly pushing him towards. SHE was fun. SHE was exciting.

SHE spoke her mind. And at the time, he found that all altering. But after the wedding, those quality seemed to be diminished by her intense desire to fit in with the crowd of new orkis elite.

He was like, now he felt that her called eagerness for self improvement betrayed exasperating insecurities. So in simple terms, her desperation felt obvious. And IT was embarrassing to Billy, who now often made fun of her in public and behind closed doors for her attempts to gain acceptance with his friends and family.

What the fuck happened here? That really was like a big switch with them. It's like this.

I think you are nice. I think he was going through this rebellious phase where he was like, fuck my family. Like this is great.

fuckyou. And then IT really wasn't a phase and mom was like, this girls, not for you. And he knew that like this wasn't going to work because you are who you are at the end of the day.

Now he's in the sway and now he realizes, like, fuck, this really isn't what I because he was raised to want a certain kind of girl yeah and then he was like, no, that's not what I want and then that he went for something completely opposite was like, well, I want the girl that I was raised to have and it's like, but no, you can have, doesn't work like bad. But the thing was worse, while, and told her personality to down to fit in, SHE still had an incredible sex appeal that was never lost on the other men in the room. I mean, that's not for which incited jealousy and Billy, that hadn't shown itself prior to the marriage.

So SHE is just getting toxic as she's like, sorry that i'm hot and you're not that no, not saying really wasn't hot there. No, he's actually all beautiful. He's very handsome.

The other, he's handsome, she's beautiful. Yeah, all everybody in this story is gorgeous, and there are just beautiful, but it's tragic as hell. So to cope with the growing tension between them and and Billy started drinking more heavily, which is, you know, great. That's always solution, always solution.

What I think everything's going to be fine now too, really be an he frequently criticised her for her drinking at home and in front of their friends but when SHE and Billy weren't locked in some frustrating argument and spent most of her every time trying to win over health wood word, which was just impossible. No, well, they were still living in washington. The two women exchanged polite correspondence, you know, asking about the health of family members and exchanging pleasant trees that were really nothing more than transparent attempts to keep up appearance.

Imagine watching those interactions at a party. These two girls fuck and hate each other. Each other love IT well to hate IT because it's sad.

But, you know, the drama of IT, all the drama here. So in hindsight, the small struggles, the personal digs and the ongoing rejections LED to an explosive conclusion. But he really thought that he was somebody at this point because of the money in the luxury.

But really her heart is broken. Yes, it's not of substance and it's only going to get worse with this next um incident that we are going to talk about. So on thanksgiving morning, one thousand nine hundred and forty three, Billy was temporarily in charge a on the U.

S. Eliz combi, an aircraft Carrier that was stationed in the south pacific. He was in charge while the captain slept. OK to be this opportunity felt an enormous achievement and also a chance to prove his masculinity to those who criticize him or were spreading rumors by this back, because that was a common theme throughout this whole.

Of course, a wife at this pointing people were still talking to a now around five emr torpedo from an enemy u. Boat slammed into the side of the ship in that ripped open the hold, and IT caused a series of explosions from one end of the boat to the other. For nearly half an hour, this boat that they were on slowly sink as explosions just ripped the interior apart.

And fung, the injured and dead from the boat to the, this was beyond tragedy. Billy, who was still in charge at the time, was in a state of shock and could do little more than stare at the chaos as his own body was thrown around by the repeated explosion. Luckily, u.

Tank commander Oliver aims stepped into action, grab ed Billy and drag him to set to into the safety of a lifeboat. If IT weren't for, commander Oliver aims believe most likely would have been among the two thirds on board to die that day. Oh my god, in just a short thirty minutes, billie's chance to prove himself as something more than a softened trust kid, or trust fun kid, had sunk to the bottom of the acidic ocean with nearly five hundred and fifty officers and enlisted men, hundred and fifty died.

Yes, wow. Two thirds of board the survivors were quickly rescued by a ship, a nearby ship, and Billy was treated for a minor burn injuries in shock. In a month later, he was awarded several purple ribbons, excute several ribs in a purple heart in a ceremony decorating him for his bravery and heroism.

The ceremony only seemed to compound the shame that he felt for not only fAiling to avoid the attack by steering the ship away from the area, but also fAiling to show any type of leadership that could have maybe same to the lives of any number of his crew mates. But he was going through all of this and like blaming himself for not doing what he thought was the right thing. exactly.

He was all survival skills, because in his defense, a report published many years later actually found that the U. S. S. List can be was a poorly designed ship that was not properly designed to safely Carry the amount of ammunition on board at the time of the attack. So this really wasn't his fault.

IT was that bad design and poorly secured cargo, rather than poor and experiences leadership, that was the main cause of the disaster. You but Billy wouldn't live to see that publication of the report. And he Carried the wait of those deaths with him until the day he died that off.

And I really, really changed him, of course, that begin if he was obviously suffering from some kind of ptsd, which only pretty recently became part of a national discussion. And now we recognize the effects of combat and what I can do to people. But back then, for billion, in the countless soldiers coming home from all of those horrors on the battlefields of world, world or two, there was this implicit expectation that they would just come home and settle back into domestic life.

You have just get back into your lives. The their realities hadn't been dramatically and horrifically interrupt. Yeah, just like, come on, business as usual, let's go.

Yeah, like going to still do that. Yeah we do really get work. Like I said, only recently are we starting been talking about IT and giving all sources right. But for billing that meant returning to a life of party and and you know parting to access because of the society life that he lived.

And IT also must be strange, like I am not i've been in the military nor have I ever been in the military, but it's so regulated and routine yeah and you know like strict that I feel going back to a life where it's just Lucy gosa and you can do what you want whatever you want to do would all would be so during it's almost how like when people get out of person after long time in prison how like they can't be in these big space yeah and like just you're you become useful and comforted by that yeah you trouble realized that environs so different I like that tough yeah finites even though like you're going back to party and like luxury and like that sounds great yeah but I feel like logically I can imagine what I feel and then i'm sure all he was thinking was like, well, I get to return to this like most people yeah that people think is like this incredible life but like she's probably looking at at all from the outside and right from the sense of IT just drowning is sorry, sorry. I must have been horrific. That's the thing.

So after that disaster, he returned to the us and spent the remainder of the war years working as an aid to Patrick billinger. In nor fog, Virginia, I can't speak. Norfolk, Virginia, north fork, Virginia naval office.

The new position also meant a change of pace for ann, who moved from their house into coma to the home of woodward family friend joe heart for doubles. Joe had known bly almost all her life, and IT always been incredibly fond of him, but he had found A N to be cold at times, and at times also an unfriendly presence in the house. interesting.

Yeah, I think this is one a really starts to go through at two because they're both going through IT in their marriage and then they're both going through these big personnel. Things are like doubting who they are and where they come from. And you know, all of IT and IT didn't take long for any ability to fall back into their routine of arguments that ranged from petty snapping to full on shouting matches.

And somebody else is home much. Come on, guys. In many cases, the arguments were brought on intentionally by Billy, who always seem to be trying to get a rise out of an for one reason or another, which inevitably LED to a major disruption in the Douglas household.

In later years, the tom out of their relationship would be mostly pend on in. But joe remained sympathetic, a sympathetic when I came to and which I do feel speaks volumes when she's like, yeah, SHE wasn't the warmest person and like, was kind of friendly, was kind friendly, but like, I did feel bad for her, SHE told friends. Years after am's death, he was a little girl who had not many opportunities in life.

SHE was not the kind of calculating women we've all seen her on new york. SHE was obviously crazy about billie woodford and dying to break into his world. Wow, that's just somebody like looking from the outside in and who really has right back to a tea a that's a tragic, it's all said so despite the constant arguing between billion and on july twenty seven and eight, forty four and gave birth to their first sun, William would word the third Billy was stationed in philadelphy at the time.

So ae moved into billions. Parents host in where a staff of mads and domestic workers helped tend to the baby nobody. He was out of the navy.

William wood, word senior, started urging his son to take a position with the bank. But Billy had little interest in working, and he really didn't have to. He's a trust on a kid.

yeah. Even though he had experiences significant trauma just a few years earlier and had all the intense, responsibly t ie. s.

Becoming a new parent, he seemed intent on recapturing the fun and a and excitement that he had when he was Young. Grow up, not Billy. He stayed up drinking and Carrying on with friends, and then would sleep until about eleven most days.

So IT is like, dude, you're new father, what you're doing? And this was all well, and spent her days caring for their son, intending to her duties as a society wife. He just spent his days getting drunk with his lifelong gst friend, grenvil bean barker, who was probably the only person in day's life who did understand the traumas of world were to combat.

So that is a very specific trauma, kind of trauma and I think they were very much trauma on IT yeah and of course, I understand that Billy was not getting helped for the ptsd. Was something but at the same time, it's like you have to try to help your wife if you can yeah at least try you know and that doesn't come like he was really making any effort. So from time to time, ann would try to join them for a lunch or drink, but he would always be told, sorry, men only and also gross.

yeah. Like I can understand he's going through P, T, S, D. And all that. I can I don't know that. Like I can't even father and so I will never speak on that and it's like, but and I can even understand that like becoming a new father during that is probably a whole different oh my god thing but like the men only thing in like before that before the disaster he was even being addict to an and like kind of make in fun of her and like being this little boy right it's like grow up right like that he sounding very Peter pan here and it's like the sorry men only thing i'm like harden now I I can give you a lot here, but grow stupid so although Billy refused to take up a formal position at a others bank, he did find other ways to occupy his time, other than just a drinking.

With being barker, a Baker, he SAT on the board of directors for two large companies, Turner, a healthy, which was a textiles company, and united shoe machinery. And he also started taking an interest in the breeding of race horses, which was a passions that he and his father shared together. I am also won that would bring Billy a certain amount of fame for the number of highly successful resources.

Bread, the family, unstable and most dominant, sly. He took an interest in guns and sports shooting while high society, yes, while Billy Carried on, you know, pretty much a bachelor or lifestyle and focused on raising her son and keeping up with the expectations of society. Women, like any dedicated students SHE studied the latest fashions from paris and alan SHE took aleut lessons.

SHE continued her fruitless attempts to impress elsa woods were still in all of IT. She's really trying billions and continue to be seen in public together at slams and parties thrown by all other equally wealthy friends. But behind the scenes their marriage was slowly crumbling.

And perhaps sensing that her husband was slipping away, a an found a renewed interest in keeping her husband entertaining. But by the end of one thousand nine and forty six, his eye had begun to wander, seemingly searching for literally anybody other than an, oh my god, nobody can just be contented. No, why bother? They're getting married.

everybody. yeah. So in january one thousand nine hundred and forty seven, and gave birth to the couple seconds and James among stall this.

But the birth of a second trial did nothing to heal the rift between animals. Illy, that usually doesn't get. By then he had taken the position as the president of hangover bank coach, occupied his days.

And in the evenings he would drink with being or find another activity away from the house and away from, and more often than not, and he would spend his weekends away from his entire family, usually with his mistress, all boy princess marina, a tone tolomeo, I believe. Is that how you SHE? Is brook shield's grandmother? Oh, dam ah, and she's a straight up princess, the whole last prince's and old princess.

wow. yeah. He started having an affair with her more than a year earlier. SHE was an italian social and Billy had met her at a party and just immediately was infatuated by her like an in her Younger years marino was pulled exciting. And most importantly to Billy, SHE was a woman of his class.

Okay, so you you literally like basically teized that those traits out of her, you and shamed them out of her. And now you like this woman has what you used to and it's like SHE had those still, but you shaped out of them because he was never gonna below no, because was a woman that he didn't have title. She's from class, right? Oh yeah, that's sad.

It's really sad. Like I said, I told you this whole story is just and also premarin a you know, he's married. Yeah, that's not good.

Like you've been around all over the place. They got two kids. That's the thing everybody knows. Everybody is much so billies affair with marino was hardly a secret and only made and try harder to please her husband elating. Oh my god, I can't imagine one evening, late one thousand nine hundred and forty six, they went to a party at drill heart for Douglas's house, where they used to live as the evening started, winding down an ability to take her home.

What he did be grudging as he wanted to stay at the party, so he dropped her back at the hotel where they were staying, and he tried to entice him to stay, but he had every intention of returning back to the party. And when SHE tried to stop him at the door, allegedly Billy raised his hand on a threatning manner then and screamed at him, go ahead, hit me. But Billy dropped his hand side heavily and just went back to the Douglasses house.

wow. The violent team was avoided that night, but the same could not be said for subsequent, and usually drunken fights where violence from one or the other would eventually become a they started getting violent with each other and you have two kids yeah and just just like even if you don't like yeah I mean, like it's never ously dorce. I think it's a lot less embarrassing than hitting each other.

AnnaBella's marriage continued as we know, to deteriorate the years that followed. When he wasn't at the stables or on a weekend get away with princess as marina, he retreated to his work. Or spend evenings you get said drinking with being, he's been been as something but A N meanwhile, recommended herself to keeping up appearances in meeting the expectations of a new york social.

SHE was trying basically up until her dying day, shortly after James was born and found a large five story town house on east seventy third street in manhattan. And he convinced Billy to buy IT. SHE filled the home within teek furniture, silk, tapestries, Crystals.

SHE hoped that the house would be the perfect opportunity to show. L, yeah, look, I can do IT. I did this beautiful house together, and I decorated IT like you would yeah.

But L, C, found and taste more goals than classic, like did IT wrong. Good thing you don't have to live there. exactly. So lost in all the chaos of the extra marital affairs, society expectations and drunken fights were Young William A. K.

Water and James, who were usually left in the care of tudes mates and other domestic workers, while their parents marriage just continued to spiral downwards. This so gross, it's awful to the public at large anubis. I lived a charm, typical life of the nation's wealthier families, but everybody in their inner circle knew that their marriage was in shambles, and people were worried.

By one thousand nine hundred and fifty five, after years of lies and drunk in abuse to each other, they mostly seem to hate each other. And they really made no secret of IT in public. They snapped at each other with Billy mockingbirds desperate attempts to fit in with his friends and family, and frequently now accusing him of having more interest in men than women.

And in private, their fights, like I mentioned before, continue to scale to violence. By summer of one thousand nine hundred fifty five, they started sweeping in separate bedrooms in an, was now requiring several drinks and a couple of second, or the second, or or thorium on pills to get to sleep every night. Boy IT were basically s like tranquilizers.

Several of the staff in the house also started to notice a dark turn on her personality. They thought that he had become erratic, in at times paranoid. But nobody dared say anything to hurt Billy because that was a good way to lose your job.

So but things we're starting to get really, really bad. That falls when the children's governors, which is like a money, injure board, sorenson had imployed that something might be wrong and fired her immediately and had the made take take over the care of the children. It's like me, this really just like cares about your family.

Yeah, like something's ride here exactly later. That same, that same nanny would tell the police, he thought, and was either, quote, sick or mentally ill because of the way that SHE was starting to treat Billy a boy, which I think he was at this point. Yeah, sounds like this is just a fucking math. And now so I don't it's unclear to me whether the pills that he was taken to go to sleep pa prescribed or not but one you're taking those interchangeably yeah and then you're drinking your money and it's like, yeah, this is just a recipe for disaster. This is reckless and for like a mental break yeah.

So for the previous several years, the family had been splitting their time between the town house on east seventy third street and their vacation home and oyster, by which is my favorite wine, and also a small town on the eater edge of lung island, very popular with new york, is kind of like, come the hamptons in the fall of one nine hundred and fifty, yeah, I were like, weg, yeah, I love IT. In the fall of thousand nine hundred and fifty five, though, a rush of brains and p. Petty burglaries in a wister bay had put the wealthy residents on edge, particularly and woodworking, whose alcohol and drug abuse had already caused her to become more paranoid in impulse ophir.

In response, SHE began sleeping with a loaded twelve gage double barrel shotgun beside her. But o okay OK like I said, they had an interest in shooting king stuff like that. So they had guns that were intense, like this dam.

In the years since their marriage, both ann billie, like I said, had taken an interest in book game hunting. And they'd gone to india several times where they hunted large cats is absolutely horrible. And as a result of their interest in hunting, both became very proficient with smaller large guns.

So in was confident that he could protect herself. Should anybody break in to the home with this wild deskin can shoot a giant wild animal who was just minding their own business. Then you're pretty ty, pretty good shooting anything so great. I hate that. I hate that stuff so much.

On the evening of october twenty eight, police were actually searching Whiter bay after getting another call about a suspected proud er when they were tipped off by the night watchmen up a camera cinema, which was actually on the woodworth's property that the man on the grounds was supposedly Carrying a shotgun after a search of the property, police actually found no evidence of the powler, but the suggestion alone was enough to invent and that there was real danger. Yeah, that was good. The crap out of me? Yeah, no.

And yeah, just in general, you you're gonna protect your home. And also, by the way, with the hunting thing I was talking about, those big game hunters who go to out like. These countries are like you draft to fuck you. It's that just wild.

Hey, weirdos, i've got the scoop on this amazing skin care product that's gonna honestly be a total game changer for you. Many of you already know and love drunk elephant just as much as I do. And guess what? They just launched to see luma hydrogen serum, a gentle ten percent hydrophones sea serum, not brightens, hydrates, improved clarity and reduces blushes.

It's so funny because I literally got a facial the other day, and the girl who did my facial recommended that this product to me. So I started using IT immediately, and I really do feel so hydrated. I definitely can tell that it's brightening.

IT just looks really, really nice on my skin and IT feels so good, especially in these dry er winter months. Drunk elephant sea luma hajo right serum is ideal for those who are sensitive to traditional vitamin cy formulas, plus you can use IT day and night. I use IT twice a day, and I do have very sensitive skin, and IT has not bothered me at all. Discovered selema serum, a drunk elephant dot com.

So two nights later, billions and attended a dinner party at the home of wallet simpson in Edward the and five days. So was in one, three, five, six. If if you'll remember, they were in the margret allibert story.

Oh, shit. Yes, OK case, I should say not so, uh, that's where they were, just what they turning out with royalty, essentially, of course. And all anybody was talking about that night was the neighborhood oulder.

Because, yeah, what an intense. So throughout the evening, Billy made sure that everybody knew he was ready, shot the prowler show up, and he flashed a pistol that had been holstered beneath his jacket. A an also told several guest about the gun that he was keeping beside her bed to several of the couples at the party.

A an in. Billy specifically seemed obsessed with the powler. Everybody was worried about IT and just like talking generally, yeah, but they seem to like bring IT up in every single conversation that they could and and they thought seemed more paranoid than anything in people viewed Billy as eager to approve his mainly hood. So that's nice.

Nice, but the party would round down a little after midnight and an and Billy, both sufficiently drunk at this point, at that point, said they're goodbye and began to drive back home where they retreated to their respective bedrooms according to an SHE haven't been asleep long when he was awoken by the sand of footsteps on the roof above her bedroom, followed shortly by a crash in the upstairs hallway. Then the barking of the family dog SHE had taken a sleeping pill as soon as they got home that night, so he was groggy as he got out of bed and reach for the shotgun in the chair nearby. No SHE walks slowly to the door, and when he opened IT, SHE saw the shadow of a man in the hallway.

And with the door half open, SHE raised the shocker and fired into the dark, knocking the intruder to the floor. SHE slowly approached the body on the floor, and he was immediately horrified to find that IT was not a proud er. IT was the naked body of her husband.

In a moment of panic and impulsive action, SHE had shot and killed Billy woodworth. Oh, boy. So the investigation into the death of Billy wood word was surprisingly short for someone of his wealth and status.

But ann's version of events was pretty much exactly what I described. SHE told the police in her initial interview. And this was, quote, IT was all done in one movement. IT was so quick I heard the noise, open the door when I fired, as far as the police at the scene can tell, and fired the shot on from her bedroom doorway.

The the first shot had missed and struck the wall, but the second shot quote, recorded off his bedroom door and hit Billy, making superficial wounds on the right side of his face and neck oh, man and then another piece of buckshot struck him in the head, sending a small pellet into his brain hole. Should that blast knocked him backwards into the bedroom where he landed on his stomach and blood to death within ten minutes, god rude way to go. Once SHE realized what they had done in claims that he ran downstairs and throw the remaining ammunition into the back cabinet, quote, fearing that if he had any ammunition at all, SHE would shoot herself because he was so upset.

And a draw at this point as an now our county share of deputy survey. The scene at the word world house, there was little a contradict dance story. Nothing was missing.

There was no sign of a brain. There was no sign of a struggle in a press conference held late of that morning. Now accounting chief of Stevenson panel, I believe, is the name.

Wow, what a name. Quite a name told investigators that the share of office would continue their investigation, but he expected the case was, quote, more likely to be accidental than homicide. wow.

While police updated the press on the events in the woodworth house, the children had been taken the manhattan to stay with William, and while in, who was supposedly in a state of severe shock in historia, was taken to a doctor's hospital on park avenue more SHE was sedated. Days later, elsa woodward hired in a board sorenson, whom an had recently fired to watch the boys. Wow, yeah, a big fuckyou.

IT was a big fuckyou. But I was also like, the boys are used to this woman. That's the thing they're going through like a shit ton of trauma right now.

And IT was honestly stupid of me to fire yeah this woman just for being like i'm going about your family, right? Like you could have just told her mount your business like you didn't need to fire her and it's like your boys, you ve got to think your kids about your kids are comfortable with her SHE if you kept her on, you must be good with your children right then it's like so else he's probably being like i'm just going to put IT you know you know there was shade involved, but I you know that part of IT was like a grand this woman knows them. That's the thing.

Why hire a stranger while they're going through this? great. And like you said, they know her. So they are going to be comfortable. But despite their own shock over the death of their only sn, ow, L, C and Williams spring into action, taking control of the story and instructing those within their circle as to how they should respond. The day after the shooting, the story was the headline in most metropolitan papers, but the story was surprisingly light on the details.

Some articles focus more on Billy's ownership of the celebrated horse, then they did, on the fact that his wife had shot him to that. Yeah, that's pretty big. Other outlets, meanwhile, printed ty carefully crafted and highly suspect story about the woodworth story book of romance.

Oh yeah, the only times claimed no one in top level society had more fun than an oh, but I think many people did. According to the l times article, elsa woodward was, quote, unable to go to coma when billions and were married there, but he did everything after they arrived in new york to launch. And socially and SHE cherie shed her two little, there are two little sons, which I believe part of that, but he definitely try to try.

And socially, the report goes on to say, having interviewed all the guest of the party that evening, as well as the woodworth's family and friends, police found no evidence of discord between the woods words and that they were in love. Ohh, you share about that. You sure about that. I'm like everybody else after like not talking to the times, but talking among each other was like while they fucking hated each other in the end.

Now, while some news outlets were intend to accept the obviously fabricated stories of a happy marriage and domestic bliss, others, doug, deeper into the story on november first, the buffalo evening news included among their reporting a brief news note on an's father, Jessie crawl, whom he claimed was dead after he was shown a photo of his daughter. He told the paper, I could very well be her. I used to hear about her sometimes in a round about way.

I thought he married. I thought he was married somebody out in california. Wow like yes but they're just embarrassing anker at this point yeah publicly yeah I mean, he claimed he was dead. Yeah so I guess like they're all kind of just noight and at each other at this point, yeah, exactly.

All the reports of order on on saving behavior soon followed, including quotes from the recently fire governance in the board sance in there, who told reporters miss wood word would sometimes get up in middle of the night and pound on his door, screaming for him to open up. SHE was a very suspicious woman. Like I said, I think in the end they both just lost IT. I mean, with all the stress and drinking, drinking and drugs and all all everything, I I think he was at SHE SHE had a mental break, I definitely think sounds like that's what like.

And despite the woodworth's family, the woodworth family's best efforts to control the story, rumors about ann Billy managed to find their way into them, while paper is in in around new ork city, stuck with all seas version of the story because they knew what was good for them ah the press and other parts of the country published way more salacious details the same Francisco examiner route for the last six years, the married life of billion and woodward was marked with quarles threats of divorce, long separation in sudden reconciliation and even worse, the papers were digging more and more into ance background and early life in kansas. Threatening to expose everything he had worked to cover up into her adult is a way to exist as the press continued to spend the story every which way they could and remained in a private roman at the doctor's hospital, supposedly being treated for shark, but also to avoid uncomfortable questions from the press. In police, while ann combust, elsa dispatched a team of lawyers and private investigators to clean up the mess.

First in formal SHE wanted to know if there was any proof vans guilt, and if so, wanted to know, could he be convicted if there were to be a trial? Elsa was mourning the loss of her son, but he was still a member of the new york's old guard aristocracy. And as such, her primary directive in the wake of the killing was to control the story and protect the reputation of her family. I mean that that's what they're built to do litera protect reputation. That's all IT is.

So a week after Billy's death, twenty two year old paul worths, in occasional brick layer, a known felon, was arrested on proudly and burglary charges in oasis bay so he was the guy that was the really was the arrest cast ends claims in a new light, causing many to wonder whether the arrest of an actual prawl er exonerated her of any wrongdoing and in a suspicious and conveniently time confession words submitted to being on the woodworth's property at the time of the shooting, which gave create stand story of shooting Billy only after he heard the sounds of a proud ler yeah he told the detectives of hearing the shock on blast that killed Billy. I slam the door and ran like hell to using, I really was there right now. Given the influence of old money in high society power on the political systems of small towns like going to bay, IT really shouldn't come as any surprise that paul worth seem to have all the answers in details that would allow the detectives to wrap up that case metal.

And very quickly he actually only came forward to confess after he was visited by a detective who, quote, urged him to shed any light he could on the shooting of William wood ward junior. Only after that visit, he was proud by his conscience into changing his story. Oh, you don't say he had told a different story at first. Now, two weeks after his confession, a grand jury convened in nasai in a asai courthouse.

To determine whether an was at fault for her husband's death, in total, thirty one witnesses were called to testify, including nearly all the attendees of wallet simple party, those in the house at the time of the shooting, and of course, paul words among the more significant witnesses called was doctor gene olden, a psychiatrist who evaluated, and just right after the shooting occurred, this doctor told the jury that, quote, the shooting was an accident based on ands unconscious impulse and had no centre SHE only leave a police Billy. I don't buy her shooting him as a conscious decision. I can see that.

I see that during the hearing, the assistant distant attorney, Edward Robinson, was careful to remind the jury that the question before them was simple, is the evidence of a homicide that is criminal homicide and the answer was, no, yeah. He said. After listening to the testimony, the jury unanimously agreed with Robinson, and they found no evidence of a crime having been committed by an.

They did, however, find paul worth guilty of burglary. And three months later, a judge sentenced him to tend to twenty years in prison, after which his lawyer announced they would, quote, seek a party in albany so that works, can be deported without having his sentence, having without serving the sentence. So that was all big mass.

yeah. But although SHE been cleared of the murder of her husband in court to say that and never paid a Price for billie death would be wildly and act. I can imagine SHE is requested herself in that private room in a doctor's hospital in manhattan, while else wood word was pulling every string and leveraging every single connection SHE had not need to force and out of a family, but to ensure that he took nothing with her when he left, including her two children.

Oh, within days of their father's death, both woodward boys were assigned a special guardian manhattan lawyer, herald corbon. According to the family spokesperson Williams Collins, carbon was assigned as the boy special guardian to protect their, quote, large financial interest in the states of their father and grandfather. In reality, the guardian was really put in place to keep the kids away from A, N, while L, C, came up with among a more long term strategy to deal with her unwanted daughter in law a boy, yeah.

Just days before the jury was to convene, elsey called the end to the word world's to discuss Billy's will. IT seemed that he had made a handful of changes in one thousand nine hundred and forty eight during the height of his affair with marini. Oh no.

That affected ands inheritance. And IT was important that the details be imparted to her, imparted to her before the trial. I'll see thought among the changes.

Ann was now to receive twenty five hundred dollars in cash and quote, a lifetime income of one third of billions estate, which was far less than he had been expecting by there are remaining two thirds would go to the children. But then L. C.

Made an hha est proposition. The woods words would not chAllenge her inheritance, and they would forgive the hundred thousand dollar loan that they made to end for some additional property and noise ebay. And in exchange, SHE would not object to her boys being sent to the li rosy as a boarding school in switzerland.

wow. So they're like we're not going to chAllenge your inheritance and we will let that long go and will let that long go. And in turn, you're going you're really not have sent away. Your children are being sent away and you're not really getting any of the money that you're entitled to wow in hindsight and would obviously regret accepting else's proposition by that at the time, he felt like shouldn't really have a choice. SHE was still Young, but he had no practical, marketable skills to speak up at this point.

And so without the inherited ance from Billy estate, SHE would be desk to SHE would at least chAllenge if SHE didn't expect if SHE didn't accept IT it's true that he would have still had her children but they wouldn't have been able to access the money from their fathers of state for many years meaning that not only SHE but the boys would have been destitute. Yeah, so he was trying, did the best thing. Yeah, he did the best thing for her kids in face for those two terrible choices.

SHE did what he thought was best. He believed that they would at least be taken care of material ally, if not emotionally. But making matters worse, l see also also suggested that end quote would be Better off for at least four years of SHE made her home abroad so he was like, get the fuck out of here oh yeah, dam.

And had little choice but agreed to the terms. And by the end of the year, the boys were shipped off to switzerland and SHE relocated to europe. Elsa is powerful. SHE is very powerful day. She's very see this coming for l especially with the name like L I love the name L I, L, I, I, I don't l there like just straight up just been like you're going to move to europe and your boys are going to switzerland and we're not going to a chAllenge the little amount that my son life and well, exactly like I don't see that of an else, but I think he was like you killed my son yeah and like I believe you did that on purpose.

I think she's looking from the beginning and she's going i'm pretty sure you had an affair with my husband you and then that all said in all of don't think it's right all absolutely, but I but that's why else's being so ruthless, easily seeing this as as validation end at the end of the day, even had all of that not happened. He killed her son. Yeah, you know, just whether intentional or not he did.

So she's to L, C. S. L, C is out for blood, yeah, exactly now initially, and plan to resist L, C suggestion that SHE relocate herself and instead continue her life in manhattan as mrs.

William, what were junior? But SHE underestimated all season influence in new york. I think we all did. so. Sh'd tried to stay in new york, and IT seems that everywhere he went, people were sympathetic to his edication. But we're unable to accommodate or unwilling to socialize with her, particularly her former friend charlie nicker bocker, who had reported the details of ants parenting failures to the new york times. Oh, everyone turned on her by one thousand nine hundred fifty six.

He saw no reason to remain in new york, and he did leave the country in the years, and eventually decades, that followed billie's death and floated around up in the united states, becoming increasingly dependent on the fleeting in, this is a quote, the fleeting kindness of authorities. O's juglans goods, maritus, odd balls and conman, oh boy, this is very sad. It's awful.

Her life was a shadow of what he wants, was, and most among new york society had forgotten all about in, but not rubin capote. And he had an exterminate. Oh no.

Yeah, you don't want to be on his act that's get, I don't want him having any access to grand with me. no. So the following is all alleged.

And based on an account of rosan montiel, SHE recalled that capote's had run into n wood word in one thousand nine hundred and fifty six, while SHE was out dining at a restaurant and send more murals with her companion for the evening. A man name clause van bulow. His name might sound familiar because he tried to poison his wife, legem.

Oh, kay, yeah, you know. But capote glared at end from his table, finding her being in the presence of a man so soon after her husband's death to be in very poor taste. Oh, eventually capote's wandered over to the table and made a crude remark, to which and responded by calling a pody a little fsu.

Er, oh yeah. The exchange was very nasty ah but brief and hardly an unfamiliar insult oppoi. But IT was one that he would hold on to for three decades before getting some kind of payback at the time of their unpleasant exchange, exchange and same words, and was an exiled sociate and truing.

The pod was a promising Young writer in the years that followed, celebrity continue to decline, while capotes rose, yeah, I thought grade primarily through the publication of wildly popular novels like in cold blood, which we've talked about, and his widely covered society parties like the notorious, notorious black and White ball by the in one thousand nine hundred and seventy, though, he had been any years long slump. And the novel that he had been promising to his publisher answered prayers amounted to not really much more than a few chapters of high society gossip. In fact, truman surprised nearly everybody went without permission from his editor.

He actually published one of the stories from a forthcoming manual script in the november issue of esquire. Oh, shit. Yes, you going to get trouble for that. So the short story, like coat desk, I think, is how you say that sounds really bad if you're american.

IT focuses on a gossip conversation between two new york social lights over lunch, during which they trade rumors and secrets about other ladies and their social circle until they eventually get around to one of the more scandal stories, that of an hopkins quote, a once poor social climate who slips and schemes her way into new york's society before ultimately shooting her husband to death, or claiming that SHE for an truder shut the fuck. Yeah, just was like, boom, he was like, i'm not talking about you. yeah.

The characters in the story were finally discussed, for sure, of actual society, women at the time, including Gloria vender, bill, oh, be pale, if I can, as I bay pale. And of course. And what were, oh, no yeah. Yet while many of the women in the story are portrayed in a somewhat unflattering light, the real target of his cutting weight was and wood ward, while the other women in the story are gossipy and unkind. Quote, quote, and hopkins is betrayed as a gold digging sexually promised you as social climate and murderer, which effectively reignited the rumors and sander surrounding Billy wood words of death.

Perhaps IT was coincident, or maybe SHE somehow received in advanced reader's copy of capote story, but on october ten, one thousand nine hundred and seventy five, just days before the story was published in squire took her own life by interesting sign. I had no idea that how they ended. yeah.

Who when the news of her death hit the paper, L. C. Wood, word is reported as as having said, well, that's IT.

SHE shot my son in truman, murdered her, which obviously treatment did not murder her. That's what else. What else said that? Well, that's that. yeah. As SHE shot my son and truman capote e murdered her to say truman capote e is responsible for the death of van.

And many people have said that would be wrong and unfair, but it's not unreasonable to assume that after decades of heartbreak, this treatment and disappointment, the news of the book coming out was the final disappointment that did probably send in over the edge. Whether or not IT IT was the main thing that contributed to horses or her suicide or not is unknown, but the story was met with very hostile criticism for its cruelty involved. Arty and IT not only ended capote's writing career, but also many of his close relationships with the women unflatteringly portrayed in the story.

And I think that's what the new show is about, exactly which I to watch that yeah, i'm very close to them like, wow. yeah. Now the book that the story was to be included and answered prayers was actually never published.

And in the years that followed, capote's alcoholics sm in drug abuse worsened until he finally died of livered disease and drug in toxic on August twenty fifty, one thousand and eighty four. wow. yeah.

Unfortunately though, the tragedy of the woods word family did not end with the death of any one word in one thousand nine hundred and seventy six, after years of struggling with substance abuse and mental health issues in Billy's Youngest son, James also died by suicide when he threw himself from his hotel window. Oh, jeez, both boys had struggled considerably. Ly, in the wake of their father's death.

But William, what he would word the third, managed to succeed in the decades after his parents death. Death s succeeds me. He became a successful journalist.

He ran for political office. He actually served as new york states deputy superintendent of the banks. ow. And then he just left to the public kind, live a quiet life. Good for him.

By all account, team managed to avoid the effects of generational trauma that ended the lives of his three immediate family members. But then something went entirely wrong. No, on main second ninety ninety nine, he too threw himself out the kitchen window of his fourteen floor new york apartment, dying, obviously, as soon as he hit the ground.

What the what is a not so dark like both of their children died the same way I throwing themselves from a build like that. Really, I feel that really sad. Yeah, no, they did mask. No, they did not ask the midst of all this bullshit at all. They should have just been left alone.

Yeah, after all this now obviously will never know whether the death of Billy wood were truly wasn't accident or something more inferior, but roland montell's twenty twenty two book deliberate cruelty suggest that there was some truth to the rumors that an murdered Billy, according to montiel, shortly before his death, Billy had travelled to p. Pitzer, kansas to buy a small prop plane from a private seller. And he ran in to somebody who recognised ed him as an's husband, that individual, through that individual in a number of others.

Billy learned that an's entire history, as he had explained to him, was a lie. And he was eager to return to new york to confront his wife. Now, the revelation that she's been so deeply untruthful would have been grounds not only to divorce and but also to obtain sole custody of the kids and leave her with no financial resources.

So simply put, according to this story, he was going to undo everything that and had worked so hard to achieve and deliver her back to the thing that he feared, more than anything, a life of poverty in significance. So some people wonder, is that what happened? Is that why he shot him? Yeah, but we won't know.

But when you step away all the money, the jewellery in the privilege, what ann really wanted was security and to be accepted, valued by those around her. And he never really got that. no.

And he really had no idea that the link SHE was willing to go to to achieve those things would have very wide and long repercussions that would end the lives of every single member of her immediately. family. I am speechless at how horrifying that all ended up.

What a tragic everyone in magic tale as three and four by suicide, in one from murder, possible murder, but like an intentional tension is right. Wow, how fucked up. That's a really and it's so sad like that you and it's not all that glitters goals and like that shows you you look at it's the same thing is looking at like social media or something we've seen to happen again and again.

Everything looks hunky dory. A is not as cleaner. Don't know what's happening behind closed doors. It's like jam isn't not so sad when you live your life for you know material things and everybody else opinions and everybody else, you know, judgment of you. Well then, man, that's just like really sad all the way around.

That was stories said in this story I know from beginning, and that's the thing I want to look up on, that that treated compote shows coming out. Yeah, holy. That's a wild, wild story. A wild story in one i'd heard the names before, but i'd never heard the whole story.

I just think I had heard the like you just i'd heard the names before yeah but then I was like, way, I want to look more into this and dave was like, all I know their story ve was like girls. So dave obviously helps like so much with like the research on this and especially putting like a the context contextual things and the yeah exactly in parts of IT. And actually dave is the one to tell us about the show that it's called few capote versus the swans.

I'm trying to see when IT comes up. Life hasn't already I know now because i'm like, damn, what's the dots are watching this seriously IT looks because I think me the year is playing yeah and word's ard, let me see I think you're right and I think Molly ringwald isn't IT. She's playing one.

I'd like there's a lot of heavy, heavy hitters. Yes, tom holders is playing tremontes pody nail me. Watts is playing barbra pai. Dian lane is playing slum. Key saving is gonna in IT dane, I do not see anything about to me, but I think you're right.

Yeah, I think she's playing in word d genuine thirty first january thirty thousand twenty four the day after after the vender pump er rules. Well, A K I just sounded really old there. The vendor, the the rule after my programs are on january first and be eight on wednesday.

I love that. I love of many series. I did you, especially one to scandale. So as this one, yeah then there's going to be even more scandal because there's like a bunch of mother woman for real thanks telling what such a compelling and horrifying story you're welcome so much and thanks again for helping me with IT and um we hope that you keep listening and we hope you keep IT but so where that of this because oh my god, that's so tragic. Just love people and accept them for who they are, even if they don't come from your yeah the grass, not always Greener.
