**1. Water Resources Department resumes 48 work on embankment schemes - **The Water Resources Department has resumed all the 48 works that got halted owing to the two earlier lockdown phases. These projects pertain to repairing, reconstruction and protection of critical and vulnerable embankments, closing of breaches, pro-siltation and anti-erosion measures across Assam under the 'State Owned Priority Development Flood Damage Repairing' (SOPD FDR) scheme.
**2. Lockdown: Private Bus Operators not to ply vehicles - **The private bus operators have refused to ply their vehicles even after the Assam Government gave relaxation in the ongoing third-phase of lockdown. The operators said that running of buses with 50 per cent capacity would prove 'suicidal' for their business that have been already hit by lockdown.
**3. NRL benefits through crude oil imports from Petronas, Malaysia - **Taking advantage of plummeting prices of crude oil in International Market , NRL is importing 21 TMT of Crude oil from Petronas, Malaysia. The crude oil vessel MT S-Trader has sailed off from Miri Port of Malaysia on 05 May, 2020 and is expected to reach Haldia on 12. May, 2020. Crude Oil is presently traded in the market in the range of 19 USD per BBL to 24 USD per BBL against normal crude oil average price of 50 to 55 USD / BBL. Crude oil price varies based on its characteristics.
**4. Assam Liquor shops earn Rs 25 crore revenue in just two days - **Liquor has literally brought cheers to depleting coffers of many States including Assam. Nearly 50 per cent liquor vends in the country opened on Monday, after the Union Home Ministry (MHA) granted shops permission to reopen in green and orange zones, as well as those located outside COVID-19 hotspots or containment areas in red zones. Soon after reopening of liquor shops on Monday, the Assam Government has earned revenue to the tune of Rs 25 crore till Tuesday. The total liquor sale was more than Rs 75 crore in the State.
**5. One more tests positive for Coronavirus in Assam, tally rises to 44 - **One more person has tested positive for novel coronavirus in Assam, taking the tally to 44 in the state so far. The person is from Kokrajhar. Revealing this Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma , on Tuesday night tweeted, "One person from Kokrajhar district with a travel history of Koch Behar has tested positive for COVID-19. Total COVID-19 cases in Assam now stands at 44."
**6. 368 vehicles seized, 230 fine cases over Rs 32 lakh fine collected on first day - **Despite the third phase of the lockdown kicked in on Monday with several relaxations, as many as 368 vehicles were seized and 230 fine cases were detected under the Guwahati Police Commissionerate for violation of the norms. Out of the total seized vehicles, 323 are two wheelers, 6 three wheelers and 39 four wheelers. A total fine of Rs. 32,7,000 was realized and 223 non-FIR cases were sent to the court.
**7. Assam Teachers’ body demands jobs regularisation - **A teachers’ organisation in Assam has raised demand for their job regularisation. The Sodou Asom Betan Banchit Shiksyak Snatha Secretary Basanta Neog said that the salary deprived teachers in the state are worst hit by the ongoing lockdown.
**8. ASDMA revised guidelines for third phase of lockdown in Assam - **In continuation of order no. ASDMA 24/2020, the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), on Tuesday, issued a set of guidelines for the third phase of the lockdown.
**9. Two women drug peddlers arrested in Guwahati City - **The sleuths of CID (Crime Investigation Department), on Monday, arrested two women drug peddlers on Tuesday. The sleuths have recovered 11 containers of heroin and two mobile phones from the accused - Rahina Begum and Reena Begum.
