LNG may not be the silver bullet to shipping’s decarbonization dilemma, but there plenty of owners betting billions of dollars that it offers a safe bet on the right pathway to a greener future. So the emergence of a new report this week challenging the received wisdom that LNG provides a 20% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and might actually more environmentally damaging than conventional fuel options, is a serious development that requires attention.
