Shownotes Transcript

In the spring of 1885, a railway worker came into Montreal feeling ill. By September, the city was known as the centre of a smallpox epidemic. Efforts to limit the spread of the disease were met with anger and, eventually, a deadly riot. Thousands died in what would become the last major smallpox epidemic in a North American city in history.
