With unemployment continuing to rise, Prime Minister Muscat's only solution is jobs with the Government. This is the most evident conclusion that emerges from the statistics published by the National Statistics Office on people working with gain.

The statistics show that over a period of one year, the number of people looking for work in our country grew by 541 people, that is an increase of 8%. This while almost 1,400, or 30%, of the new jobs are jobs with the Government. Until November 2013, there were 42,345 people working with the Government, compared to the 40,893 average in 2012, the last full year of the Nationalist Party in Government.

In a statement on behalf of Mario de Marco, the Deputy Leader of the PN for the Work of the Parliament and Spokesman of the Opposition for the Economy, Investment and Small Enterprises, Tonio Fenech, the Spokesman for the Finances, and Stephen Spiteri, the Spokesman for Work and the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the PN said that this is clear evidence that the economy of our country is not creating enough activity, as has already been made clear in other economic results such as those linked to import and export, industrial production and store sales. In the end, all this means less money in the pocket for Maltese and Gozitan families, which thus creates a vicious circle because it leads to a reduction in the commercial activity of our country.
