The idea of World infused Jazz may not sound promising but the three members of Trio Globo have created something truly special with their newest album, Steering by the Stars. Eugene Frinsen is excellent with the cello as evident from the albums opening title track and carries through all thirteen songs. Howard Levy skills on the flute are exceeded only by his poweress with a harmonica and Glen Velez's percussion work is objectively magical. Each one of theire pieces offers a sound that is unique in its own way but also equally outstanding - including the impromptu session "Three Musicians" as well as the pair of covers from Woody Guthrie and John Coltrane.
