really good. Plugging hybrid range, gm says their evy supply chains, their focus and handle begins onic nine U. S, production state joined because later the show also tell why there is a really concerning and among gs, those arguing that we need to roll back long standing emissions regulations.
Good morning, good afternoon. Good evening. Where ever you are listening around the world, welcome to the news daily.
A trust source of the information for thursday, seventh of november. And I go through every E. V.
story. So you don't have to. That's what i'm here to do for you. And welcome to a new member of the patriot ganging my foregone David song. David, thank you so much for being a new producer of the podcast.
You add free with your own unique R S S feet finit any patri and dashboard copy placed to into a podcast APP. And you also get the the shows before everybody else. And if you want to fund the work that I do here, you know what to do.
If you kind enough, you have IT the kindness in your art to check out patriot at R O N or come flash EV news daily. Have a look, my pressure. This will always be free.
By the way, on me, they have had supported seat. Let's get into tesla news to begin with. Tesla has pretty early in the quarter, actually started throwing in those incentives to drive sales.
Now we hear about a not percent interest finance deal. The three and of the why this my canadian listeners, it's a recent promotion in the U. S.
Mire for canada. But you do need there's a massive caviar. You do need to purchase full self driving. Details on teas website indicate the financing options available for loans up to forty eight months and limited to new vehicle purchases by customers with good credit.
I don't know what that stories for that, but either way, the loans longer the one forty eight months come with a slightly higher interest rate, zero point nine nine percent. I mean, they they will offer loans up to ninety six months for for buying a new car. I'm not convinced that a great idea, you are some amazing use bargains in the U.
S. And canada as well. One, two years out, almost a new car, and let somebody else take the bacon on appreciation rather than get ninety six months s finance, agree, but the way.
Additionally, to access to the zero percent finance, customers must purchase the full self driving package for eleven thousand canadian, providing the features beyond standard auto pilot like city streets in the highway and automated line change. Eeta, however, that initially the U. S.
Promotion did require the purchase of fd, but that was changed in about two weeks, allowing customers to obtain the opposite interest rate without buying fd. And if the canadian demand follows a similar pattern, testimony drop the fd requirement in canada. Importantly, while the U.
S. Offers, uh, fifteen percent dow payment required, the canadian deal doesn't need a down payment. Very interesting.
Or this move on and huz is gna start producing its first electric SUV, the iconic numerical used be called the onic seven S V E N, but they are called a numerical nine to match the key E V nine. Because it's a very similar vehicle. Someone say it's the same vehicle, but it's it's not at, is georgia a facility?
Hund motor roup meta plant amErica G M A going to to start production next year, which I think we knew I was onna start production next year. What I thought was interesting is maybe production will kick off this year. However, we have the announcement made by housing unions, the oo on november fifth two days ago.
The plant will produce genesis and key models for distribution in north amErica as well. Very important to make the vehicles on north american soil in order to access that tax credit money, however, and that I have been throwing that in themselves to make the vehicles very affordable, all them. And that'll help the bottom line, of course.
So we knew the onic nine was going to be mass produced at that facility, which began Operations last month, making the onic five native necks on the side, the j thirty four hundred plug, very important if you want that, ali, everyone to be living in, adapt to hell for a while less, face IT hundred plants to reveal the onic nine design later this month in november. And I wondered whether they are going to production this year. So the announcement that the the volume production happens in twenty twenty five, which one of a surprise to anybody is clarity that IT won't be happening this year.
They going to focus on the honey five, but onic nine sometime next year. This get to see IT this month, right? The company is on track to achieve their first annual sales go over one hundred thousand in the U.
S. This year. I will expand their evy line up, starting with the iconic number nine to increase their market here. And the rational for U. S. Production is all about locally, the production of lining with the inflation reduction act subsidies of seven thousand five hundred dollars, making the vehicle on north american soil and also ensuring that the battery complies as well.
And by the time the onic nine comes into production, you would think that they take both of those boxes for the seven thousand five hundred dollars of the vehicle. Now you know, that year, which is the romanian bit of reno, although these days they've a lot of production actually to a oco. IT is even cheaper to make the vehicles in north africa.
And that you make the cheapest dv a thing, is officially the cheapest brand new electric vehicle in europe and the U. K. Now, the datcha spring they have, just like reno did with the zoe a long time ago, got castle mind back on this one, wrapped out the rare seats, put a mesh behind the front two seats, and called IT a work.
Then they have called IT the spring cargo. It's the least expensive electric van in the U. K.
It's Price at fourteen, nine, nine, five. But that does exclude vat at twenty percent. Of course. The vehicle target the last mile delivery services and qualified for the government two thousand five hundred pounds pluggin van ground businesses can least the van for hundred and nine hundred and forty nine pounds a month. Again, that's x vat, which is twenty percent.
But again, if you're via register, you want to hear those numbers only where the an initial deposit of eight hundred and ninety four pounds, ten thousand miles a year, the spring car goes based on the extreme edition of the passengers version features a single mother, sixty four horse power, twenty seven killer hour battery, thirty kilowatts dc fast charging. You will be setting any records with this, but one hundred and forty miles, a range of fast charge, they give twenty to eighty is forty five minutes, which could be a driver of Mandates, lunch break or a stop, or going back to load up some more parcel or something like that. I love, love, love, love this, because White do always have to think about a van being a big panel van, or a transit, or a high top or a long wheel base.
So much could be done in a small vehicle like a datcha without a recipe. Perhaps, perhaps you are heading out with a smaller set of tools, maybe all of the tools you need with that in the back of that time. Maybe you're broadband engineer or maybe you're installing something know for a company and and you can get around in a small event.
Why drive a bigger vehicle then you need to. If you're not Carrying big stocker long stock, maybe some specialist tools would fit. So what vehicle to load functions? So you can plug device in a two hundred and forty vote socket on IT as well, like to say, a flat load area in the back separated off from the front of cargo capacity of a thousand and eighty five litters in a three hundred and seven kilogram paye load.
And otherwise it's a that cheese spring. And so it's got a car play android also USB connectivity, reversing camera, cruel IT gots cruise control, electric windows. What do you want in your work? Van, I love this. You got to be some tax reasons as well why businesses would go for this, maybe just a plugging van grant, and of course, a vehicle that's fit for purpose.
I think if if i'm starting to think about twenty twenty five on this podcast, starting to not a lot, just kind of mulling over what will I be talking about next year where I want even news daily to go. Will even news daily be called E V. News daily twenty five? And know we were writing the patriot ars as well.
The levels, if you like, in the pricing. And I think we're going to double all of the pricing, all of the existing people going to be locked in. H I email to reply about h, somebody asking about pricing, which reminds me.
But twenty, twenty five, I think I might dedicate to being the year of use case because for far too long we've let the conversation be dominated by how far is that vehicle go like what the range of that vehicle and the conversation should be, how much range do you need? And the right, I need six miles a day because I take my kids to school and back again. And oh, and as long as you can.
Dc, fast charge. And i've been there with a reno zi, the only ac charges, by the way, i've done those motorway road trips charging at twenty two kilowatts. No five or six years ago i've been there.
I vote my stripes. And so as long as you can, dc fast, like thirty kilos, is not a lot, but you could do some decent mileage in this. And IT wouldn't be massively inconvenient.
I love you. I love you. I think twenty, twenty five were dedicated to be the year of use. Case where that sounds pretty dry and boring doesn't, but I find IT very exciting.
Now what about an electric bike from royal enfield? They've introduced their new EV equal the flying fly, the flying fly, see six, the first entering into the E. V. bike. The company has a history spending over a century initially developed for the flying flea royal efforts, dispatch riders and later adopted to urban commuting, with the growing interest in electric motorcycles for city travel, royal and filled want to attract those riders flying fully.
See six is a light weight aja motorcycle, part of their new electric sub brand, targeting urban riders and also those that want our experiences journey's behind the city as well. Along side to see six, royal enfield will introduce the second model nine, fully s six, which will be an electric scramble h features, improved suspension that will be after the c six on the market a few months. That's really interesting.
Now byd is expanding, and this one just blows my mind. B. Y. Idea has increased its workforce by more than two hundred thousand employees last quarter.
Between August and october, byd has been on a hiring spray to boost production. During the time, byd manufactured one point three million new energy vehicles, up for one hundred thousand. In the same period last year.
Uh, new energy vehicles are pure bs and plugging hybrids according to the chinese definition. Byd mate eight hundred thousand plug in hybrids in half a million battery electric vehicles in the period was also hiring two hundred thousand people. wow.
And its financial report for the third quarter, byd announce twenty four percent rise in Operating revenue to twenty eight point two five billion U. S. dollars. The first times ince twenty twenty two. The byd has surpassed tesla, that big rival for reported revenue neh since march twenty twenty two.
Byd knocked on the head the idea of making anything with a combustion and went pure combustion, I should say, ah and focus exclusively on plugging vehicles. However, despite the increase in revenue, byd net profit is lower than test. They just two hundred thousand extra people in the business. Byd, again, a company absolutely fascinates me in terms of the version integration and things like that. right? Stick around will come back to talk about this report coming at a lemon and the french newspaper, which I found yesterday, all about the push to loosen long starting emissions regulations concern actually and the vox bag in multivu has had its electric bits upgraded and the luxuriating stick around back in mode.

Welcome back to the podcast. If you hear in advert, maybe listened to the ad supported free feed, you know, i'm going to say long time listeners, you can avoid those if you want to some to the patron in a club and get in the gang. P T R O N.
Up comes flash EV news daily. You get your ad free fit, which saves you even more time. And i'm here ultimately to save you time to tell you everything that you need to know about the electric vehicle world.
I'd like to say fifty, twenty minutes, but a few half how I show us on them about recently sorry about that. Volvo on is released more information about its new multi van e hybrid for motion plug in hybrid introduced in september I W A show in germany. We know that it's coming, but now we got some details targeting the family market, the adventure market.
They want to go a little bit further off the beat and track the multi vans, enormously popular in the second IT is a nation of a nation vehicle, is now in silent europe at seventy thousand eos, about sixty thousand pounds. Over here. The multivu e hybrid IT uses volts balkans M Q B evo platform and shares its new power trying with those that i've been talking about recently.
So it's the V W golf e hybrid, with its eighty eight miles of all electric range, begins to be an enormously compelling vehicle when you get to a hundred miles of all liv range for those that want to go full livy and IT wouldn't suit me, then that is a great solution. But the multi van, a vehicle that maybe once or twice a year you might want to put IT pop up on the channel tunnel and head across europe. Now of course you can do that in V W I D bus.
It's absolutely find a no electric van, but maybe your family just want to know, get to the ski resort or whatever, or just had across the country, or because in this country you can't go very far in england, whales, scotland, northern ireland, whatever, really, without coming across A D, C, fast charge. We are a small island. Let's face IT.
You want to go further. Maybe you want the back up of the petro engine at, well, now the electric bits, I think, what do you really? Well, one point five later, T.
S. I, fossil in the engine and a larger twenty killer hour battery, which is all combined with a six speed transmission. So hundred and forty one horse power.
Now, with the electric only range of fifty nine miles, obvious lessen the gulf, but a much bigger slab of Carter punch through the air, fifty nine miles, ninety five kilometers, doubled the previous range. The electric motor allows the multi van to go to eighty miles. And our on electronic power alone, that's one hundred and twenty nine kilometers para charging capabilities also improved that put dc fast charging into IT.
So fifty killer dc fast charging peak on the twenty kilo hour battery, up from the just three point six killer A C socket before. And so you can stop for half an hour and you've got another almost real world fifty miles of range depending on what speeds you're doing. And again, use case, i'm going to come back to use case a lot, I think, because if you're in most situations, apart from my listeners in amErica who you know you can chunk through one hundred and thousand miles in a dios without blinking my aussie listeners, you can do some serious, serious damage to them, know the adamec, you can really rack up some miles if you want to.
For many europeans, obviously, we can go across the tent and goes far as you won. But you don't, I mean, you can, but generally you don't. Day in, day out, that's gona rather be a summer holiday or a vacation road trip of one two thousand miles eeta. Well, actually, day to day, we, when we own the motor home, IT was a diesel van.
IT was an a veco, uh, conversion is a panel found that been converted by the previous, I don't know, we bought that maybe well, fifteen years ago before was into east, right? So and before my wife and I had kids and we actually loved owning that mode home, and we went around. Now I can see the eye of Whites.
If I go down to the beach from my house here in pool and doors, right then we took IT over to the art of White. Most around there, like not very far from home. We took IT around the southeast and can we took the moto home around the obviously the southwest devil and cowal and stuff.
You generally don't go more than ten to any miles campsite to camp site, seeing a new place meet and new people. You can do that all on electric power in this multi event that so cool. Love IT.
right? Let's move on. The french government pushes for looser emission standards according to a new report that I found. Now this is, again, you know, in french, run through google translate.
But I came across my feed, a french newspaper, lemon, yesterday sign the french government is going to start advocating for flexibility in the europeans european commissions C O, two emissions regulations. Uh, the economy minister in france reveal plans to request that brushes postpone penalties for companies fAiling to comply with these long standing regulations from two thousand to twenty five. Now as you know, the car industry has just recently been lobbying very hard.
These emissions regulations have been coming for a very, very long time, and they've known they're been coming. But now in november, some of the calm gone. What you're joking. No one told us we can't possibly make them lobby ist content, but the EV markets outlook has changed since the regulations were first introduced.
What whose foul is that? Those that selling fees, I have little sympathy for those that go oh, but the car industry isn't selling enough electric vehicles, says the car industry itself. Well, you could have done something about that, couldn't you? After period is strong growth, evy sales.
I have not hit the targets, which they're themselves declared. And many in the evy market could be facing in the european market significant fines into the billions of euros like they're known. This is coming.
It's a very serious issue. Francis now been persuaded by those lobbyists to argue for leniency as germany, italy and various eastern european countries are now raising concerns as well about these sanctions. Automotive industry has many chAllenges, are ahead of them.
As the move to E V happens, thousands of jobs need to be looked at. Some old jobs went exist, but many new ones will. Profitability will chain for a lot.
Many of these companies comes like santis, which is positive. C fea opa ox a bmw probably will comply actually with these standards. They call the corporate average fuel economy.
C A F A caffe, the cafe standard of which needs a fifteen percent decrease in zero two emissions. Percussive h vehicle sold from twenty twenty one. This is based on, four years ago, car makers not meeting the requirement will in care fines, which could be significant.
Some manufacturer of chosen, i've mentioned this recently in the last few days, higher margin, larger vehicles because that's part of their profit maxims ation strategy. They need to make as much money as possible. So they're been making big, big ecc vic because it's also big combusting stuff as well because IT makes them more money because they didn't want to make smaller, cheaper, more affordably basks that relax of you, you and I can afford.
And now they're going all these notes, small G P, V S, on the market. I actually disgusted, says the people that didn't actually bring them to the market anyway. Reno is coming because like the reno four rn o five, i've talked about danger recently.
We've talked about the lead motty zero three, the after spring, the centro n ec three, the little monday inter, the outline for the kasper all coming. But many haven't got small cars coming in the pipeline. Many like the the smaller I D to the Cooper, reveal that too far away in terms of when they'll be in customers hands.
And so now by the looks of IT, france could be joining that rising chorus within europe arguing for a relaxed ation of these uh, emission standards uh the combustion engine might live to fight. Another day. And that's certainly, I think, very concerning, not because i'm ideologically what is to electric vehicles. EV is going to be here, whether I like IT or not.
I'll still be here, make an E, V news daily, whether anyone else likes IT or not, but just because of the reasons why we put these emissions regulations in place for public health, for global warming, thought the world that we leave behind, not for the short term quarterly profits of shareholders of car companies. Thank that's not the priority that we've all got as a culture, as a community, as a society. Or is IT maybe is yours, maybe it's something on mine.
Now let's move on. Rising electric vehicle demand in the U. K. And the E, U, is being underestimated by many that still write headlines about the slump, P, N, E V sales. Recent research indicates a strong and grown demand for these are about IT almost every day. Now, many countries, the year, the united kingdom in european union, need to chAllenge these misconceptions about the sector.
This analysis coming in today from cbi economics, commissioned by the energy and climate intelligence unit, points out that economic advantages of the car industry significantly improve if they move to EV production. Opposing calls to delay these environmental targets, the U. K.
Automotive industry generates forty six billion pounds for the U. K. Economy and supports more than five hundred and fifty two thousand full time equivalent jobs direct.
And in the supply chain, if E, V adoption increases optimates, this contribution could rise by thirty five percent, adding sixteen billion pounds to the U. K. Economy and creating an additional hundred and sixty seven thousand jobs, according this independent report.
On the other hand, if we failed to transition to EV, there would be a seventy three percent drop in the economic activity, leading to a loss of thirty four billion pounds, the U. K. Economy and four hundred thousand jobs lost, although manufacturers have time to meet the eu.
Twenty twenty five emissions targets for cars and vans. Many have thrown their hands in the as IT can't be done and resorted to some lobbying. Conversely, proactive companies in the arena, as IT were, have been investing in a vase.
Some will hit those and others, if you look outside of europe to china again with big subsidies and prosing comes to that in from the chinese government could be well placed to take advantage. Now what's take a quick bright when we come back, you know, the canoe, the company that the electrical vector start up making vands, things don't look very good there in gm, so that we've nailed their supply chain. We'll find out what there is talking about.
And next after the break, will will never look at the U. K. And why they are rising, E, V, dead and the driving around.
Thanks for listings to the podcast and thanks for taking through the ads if you're listening to the ad free fee. Now here's an update to a story I told you about earlier in the week. In october, electric vehicle registrations made up over twenty percent of new car sales here in the U.
K, twenty four percent up from the same months last october was a stelle a year. And so was september, by the way, and so was August, by the way. And we're on a month to month to month role of evas being more purebred, bets being more than twenty percent of new car sales here in the U.
K. The rise of code despite a six percent drop in the overall car market. So you see these headlines are the eva lum and coming.
What are you talking about? We are having we're in a rich vine, a form for E V sales right now in the U. K.
Petrol and diesel, either having the slump dies five percent in the U. K, according to the society of motor manufacturers, traders. S, M, M, T.
That's the car body in the U. K. That subscribed to. And they speak on the industry's behalf. New car registrations were down in october. However, EV sales grew from twenty four thousand this time last year, twenty nine thousand in the months of october. You know this much already from my previous coverage.
I told you this earlier in the week, but I was just adding context, anyone that miss the podcast to get this up to spade. The trend of lowering Prices vote has become evident in recent days, particularly after notable discounts over the last few weeks and months, some electric models and twelve percent cheaper than they were this time last year. Dealers are working to resolve a backlog of vehicle orders that people want electric vehicles in this country.
This Mandate imposes fines. This f Mandate of fifteen thousand pounds for each electric car that fails to meet the thresh hold, told about that a lot in the U. K.
So the car makers are focusing on selling evs here in an employment, is also trained as commercial director and said, and I quote, electric vehicles are taking a bigger share of the market thanks to heavy discounting and quote, and the decrease in petrol and diesel sales is likely due to manufacturers having to hit these evy targets and some would say restricting demand down. Seizure, famous, fully, fully charged show, of course, and running, that is with Robert lowell en. He is also the CEO of a new industry body called electric hicks UK.
He mentioned that despite views of weak electric vehicle market out there in the wide of public, the U. K. Is anticipated to have one in five new car soldiers, battery electric pure bev in twenty twenty four.
The U. K. Is well position to lead europe in twenty twenty five. Really interesting. Well, a couple of bits news, especially general motors is making substantial investments in E, V, supply chain in more materials.
They finished of his design to address the financial, technical and g political chAllenges that are rise from the move to evs. Gms current strategy is reminiscent of how Henry ford did IT back in the day where he sought to control all the various resources to enhance efficiency. Today, G, M, point out that their targeting key materials like lithium, cobalt, nickel, graphite, essential to E, V, battery production, many these minerals, a source to deliver from china.
But the U. S. Are you going to lessen its dependence on foreign supplies through these incentives? What sets gm apart, they say, is their dedication to a robust supply chain in north amErica by investing in mining and processing companies. Recently, G M formed a partnership with the canadian firm lithium americas with six hundred and twenty five million dollars to invest the packers past project in the vada.
I told you about that few times on the podcast already a securing thirty eight percent of liyang yum produced there for the next twenty years and also investing in graphite production as well for a stable supply of graphite of a battery I nodes. Interesting what they're doing. They say the first one to do IT.
I would point out that wealth tesler has made some more recent investments in those companies. Raw materials have been turning up potassa for ages, going back a really long way. Giga factory, no, father, there should be ten, twelve years.
I don't know. I need to look back at my specific notes about how long tesla has experience in vertically integrating alongside the battery part of panels, of course, just truck loads of raw materials turning up to make batteries out of. It's not a new thing for tesla.
They are actually quite good at IT. And I ouldn't want gm to say, hey, we're the first ones to do this. We're going to be vertically integrated our supply chain.
We have worked out how to do this, but it's very good news that they are doing IT. Less good news slightly is that cano, the electric vehicle start up, has put their employees. So the alcohol city facility on fellow as IT seeks more funding, it's going to last a minimum of twelve weeks.
Not great. Lots of people have been talking up canoe. I see recently in the U. K. We've been doing some deals over here and i've sort of wanted to shout from the rooftops. So yeah sure you want to a do that deal with canoe because it's verbally but still around in a way that you know nichola is warbling but still around. But so sad news for the employees that in a rest report of stakeholders can revealed serious financial difficulties if you've been watching IT and I would say best summed up as I don't believe the high, but we wish them well. Well, thank you as always to everyone for listening to the podcast, for the patron feed and supporting the show that we do.
And I did the advert feet because, hi, I don't going to bit a money from the commercials in there as well but if you d like to checking out the patron and page, you are more than welcome to if you see the kind is in your heart, to have a little look at that police stop at premium apartments, get a daily mention portion of the village in since and ati ald since and ati east and volvo cars are sensi east national car charging on the U. S. Milland and the low heart charging why Derek Riley from neither o dot ie. The naive o eva review and youtube channel an october cropped global public charging made simple with one up and one map, have a good in cinema. And remember, there's no such thing as a self charging eye bride.
