That’s not writing, it’s only typing。

English summary: What does bungakusha mean? Writer? Author? ‘Literary author’? Literary scholar? Researcher? In Hideo Levy's view, the word denotes something beyond any existing English term. Just as Truman Capote's diss of Jack Kerouac (‘That's not writing, it's ony typing’) can't be easily translated into Japanese, to fully understand the concept of bungakusha requires a deep engagement with the Japanese language, if not its literary milieu.
