I recently had to go to a photographer to have passport photos taken. It was actually a nice experience, because in these times of digitalisation, virtualisation and artificial intelligence, it seems as if computers and machines are taking over everything mundane and making people increasingly superfluous. Anyway, I got dressed up and then took various positions and poses during the photo shoot, with and without smiling, etc. I'm sure you can imagine how that works. Even my face was powdered. A few days later, I received a whole selection of pictures from which I had to choose one for the final edit. I realised that no matter which one I chose and how different they were, it was always just me. Somehow there was something exhilarating and insightful about that: no matter how much I present myself differently than I might naturally be - I remain me. And you too: you remain you. With everything beautiful and edgy.
