It seems like everyone is an Insta-Therapist these days. People are looking for diagnoses, taking personality tests, uncovering trauma, and deeply psychoanalyzing themselves… but to what end? Sure, life is really hard sometimes, and sure understanding why you are the way you are can make you feel a lot less alone, but that kind of self-awareness only helps when you decide to make a change for yourself. Self-discovery is important, but only if you let it fuel you to make better choices in the future. After all, you’re not the main character of the universe. Over-identifying with your past can’t make a better future.
