I know that the title of this podcast is long. And I wanted to make it 20 times longer, because we covered so much great stuff in this episode. This week, I’m talking to Kelsey Miller. She’s a senior writer at Refinery 29, creator of The Anti-Diet Project, and author of the new book, Big Girl: How I Gave Up Dieting And Got A Life.
Kelsey and I talk about what it’s truly like inside the head of someone with disordered eating, what led her to start the Anti-Diet Project, what “giving yourself permission to eat” actually means and what it doesn’t, the traumatic childhood experience that shaped the way she saw her body, how she hopes speaking out about this experience might open the door for others, and why she doesn’t exactly believe in the idea of closure.
