The tip of the ski, called the rocker, is cambered to make it easier to penetrate the snow and to improve the ski's steering behaviour. This camber also helps the ski to glide better over uneven terrain and makes it easier to turn and manoeuvre in different snow conditions. It's hard to believe that all this is possible thanks to this cambered tip. In such cases, I always ask myself: how did this come about? I imagine that people first tried to glide on the snow on slats or boards and because they kept getting stuck in the snow, they tried out the curvature to prevent them from getting stuck - there were hardly any prepared pistes back then. And finally, more and more experiments were carried out and today we have a high-tech product that is constantly being developed further. It all started with trial and error - and I encourage you to do the same today if you have an idea. Who knows what will come of it...
