WHAT LEADERS DO: An analogy.
While we all enjoy the feeling of eating a good robust meal, we don’t all have to time prepare one.
If you consider the time, effort and expense of harvesting the meats or proteins, the veggies, the fruits, the grains necessary to complete your nutritional food pyramid for one meal, your mind would already be exhausted.
But you still must cut and slice and dice and season and cook or chill this harvest to create a “dish”.
Seriously, it is the reason fast food or restaurants stay in business. WHO HAS TIME FOR ALL THAT?!?
Someone must gather, prepare and deliver what keeps us alive if we are going to be productive in so many other areas of life.
A leader must be able to gather, harvest, process, prepare and deliver insight, information, education, expectation and more. If your team is busy “getting the real work done” you should be busy preparing the “meal of personal growth” for them.
Gather the data, harvest the best ideas, season then with synthesized understanding, marinate them in useful application and deliver them in delectable bite sized morsels to be devoured on the fly. Lead like a mental, emotional chef.
That is the role of a leader.
