Now, let the buzz begin! Woo!
Hey everybody and welcome to AfterBuzz TV. This is the after show for Chasing Life. This is season 2 episode 9, Wild Thing. Welcome everybody, I'm your host Heather Joy Smith and you can find me on Twitter at Heather Joy Smith along with my lovely co-host tonight, Kristen. Hi guys, I'm Kristen Strange. You can find me on Twitter at Kristen underscore Strange. And you guys are lucky, it's just us two tonight. We're really the most important ones. Duh.
Um, so last night's episode, wild thing, obviously April went a little crazy in the episode. Yeah. A little? Just a little. I liked it. I kind of liked it too. Yeah. It was different for her. She needed to explore that side of herself, you know? She did. Everyone needs to go a little crazy. At least once. You know? Twice. She should have gone to Mexico. Really. Right. She probably should have. Yeah. But...
Whatever. Whatever. Boston will do. So it starts out with her kind of getting Leo's... I don't know if it's his insurance money or his inheritance type thing. She comes on this... Probably the rest of his trust fund. Trust fund, yeah. She gets this large sum of money from Leo. And she's like...
Like, fighting internally about the struggle. Like, do I give the money back? Do I keep the money? What do I do with this money? And her mom kind of says, like, just keep it. Yeah. Like, you deserve it. Yeah. I mean, that's tough because it's, like, tainted, you know? Right. It's like everything you buy with that money is, like, the aura of your dead husband on it. And that's, like, gotta suck. You don't want to spend that. And, like, you didn't earn it. You don't feel like you earned it. But...
I mean, I'm sure his parents don't need it or want it back. So it's like... That was like my first thought. So why don't you just give it to his parents? But I'm like thinking, wait, they don't need it. She should. If she doesn't want it, she should donate it to like cancer research or something. But I mean, she also is unemployed. She needs help with money. She needs, you know, she's not working. She needs to be able to pay her medical bills, take some of the stress off her mom who's like dying trying to keep their family afloat. Right. Like...
She needs some of it, so she should keep some for herself. But if she doesn't want the rest of it and she just wants to work for her money because she's April and that's what she would want to do, I bet you she will end up donating some of it to cancer research. Yeah, I'm actually shocked her mom was so open about her spending the money. Because this kind of goes back, I don't know, four episodes again when they had to
pull Brenna out of Charton because her mom was struggling to pay the bills. It's like, wouldn't you help your mom out? Give her some money back? Obviously she needs some. Right. But that doesn't make for a good episode as we know. Her mom is a therapist. True. And I don't know about you, but I think that retail therapy is very, very effective. Yes. Yes.
I 100% agree with the Louboutin purchase, just for the record. You're the only person that I thought about. I see them walk past, I see their red soles. I'm like, Heather loves this episode already. I do. If you guys don't know, I'm obsessed with Louboutins, and I will buy them on a whim for no reason. I'm surprised she didn't wear them tonight. I almost did, but I figured you guys couldn't see my feet, so there was no point in me wearing them. It's the feeling that matters. I don't have a pair of Louboutins, but...
That's because I'm poor, but one day maybe. One day. Or if you get an inheritance. Right. Well, when I get my inheritance from my dead husband, I'd love to get a pair of thousand dollar shoes. My birthday is coming up, though. Her birthday is coming up. So if anyone is rich and can afford a pair, there you go. Um.
I love the fact, though, that her mom said, why don't you sell the motorcycle? And I knew right when her mom said sell the motorcycle, I was like, mm-mm. She's going to want to drive it. Yeah. I'm like, she is going to be up to something. She looks super badass on that motorcycle. Oh, my God. With her heels, I was like, yeah. I'm so jealous. I can't look that cool.
I know. I was actually thinking about, like, I wonder if this is really a Talia Ricci on the motorcycle right now. I was like, because this is so well done. I'm like, dang, that was good. I would keep the motorcycle, too. I would, too. Yeah, I would just learn to ride it. Yeah. Like, that's, like, something that she can share with him now. I mean, I've always wanted to learn how to ride a motorcycle. And my friends have always told me that I'm dumb because I could never do that. And I've tried to ride a dirt bike, and I can't. Yeah.
I just like continue to stall them. But if I were her and I had all the money to pay for lessons, I would do it. Heck yeah. Yeah.
I just, I feel like maybe, you know, Leo loved his motorcycle. Yeah. Maybe that's, like, when she gets on it, she can, like, love it. Exactly. And him, and, like, yeah. Fill up her, like, maybe he's there. Like, she can, yeah, she can ride it, like, imagine she's, like, holding on to him. Right. It's, like, a feeling of, like, I don't know, like, sharing something that he loved. Right. That she never got to share with him. I absolutely agree. I think she should keep the motorcycle, which I think she's going to do. Yeah.
She doesn't have a car. That's right. She doesn't have a car. Boston's a big city. Public transportation is not always effective. It's perfect for her. Yeah, it really is. Yes, early happy birthday to Kristen.
If you want her address to send you some lubes, let her know. Just kidding. No. I'll give you my address instead. I'm just kidding. My size 8 1⁄2, guys. Let's go on to April having a wild night. Oh, my God. I was so jealous that she had so much energy at 145. Yeah.
Okay, you guys. So we went out last weekend because it was my birthday. So this is where the shoes come into for my birthday. No, I'm just kidding. We went out last weekend and we barely made it to 11 o'clock.
For her to be out until like 1.45, I was like, you go, girl. You got the energy I do not have. I was like, we are the same age. Why can I not stay out as late as you? She wanted to shut the bar down and then some. Yeah, I know. I don't remember the last time I was at a bar at 1.45. I know. I don't remember the last time I was awake at 1.45. Yeah, good point. It's like 9.15 right now, and I'm tired.
It's bedtime. She's sick. How is she awake? How did she do this? I don't understand. I do want to point out the fact that I think that the bartender was really, really harsh on her. I don't think he needed to act like that. He could have just said no. Right. Or been like, you know what? I'm sorry. We have a policy. So we actually, insurance reasons, we can't stay open late.
and she would have been like, oh man, and like fussed a little bit, but then she would have like gone away. But he had to call her a name right off the bat. Right. He was so rude. Like, I don't care if you're the bar owner. No. You don't treat somebody like that. It's a customer service industry. Exactly. It's a customer service industry, and I feel like
Obviously, there's liquor laws. Like, you can't serve past a certain time. So that's all he really had to say. I'm sorry. Legally, I can't keep the bar open. I would love to, even if you didn't really want to. But...
you know, it took her real, like, not very long to be like, money! Right. Like, now she just thinks she can buy her way out of anything. She's like, money, you want money? Stay open. You want money? Give me your drugs. Money! Which I wish they would have told us, like, how much money she actually came. Because I was like, that'll go,
quick April. Right. I'm like, did he give you like 50,000 or 50 million? Right. Because like, obviously like 50 grand is going to go real quick. Real fast if you're spending it like she is. I know. I kind of imagine that it's like somewhere between like 800,000 to a million. That's what I kind of thought too. Yeah. Or like maybe a couple million. Because his dad like bought a whole wing of the hospital. It's not like he didn't have a massive trust fund. Exactly. So, I mean...
Who knows? Maybe they'll touch on it later. Maybe they won't. Who knows? I just really wanted a number, but we're not going to get that. They probably won't. Okay, so then she goes and takes ecstasy. Yeah. Well, everyone has to at some point, right? Like, that's one of those things you've got to experience before you die, apparently. I feel like if it is...
Not doing, like, doing it while you have cancer is very, very risky. And all the chemicals she's putting in her body. Also doing it alone. Right. You have to realize her friend did not do it. Her friend was like, go away. She was like, no. No. She should have just stayed with her husband, Robbie and Mel. Right. I love that. If you had a little cameo. That's cute.
Because she actually teased that in her Instagram, if you guys didn't see. So we were all like, wait, what's going on? I was like, oh my god, he's going to be her love interest. They're going to have so much on-screen chemistry. It's going to be amazing! But no, they just had zero on-screen chemistry because he was just a druggie. Maybe he'll come back. I know. He's like the new Leo. Open your world to all these drugs. He's like, I've changed.
I don't know. Who knows? But it ends up with her at Dominic's. And I'm kind of glad that he said no to her, like, wanting to rub his hand or whatever weird thing she was doing. She was, like, massaging it. And I was like, pull your hand away, Dominic. Right. And, like, he obviously was like, uh. You could see there was a moment where he was like, I want to kiss you. No.
No, I know I can't. So I like the fact that he was really respectful in that, you know, scene and just kind of was like, no, you hug the pillow now. That was good. You could tell that that was hard for him. But at the same time, like, Dominic, what are you thinking? Her husband just died. I know. Like, she...
she's not going to be okay for a long time. A long time. And obviously we saw right after that her calling her mom and crying and stuff. I'm glad that that happened. Not that she was sad, but like she was feeling and processing emotions. Right. I was actually really confused though because she called her mom, I thought, to come pick her up.
But then she didn't go home until the next morning. I think she just called her mom to talk. Just to talk? Because her mom said, do you want me to come pick you up? And she was like, no. Oh, okay. Okay. But also, Dominic made her sleep on the couch. Rude. He should take the couch and he should have put her in his bed. I agree. 100%. Or doesn't he have this new house? Why doesn't he have two beds? Oh, yeah. Maybe he hasn't moved in yet. Maybe. But, I bet...
Eventually she'll move into that house. With Dominic? Yes. Ugh. Oh my god. I know you're dying inside. I can't. No. He does not get her. Not now. No. No. I just like want her to want Leo forever.
It's very selfish of you. I know. I'm really sad. Doesn't she deserve love a second chance? No, she does, but, like, not for a long time. Okay. And I read an interview with one of the, like, executive producers, and they said that Leo does not come in at all in season two. Oh, he's really dead. He's, like, really dead. Like, no more flashbacks, no more anything. Like, Leo is gone.
Forever. I know. You'll have to watch Blin Noil now. I'm going to have to to get my Scott Michael Foster fix. And then there's a little Chase Crawford mixed in with that, so that can't hurt anyone. That's always a good thing. Yep. Okay, so George ended up lying to April about her dad wanting to be with Natalie's mom. Because... This is kind of confusing, sorry. Um...
April went up to Natalie and said something along the lines of like her, their dad wanting to be with her mom. Or no, her mom wanting to be with their dad. At like the end of his life. At the end of his life. And she was like, no, my mom's been with so-and-so for many years. They're happy together, whatever. And April's like, um. That's not what Uncle George said. That's not what George said.
So how do we feel about George lying now? George shredding the book? Like all these little shady things George is doing.
As much as I want to believe he was just trying to preserve his brother's legacy as a good thing, that book obviously doesn't paint him as a good guy. I think that he can't be doing it for no reason. What's the point of him lying and saying, oh, your father, Olivia wanted to be with your father when she obviously didn't? And also, does he think that they don't talk? Did he think that that wasn't going to come up? Right.
Well, I'm wondering if he told Natalie, or told April this, like, long before they ever met Natalie. Well, no, because he told her that in, like, last episode or two episodes ago. And, yeah. Hmm. He was like, yeah, your father, when she gave him the book. Oh, you're right. He was like, yeah, your father, you know, there's stuff going on with Olivia. She wanted more in their relationship. Mm-hmm.
Interesting. Yeah. I don't know. Maybe he's still alive. That would be weird. That would be weird. I feel like it would... Wasn't there, like, some big actor, like, well-known actor that was playing her dad, too? Like, would he sign on to this? I don't know. We'll have to go back onto IMDb and see who it was and then look on his IMDb and see what he's up to. Yeah.
It's like, oh, he's been in Chasing Life for five episodes? What? Like, excuse me? But I do want to mention, though, that George is going to help Brenna with Finn. And, like, getting him, what does he have? His lymphoma treatments. And so there was, like, a special one that he needed to do.
And obviously George, that's his specialty. So I'm glad he is doing something nice for Finn and Brenna. And that was sweet of him to show up to her film premiere. Like, no one was there. So sweet. And to actually, like, ask questions and pretend like he was, like, a fan. I was so cute. I was wondering who was going to show up, too. I was like, is Finn going to be there? Like, who's going to be there? And it was Uncle George. And I was like, aw. That's sweet. And you could tell she was like...
Oh, thank God someone's here. Yeah. Because no one else is going to ask anything. I know. It would have felt so bad for her. She's really... This is where she needs Greer back. She does. Yeah. Greer would have been there. Greer would have been there. Um, where was, um... Ford? Ford! Right? That's what I was wondering. Oh!
I was like, hello, you were in the movie before. Don't you want to see yourself on screen? Come on, BFF. I know. She's terrible. I thought you were there for her. Apparently not. She's like, you don't go to church anymore. We can't be friends. Ooh. You're public school, girl. Rotten.
But yeah, oh, we did have like a bombshell though with Brenna. She said that she wants to go to Berkeley for film school for the summer. Right. And eventually go to school in the Bay Area and move with George. Yeah. I think that the Bay Area would be a great place for her. I think it would be great for her. I think if this was real life, that would be a fantastic idea. I think for the show, it's a horrible idea. Right.
Yeah, I don't think it will happen. I think, well, because what, is she a senior or a junior right now? I feel like she's a junior. I feel like she's a junior, too. So we've still got one more year. Right. And who knows? That could be like six seasons, so. Right. And she always was saying like, oh, I don't want to go to college. I don't want to go to college. Yeah.
Now it kind of sounds like she wants to go to film school, which is good. Yeah, it sounds like she wants to go to a film program. Program, yeah. And then not actually do the whole college thing. Just like half college where you take a program. I think just like a summer program. Right, just like a program. But something. That would be good for her though, like a summer program at Berkeley. Yeah. But also those are really expensive. They are. April's going to pay for it. Yeah, I guess.
So, April suggested that she would pay for charting. Right. So, that's got to be a lot of money because private school, it's not like just $50,000. No. Because private school tuition, her tuition is at least like $30,000 to $50,000. Right. Exactly. Hmm. So, it has to be like a lot. At least a couple hundred. I'm thinking like $800,000 or more. It's got to be.
Yeah, for April to think she can just be like, like it's no big deal. Like, I'm just going to throw money at you. Yeah, like let me pay for your private school. It's okay. I think it's at least a couple million. Lucky April. Lucky her. Let's get into some predictions. And now, your After Buzz TV. Woo!
Oh, goodness. I think that in the season finale, or the series, or the whatever. Mid-season. Mid-season finale, whatever they're calling it now. I think that Dominic is going to tell April that he loves her, and that's going to be our cliffhanger, and I'm going to cry.
I think he's going to kiss her. Yeah. And I think her and George are going to get in a huge fight. I hope they do. Yeah. He's been lying. Right. But I feel like Bruna is going to take George's side. Really? Mm-hmm. Ugh. Sides. I know. That's annoying.
Yeah, and I kind of hope that something happens with George and Sarah. Although, no, I don't. No. Because he's been lying. He's been lying. And didn't he ask if his little girlfriend could come? Yeah, and stay for just the night, which is kind of disrespectful. They should get in a fight that night. That's so, you know, I didn't even think about that. That's so disrespectful for him to be like, hey, is it okay if Mae stays here? No, we kind of had a thing. Hey, can my new girlfriend stay with my ex-girlfriend? Yeah, that's not awkward at all. Awkward. Yeah, no, that wouldn't happen. Gross. Gross.
Um, I, I feel like April is going to offer to pay for Brenna's thing. I'm going to say Sarah says no. Mm-hmm. It's too far. Oh, I hope she lets her go. She'll be gone for like three weeks. Summer programs are a great experience. True. I made my little brother go to one. Ha ha.
I was like, you're going. And he was like, no. And I was like, yes. You're like his mom. I know. Like, go pack your bags. Go. Go in Pepperdine. That's where I sent him away for the summer. She just wanted to get rid of him. No, I wanted him closer to me. Oh, that's true. Well, guys, make sure you tweet us and let us know what your theories are. What do you think is going to happen? Your predictions? Yes.
