I'm super excited for our next topic and guest. This is one of the biggest issues of the 2024 election, and it is growing in popularity and importance. Joining us now is Vani Hari, the food babe, author and activist who is leading a movement to make America healthy again with a very important event coming up soon in Michigan. Vani, welcome to the program. Please introduce yourself and tell our audience all about it.

Hi, thank you so much for having me, Charlie. My name is Vani Hari. I'm the founder of Food Babe. I'm an author and activist, and I've been fighting for safe food for now what feels like most of my life. And it all started when I hit rock bottom and I took out the additives and all of the harmful preservatives and the synthetic chemicals from my diet. And I started to realize a level of health that I never thought was possible.

And I want that for all of my fellow Americans. And so I started to share this information on my blog, Food Babe. And it was quite incredible because I realized there's a community of people out there that not only care about their own health, they care enough to actually share this information in a very viral fashion. And as a result, was able to get major money

multi-billion dollar food corporations to change their policies and remove harmful chemicals from their food. Places like Kraft removing artificial food dyes in the mac and cheese. Subway removing harmful chemicals that are chemicals that we would find in yoga mats and shoe rubber. Getting the beer companies to release what's actually in beer and understanding what the ingredients are behind a beer label. For so long, we didn't know what was in a can of Bud Light or Miller Coors. And now...

our fight is with Kellogg's. Kellogg's in 2015,

said that they were going to remove artificial food dyes in their products. They got a lot of fanfare. They were celebrated all over the mainstream media for this announcement. And instead, they have not done that. They said they would do this change by 2018. And there's nobody holding this company accountable. Instead, they still serve their mainstay cereal Froot Loops with artificial food dyes.

They sell 91 million boxes of Fruit Loops every single day here in America. Little children, you know, it's up to...

up to like almost a fifth of little children having maybe one bowl of this cereal a week. It's insane the amount of Froot Loops that they're selling, but also not only do they continue to use the artificial dyes here in the United States, they're not using the artificial dyes in other countries like Canada, Australia, all of Europe, India. So they're poisoning their own American citizens with these chemicals that are linked to health issues.

Back in 2010, there

There was a Southampton study that came out that was linking artificial dyes to hyperactivity in children. And that's when the European Union said, you know what? No longer are we going to allow food manufacturers to use this just unregulated. So we're going to enact a warning label, a warning label that states may cause adverse effects on activity and attention in children. So anytime a food manufacturer used an artificial food dye in Europe, they're

They needed to put this warning label. Well, you know what Kellogg's did and a lot of other food manufacturers for that matter did? They took out the artificial dyes and added things like carrot juice and blueberry juice and watermelon juice and paprika instead of using the artificial dyes so they would avoid the warning label. But instead of reformulating their products here in America for their own American citizens, they're an iconic American company, by the way, and they're

They didn't. They continue to poison us. Our regulatory agencies are asleep at the wheel. The FDA allows over 10,000 chemicals in our food supply here in the United States, and there's only 400 approved for use in Europe because you have to submit safety data in Europe before a food chemical is approved for use. Here in the United States, it's the wild, wild west. The food

companies themselves are submitting their own safety data and rubber stamping this across the board. And that's why we have these rising rates of chronic disease and why I believe a lot of this disease is related to the food additives in our diet. Because again, of my own personal situation and all of the impacts that I've seen across the boards when people are changing their diet and removing these dyes, we are going to Kellogg's.

On October 15th, in one of the most massive grassroots rally anyone's ever seen to hold American food companies accountable for this unethical and hypocritical behavior. This is time that Kellogg's serves Americans the same safer versions they sell in other countries. I love this.

And we see this in our health outcomes. Again, I'm hardly an expert on this, but from what I understand, we have the fattest country in the Western industrialized world. We have the sickest country. We are actively poisoning our children with the food that we are consuming.

So tell us more about I want to go deeper into the topic, but I want to get to the action item. Tell us more about when and where and what. I'm trying to get President Trump there. I'm trying to get Bobby Kennedy there for Make America Healthy Again, because this is in the battleground state of Michigan. Are you going to Battle Creek? Are you going straight to the doorstep? What is going on? What are you doing?

So at 10:30 a.m., we are meeting at a place called Friendship Park. It's about a half a mile walk from the Kellogg's headquarters front door. We're going to be meeting there for a massive rally. We're going to have several

several different doctors and health leaders speaking to the people. It's going to be live streamed, so you're going to be able to watch this from your home. But we want you to come out to Michigan and be part of history. Be with us. Bring your family. Bring your kids. Bring the people that you love and care about that need to know about our American food supply and how poisoned it's become and what we can do to change it. We're going to have solutions there. And then after those speeches, we're going to march.

as a team, all of us, to Kellogg's headquarters and demand they let us in for a meeting. Now, they won't invite us all in for a meeting. I'm hoping that at least I'll get invited. Hopefully, Callie Means and Jason Karp will be invited as well because they are stakeholders in this fight with me.

I think that it's really important that we sit down with the CEO of Kellogg's. We talk about plans of what they can do to remove these chemicals immediately. This has been going on far too long. It's 2024. It's been almost a decade since they announced that they would make this change. And they have lied to us. They received all the costs. I mean, is it just money? Is it that they don't care about our kids and they just want to try to squeeze the penny further? I mean, this is...

This is inexcusable behavior from corporate titans. Am I wrong? It is absolutely inexcusable. It's immoral that they know that their product is causing harm to children, but don't change it. And they already have the formulations. We're not asking them to reinvent the wheel. This is something they're doing for profit. Profit for two reasons. Number one, a petroleum based dye made from coal tar, such as yellow five, yellow six, red 40 is not going to break down on the shelf as fast.

Also, the endocrine disrupting chemical that they're adding to the bags in America, but not in other countries, called BHT, is another preservative that they're using. So they can keep the product longer on shelf in America, and so they make more money. The second reason how they make more money is they make it a little bit brighter with the artificial food dyes. And so when you see a product, and I have them right here if you want to see them. So this is the American version.

This is the Canadian version. You see that the American version is a little bit brighter. They found in focus groups that children will eat more of this product. So not only are they contributing to health issues such as hyperactivity, they're contributing to the obesity epidemic that we're seeing in our young children.

I mean, look, parents have got to step up. And I want to talk about the Bobby Kennedy Make America Healthy Again agenda, how it ties to President Trump, because I wish food was not political. But so much of this goes through our regulatory agencies, goes through what the federal government can do and should do, because this is a public health crisis. We have a chronic disease epidemic in this country that is affecting our kids tremendously.

Half of our kids by the age of 15 are chronically obese or overweight. Only 3% of the kids in Japan are chronically obese or overweight. It's not as if other countries are poisoning their kids. We're the leader in poisoning our children. We lead the world in such an issue. It's got to end. And I know President Trump has a plan for that. Vani, I'd love to pick your brain on that.

Yes, we're demanding that Kellogg's drop artificial food dyes and the endocrine disrupting chemical called BHT that they use here in the American cereals, but not in other countries.

We're going to be marching at their headquarters on October 15th, Tuesday at 1030 a.m. at Friendship Park. There's going to be a massive grassroots rally. And then we are going to march and knock on the door of Kellogg's headquarters. I'm going to be asking the public that day to call the headquarters and demand that we sit down with people in charge to make these changes possible. Can we talk about the politics of food? Like all things where there's trillions of dollars,

Well,

let me just tell you, I have been involved in politics for a long time and I got out of the game for a really long time because I was so jaded. You know, I was a delegate for President Obama for two years in a row in 2008 and 2012. You know, I quit my job and campaigned for him. I was registered Democrat. You know, this is something that I

I was really excited about because he had talked about how he wanted to label genetically engineered ingredients and how he wanted to get this done. And I just remember, you know, all of the blowback that

the food and chemical industry gave to him and to Michelle Obama when they entered the office. And they changed the narrative from the focus on food and chemicals to let's be healthier by moving more, right? Let's have more exercise. But that is not going to solve the root issue in terms of how we're being poisoned by these chemicals. And so I got super jaded with politics and

And it wasn't until recently where I was invited to be part of Senator Ron Johnson's Senate roundtable that I felt like I had my voice back, that I actually have a chance

actually to get this message out in a political arena. And, you know, that room was filled with so many people that are passionate about saving humanity, helping fix the chronic disease issue and looking at the root cause of all the corruption, all of the different organizations and regulatory agencies that are being funded by these chemical and food and pharma companies. And

And we were able to, for four hours during that session, unfiltered, nobody trying to filter our voice. We talked about it in a nonpartisan fashion about how to save humanity. And it was so beautiful. It was doctors from John Hopkins, from...

Harvard, from Stanford, sitting in the room talking about their experience on how no one's addressing the root cause of disease, which is metabolic disease, which is what we're eating, all the different factors, how we live our lifestyles, how all those things can impact kind of the trajectory of disease here in America. And, you know, this just goes back to, again, another situation where it was really difficult

Just so sad that was happening during the COVID years where nobody was talking about the fact that the people who were dying, the people who were really being affected by the virus were the people that were metabolically sick. They know there was not one single voice on the national stage saying,

that the mainstream media allowed to talk about the real issue of like getting your immune system up to snuff by eating real fruits and vegetables and eating real food and how to actually safeguard our bodies so that we get out of that situation where we could be affected by some virus, right? Nobody was looking at the root cause. There was only one solution presented to us. And things have to change if we're going to change the way

our health is in this country. And now with RFK's leadership and the fact that

His track record speaks for itself. You know, people really want to pigeonhole me. They're like, you know, Vani, do you, you know, do you think this is actually going to happen? Do you think that, you know, this is just all political talk? Is this just a politicalization of the topic? I really don't think so. When you look at RFK's record in terms of how he went head to head with Monsanto to literally hold them accountable in a way where basically

Billions of dollars were awarded to plaintiffs for glyphosate causing non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and being involved in the chemical fight in that arena. Of course, this guy is going to, you know, fight for your- This is so important. Again, this is not political. This is about health. And unfortunately, some of this goes through government instrumentation.

You were an Obama activist. And now walk us through this journey. It's wonderful to hear.

Yeah, absolutely. So, you know, again, I have kind of bowed out of politics for a long time lately because, again, with the COVID years, with the pandemic,

With my activism that I had during the Obama years, you know, I used my delegate status at the Democratic National Convention to actually protest in front of the Secretary of Agriculture. So that's kind of how I entered the national stage, if you will. I held up a sign. I wrote it with my lipstick saying, label GMOs. And at the time, we didn't know whether there was a product that was bioengineered or not on the grocery store shelves. No one knew whether they were eating GMOs or not. And I felt like that was...

A lot of lack of transparency, considering Europe and other countries had given their citizens the opportunity to bow out of this kind of chemical intensive agriculture. And now we know that this chemical intensive agriculture is causing cancer and autoimmune disorders and all sorts of chronic diseases here in America. And

It's really up to us to get the chemicals out of our food supply. What I've realized is that nobody's holding these food companies and chemical companies accountable. And someone like myself, someone like others out there that are nonprofit organizations like the Environmental Working Group, the NRDC, Center of Science and Public Interest, and others are

are out there doing this advocacy work, but they are literally railroaded in Congress. You know, they're trying to have these conversations with Democrats and Republicans, and they're really having a hard time getting a lot of this stuff

to be regulated because the food companies come in and they say, you know what, we're going to fund the competitor to your boss's campaign. And so you're no longer going to have a job. And so it's like the food and chemical corporations are literally funding electors to

To to to make sure that we stay in the system and then they fund the research that's conducted at the NIH. They're funding the CDC, the FDA. And so not none of this information can get out. The truth can't get out about the chemicals in our food. And that's a big issue. And that's why.

I think the only way forward from this standpoint, we cannot continue on the path that we've been continuing on. We have to have someone to come in and disrupt the situation. And even this week, I saw something very interesting. There was a policies for the people campaign.

portal put about. And I think it was, you know, R.K. introduced it under Team Trump. I'm not really sure what the political piece of it was, but I was just thumbing through there. And I couldn't believe that one of the top issues in this that was submitted by the American people for the government to address was to ban artificial food dyes, that this would make one of the top searches, you know, in the first, you know, had over 13 million votes.

This is something the American people want. Cancer is not Democrat or Republican. This is something we have to come together to fix. Why? In my Senate roundtable at the end of my testimony, I invited both candidates to come to Battle Creek, Michigan, to hold these American food companies accountable for this, because it's not just Kellogg's doing this. Yes, they are doing it and they're targeting little children. And I think that's why we have to address them first.

But McDonald's is doing it. McDonald's has three ingredients that they use in the UK in their French fries, and salt is optional. Then you have 11 ingredients here in the United States. One of those ingredients is an ingredient that you would find in Silly Putty. It's called dimethylpolysiloxane. And when you dig down deep and you look in the FDA papers, it can be preserved with formaldehyde, a neurotoxin, like FFPA.

Why are we frying our fries here in America with this substance and not in other countries? The whole entire framework of chemical regulation has to be looked at and we have to dismantle it. I want to play a tape from Senator Ron Johnson's testimony, who's amazing from Wisconsin. This is your testimony here that's gone viral. Let's play cut 119, please.

In the US there's 11 ingredients. In the UK there's 3 and salt is optional. An ingredient called dimethylpolysiloxane is an ingredient preserved with formaldehyde, a neurotoxin. This is Skittles. Notice the long list of ingredient differences. 10 artificial dyes in the US version and titanium dioxide. This ingredient is banned in Europe because it can cause DNA damage.

Artificial dyes are made from petroleum and products containing these dyes require a warning label in Europe. And they have been linked to cancer and disruptions in the immune system. Gatorade. In the US, they use red 40 and caramel color. In Germany, they don't. They use carrot and sweet potatoes to color their Gatorade. This is Doritos. The US version has three different artificial dyes and MSG.

The UK version does not. OK, so, Vani, like just for an audience member, this shouldn't be hard. We are the wealthiest country ever. We seemingly are able to solve simple problems, or at least we used to be. What needs to get done for this to change? Is it as simple as corporate actors that just want to make money that are trying to

make an easy buck and increase addiction via our food that keep it this way? Is that the explanation or is there something more sinister going on here? Well, we have to, again, we have to look at the regulations in terms of what chemicals are allowed for use here in the United States. And we need to actually...

force food manufacturers to prove that chemical is safe before they use it here in the United States. They can't just, you know, create a chemical in a lab or a new food substance and, you know, submit some paperwork. They know the FDA doesn't have the manpower or the know-how to review all of this data, and it just gets rubber stamped as, and it gets marked as generally regarded as safe. There was a chemical recently,

Actually, an ingredient that entered the American food supply and a smoothie company was using it. And it was like called Tara flour. And it not only sickened people, it made people have like a like emergency gallbladder surgery to have their gallbladder removed.

This ingredient was a new ingredient. It didn't have any safety data around it. And the FDA took two years to even address it. So think about all the people that were harmed in that time frame. We have other situations. And this one is probably the most agrarious. It is absolutely insane. Rehabilitation.

Red number three is an ingredient that's allowed in lipstick, right? I'm sorry, not allowed in lipstick, not allowed in chemicals, but you can eat it. The maraschino cherry industry lobbied Congress back when they banned this chemical because it causes cancer. They lobbied them to keep it in. And because the alcohol interest was so heavy, they

They were able to keep it completely fine to use in food so that the maraschino cherries stayed bright, bright red and all those alcoholic drinks that were popular at the time.

And so this can be changed through regulatory adjustments. And let me just be as clear as I can say, how hard is it to simply ban some of these chemicals? We're done. We're not going to put up with this anymore. Yeah, California is doing it right now. They just banned red number three. So in California, you can't use that, along with potassium bromate and a few other chemicals. California just said,

submitted unanimous, it was voted unanimous, all Democrats, all Republicans to ban artificial food dyes in schools in California. Okay. So this is something again, that is bipartisan. This is something that every single American should listen to and find out about what they're eating. They need to start reading their ingredient list and understand the food that they're eating. I

were getting messages from the highest of A-list celebrities about these issues, like Eva Mendez. She's saying, you know, how can I get involved? You know, how can I support this? This is something that's crazy. I can't believe our own American companies are doing this. I'm going to personally boycott Kellogg's. And she made a post about this. Then Khloe Kardashian this morning posts our campaign as well and says, I can't

I can't believe it. I'm having my friends in Canada come in to the United States and bring me Froot Loops and they taste the same, Bonnie. Why are these companies doing this? And I would have never known about any of this had I not seen this on your page. And so it's like the highest levels, I think, of awareness are starting to take place about how poisoned our food system is. And it's up to us to keep spreading the word

You know, we're not going to wait. I'm not going to wait for the government to do something. No, it has to be activist-driven, and it has to be bottom-up. But there needs to be a top-down perspective, too. And so, Vani, if I could, and I'm not sure even how you're going to answer, how are you thinking about this election? Someone who was literally at the DNC for Obama, someone who was jaded by politics, how are you now viewing this contest? Well, I'm really being very...

cautious in that I think it's so important to work with both sides of the aisle when it comes to these issues. And so, and that's why at the end of my Senate round table, I invited both political, both presidential candidates. I

I've been reaching out to the Harris-Waltz campaign. I've been going on podcasts, on media interviews. I've been talking about this. I have not heard back from them. And it is really sad, actually, because I've been on other podcasts of people that have been kind of on the

kind of on that spectrum, on the left spectrum for most of their life, thinking that, you know, that was the party of environmental regulation about chemicals, getting that out of our environment. And now because RFK is, has teamed up with Trump, you know, this, this situation is a lot different in that, you know,

RFK is allowing us to have a national stage on these issues that we've never had before. I don't think I would have been invited to Senator Ron Johnson's Senate roundtable without some executive leadership at that level saying it's okay to talk about these issues.

I'm just thinking about over the last month, how many people I have reached with this message as a result of that executive leadership. And that's really what we need when we talk about removing these chemicals from the American food system. We need executive leadership. We need Harris and Waltz to talk about these issues, too. And they're not. Where are they? Where are all the Democratic-leaning politicians?

mainstream media out there too. Like none of them will have me on because Kellogg's and General Mills and McDonald's and all of these companies, I name names in the Senate round table, they pay for their advertisers, you know, and, and they will not have me on it. I've been, I've been this through this before, you know, I've been an activist for a long time.

That's what they do. Yeah.

Yes, which I found out later through Freedom of Information Request Acts where the chemical corporations were paying, quote unquote, independent professors at these universities to literally show up every single time I was talked about. That's the model. Vani, I think you're an American here. I think you do great. Where are the Democrats? Good question. I know that you have a home here in the Charlie Kirk show, and I know that President Trump and Bobby Kennedy will make this a priority to the administration. Vani, thank you so much.

We are getting so many positive emails here of people that are voting early. Folks that are, I can't wait, going to the in-person early voting stations that are either voting by mail. Whatever way you want to vote, it's all good. But voting early is the best. Voting early is the most important thing to avoid lines. So you got to check it out right now. tpaction.com slash vote. That is tpaction.com slash vote.

Here's someone who has voted early. Carrie Lake has voted early. She has just banked her vote. She is running up against a not a good guy. This is a guy who cheated on his nine-month pregnant wife. Let me say it again. His nine-month pregnant wife, he cheated on her. Filed for divorce when she was nine months pregnant. Who does that? Files for divorce when your wife is nine months pregnant?

He is anti-American, open borders, a total radical, Ruben Gallego. Tons of George Soros money and Alexander Soros money is flooding the state to promote Ruben Gallego. Ruben Gallego means more drugs in your community, more crime in your community. The border will not be secure. Ruben Gallego's dream is a wide open border. Ruben Gallego has contempt for the United States of America.

Carrie Lake has voted early and she has banked her vote. Play cut 120. Hey, Arizona, it's me, Carrie Lake. And guess what? I'm heading out to vote right now. You know, we have election season here in Arizona. And so I'm going to go cast my vote at an early voting center. And I'm encouraging you to do the same. If you have a mail in ballot, go grab that ballot.

open it up, vote Republican all the way up and down that ticket, and then get it sent back in. Or if you'd like to vote in person, go to a voting center and vote there. We got to bank the vote and we got to chase the vote and make sure that we win this and save our country and save our beautiful Arizona. See you later.

You can track your vote too to make sure that the vote was received and counted all the way through. Carrie Lake had a debate last night. I was there actually doing spin for Carrie Lake afterwards in the spin room. Tons of media. My goodness, I walk into this room, it's like I just get slapped across the face. And I got to tell you, they can't stand Carrie Lake. I mean, the nastiness from the Arizona Press Corps. Wow. I mean, seeing it up close and personal, it's remarkable.

Play cut 113, please. Have Carrie Lake from her debate against the rat. Play cut 113.

impact for those border communities. It's absolutely horrifying. Hospitals having to close down, hospitals there that aren't being paid because people coming across illegally are getting services and they're not being paid for them. And Rubin's idea is to actually funnel billions of dollars into the NGOs that are actually taking part in transporting people further into our country, not just here in Arizona. Go to the airport. Take a red eye out of Phoenix Sky Harbor. It looks like a migrant encampment.

because so many people are moving from Phoenix Sky Harbor to all points, all 50 states. And Ruben Gallego has funded that. That's what he wants to do. Carrie Lake then gave a great answer on the abortion topic. Cut 112 is that 60% of people who have abortions say they would not have chosen to do so if they knew that there was financial or emotional help. It's a very, very important point here. Play Cut 112.

I just saw a statistic and it broke my heart. It said that 60% of women who have an abortion would have chosen not to have one if they knew there was financial help out there or emotional help.
