Fox Sports Update. The United States women's soccer team defeated Brazil 1-0 to win the gold at the Paris Olympics. U.S. forward Mallory Swanson found the back of the net in the 57th minute. Swanson scored four goals in the tournament. Brazil legend Marta came on in the second half of her sixth Olympics in what is expected to be her final major international tournament.

American gymnast Jordan Childs is in danger of losing her floor exercise bronze medal. The Court of Arbitration for Sport voided the appeal made by U.S. coach Cecile Landy to have one-tenth of a point added to Childs' score. That initial ruling boosted Childs from fifth place to third, but the CAS determined the inquiry came outside the one-minute window allowed by the International Gymnastics Federation.
The federation then restored Romania's Ana Barbosa to third place. Her teammates Sabrina and Maneca Boya is listed fourth. Childs is fifth. No word yet on whether Childs will be forced to surrender her medal.
In baseball, Mookie Betts will make his return to the field Monday after suffering a broken left hand in June. But Betts will be moved from shortstop to right field for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Manager Dave Roberts says Betts will make the switch when L.A. plays Milwaukee. Roberts says Betts is the most confident right now in right field versus at shortstop.
Nets moved to the leadoff spot shortly after joining the Dodgers from the Boston Red Sox in 2020. Nets has made it known he prefers to be a short.
