The heroes returned to the Crooked House to find it crooked once more and to investigate the changes within the house.
When the heroes returned, the house was crooked again, and it was warm, inviting, and beautiful, unlike the horrific house they had seen before.
The heroes were confronted by the shade of William Van Brunt, the new Crooked Man, who leered down at them from the second floor balcony.
William Van Brunt offered to treat the heroes as honored guests and invited them to join him in serving the Crooked Queen.
Each hero faced different challenges: Jorgrim had to confront his own head buried in the soil, Lethika had to make a sacrifice, Jericho had to dance, and Brigsy had to destroy a symbolic ship of his dreams.
The final confrontation in the cellar involved the heroes battling against the crooked tree, which had absorbed Farron and William Van Brunt. The tree was intent on returning the Crooked Queen to her home realm.
Jorgrim's spirit appeared, lamenting his failure, and then dissipated. Farron was absorbed by the tree, her face embedded in the bark, symbolizing her transformation into a vessel for the Crooked Queen.
