Publisher's Summary: Becoming a Christian means being sick of your sin, longing for forgiveness and rescue from present evil and future hell, and affirming your commitment to the lordship of Christ to the point where you are willing to forsake everything. Ive said it before and Ill say it again: it isnt just holding up your hand or walking down an aisle and saying, I love Jesus. (John MacArthur)
MacArthur makes the case that the Christian life is full and rich - but not easy. It requires sacrifice, perseverance, and transformation in the ongoing process of becoming more like Christ. And it is absolutely worth the cost.
Members Reviews: Inspiring AudioBook by John MacArthur What a wonderful and inspiring book.As usual John MacArthur is a great teacher and preacher I love all of his books.
Another excellent book by John MacArthur! This book is an excellent explanation of the role of Christ as ruler in the believer's life and how that ties directly into sanctification. I especially appreciated the explanations about sin in a believer's life and how believers sin but want to stop and want to be different. Therefore someone who enjoys their sin and does not desire to change cannot be a believer. As always, John MacArthur supported each of his points with scripture and I thought made several great points I have not heard elsewhere.
Biblical Truth Straight and Clear If you could sum up The Truth About the Lordship of Christ in three words, what would they be? Jesus is Lord What was one of the most memorable moments of The Truth About the Lordship of Christ? I have been a christian for many years now and I know of my assurance of salvation through the complete redemptive work of our Lord on the cross, but the last part of MacArthur's book on "assurance of salvation" is very important for every believer, especially new believers. What does Maurice England bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book? This is a book that is not well suited to being read to you. No disrespect for Mr. England, he did a fine job. The book has many biblical references that should be followed up by having a hard copy in front of you to study from. I love how MacArthur structured this book and reading it for yourself, carefully, is best. With one's bible as reference. Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry? It made me sad that I am still far short of the Holiness of God, but happy to know that the Lord will finish the good work that He has started in me. Any additional comments? MacArthur has help me have a better understanding of the why of suffering and how it plays a necessary part in the life of a christian.
