Fox Sports Update. Baltimore Orioles outfielder Tyler O'Neal wishes opening day would come around more often. O'Neal drives one the other way. That's headed out toward right field. He's done it again!
That was courtesy of MASN as O'Neal launched a three-run home run in the third inning against the Blue Jays, extending his major league record by leaving the yard for the sixth straight opening day. Baltimore went on to easily take care of Toronto, 12-2, as the Orioles hit a franchise record six opening day home runs. Staying in the division, Austin Wells got the Yankees off to a fast start in New York's first at-bat of the season. Here's a 2-0.
That is ripped into right back at the wall. See ya! Home run! What a start. Yankees on top one zip. Sound courtesy of ESPN as Wells became the first catcher to hit a leadoff homer on opening day. Devin Williams earned the save in his Yankees debut despite loading the bases and needing to throw 36 pitches when the Bronx Bombers kicked off their AL pennant defense with a 4-2 victory over Milwaukee.
Let's head over to college basketball. Even with the Sweet 16 underway, the transfer portal is a major topic of conversation. The portal opened on Monday, forcing teams still playing in the NCAA tournament to at least spend some energy on building a roster for next season. Auburn head coach Bruce Pearl told reporters today that he understands why the portal opens when it does. That doesn't mean he's a fan of everything related to the transfer process. I'm also not a big fan of
of this transfer every year. We're teaching the kids to flee, not fight. I think the one-try and transfer is great. I think the grad transfer is great. Pearl Tigers, the top seed in the tournament, face off against five-seed Michigan on Friday. You can listen and follow the Fox Sports Podcast at foxsports.com or wherever you get your podcasts.
