Now we'll start with that news of general motors achieving a big milestone of selling over three hundred thousand all electric vehicles in the united states, I think twenty sixteen. But i've hit that big targets now. I was three hundred thousand, bringing the total to three hundred and seventy thousand in north amErica despite chAllenges like recent production delays last year, gm has emerged as the second largest evy manufacturer in the united states, trAiling only tesla.
Of course, back in the day, the several boat began produced into thousand sixteen and remarked the start of gms electric vehicle sales success, at least of the modern era, if that makes sense. Tesla reached the same sales figures in the U. S.
Are quite more quickly, by the way, achieving IT about five years, largely because the popularity of cars like the model s. In a recent episode of inside automotive, mike stand in the C, E, O of the nada, the south american dealers association, and john devine, president of the pennsylvania automotive ation, I got together to discuss V, W, choice to sell vehicles directly to consume us through the scouter motors brand. This decision poses serious concerns for existing dealerships and disrupts the traditional franchise system. The N, A, D, A and state associations are preparing to respond strongly mid legal action as well.
Now mr. Stands and highlight to the joint efforts of the nat and local deal groups to oppose violence sarkin initiative, viewing IT as a violation of the relationship. He pointed out the economic importance of dealership, saying, and I quote, there are over six hundred V W dealers in this country, over fifty thousand people in this country work for out V, W and port dealers.
And quote, underscoring the essential role that those delicious play in local communities and in the sector. Or, and mister devin criticised volts vagon lack of communication, suggesting that silence leads to the direct sales decision. He warned that the strategy will damage trust, the deal and network saying, and I quote, trust is important in any relationship and cope.
So picking a fight already, we we knew this was coming when the scout motors brand launched their two vehicles, and they gonna sell them directly. Some people said you can't do that because of the dealer laws are so strong in the U. S.
Are the saying, well, scouts totally separate from volvo and even scout was saying, well, you know, we're not going to dip into the vw parts in. We're not really vote wagon. They aren't buy them, of course, saying, you know, we're not going to just this isn't just, you know an ID four with A A truck body on IT for IT is a scout, not a world bank.
So they were laying the ground work already. Now, mr. Standing added that buying a vehicle is more complicated than purchasing typical items saying, and I quote, buying a car is not like buying a tube of tooth based on amazon.
You don't trade in your tooth based. You don't finance your tooth paced. There are a lot of different aspects to this and is the franchise system is best position to take care of this. And that's been proven time, time again and quote. And yes, that's true.
But I would hate for anybody to be inside that franchise dealer system and not be able to get outside of IT because I hear from so many of my listeners that say I don't want to deal with that and negotiation and getting the run around. And you sit in that chair, i'm going to go into the back office and talks in my boss and see i'll fight for you to try and get this great finance deal. A lot of people want to buy their car these days and different demographics.
Obvious ly take a play part in this, like how they buy a mobile phone or how they buy their toothpaste, sorry to say. And that is not to deal with anybody. That's not to say that nobody wants to go to a day look as obvious ly they do. But I would hate for them to becoming from the perspective of like the only way to do IT is to do this, which of course I understand that I have from my listeners so often and the comments or contactless ly directly that they like the direct way of doing IT. The likes of tesla and revision and pollstar have moved forward with.
And so you know, this is an opportunity to drive different cars, to change the way we buy cars and for dealers to look at what they do and in a way, almost up their game or make sure that they are fit for the twenty first century and all the services they provide, all those kind of things. So just be a match fit. IT is an opportunity, I think, if you ask me, not a you know not an extinction level event for dealerships.
But still, you won't be surprised to hear that. Yes, it's already getting pretty nasty between the nda and walks of organ with the scouter brand. M, hey, let talk about volvo for second, a great october three percent increase, october sixty one thousand and six hundred and eighty six vehicles being sold compared the same month last year.
The growth driven by increased in demand for you have beat me to the punch line, the fully electric vehicles in europe, the company mainly oil by china's jelly, said the sales in europe is its largest market, well by twenty one percent. Conversely, dabit in the U. S.
China data bit as well, about ten percent on a global scale, sales of fully electric employed in hybrid vehicles increasing forty percent for the volvo brand, making up now forty eight percent of their entire business for the month of october. IT substitutes the previous entry levels, a versions three hundred and sixty two horsepower motor and ninety five kilo hour battery with a little bit less hundred and twenty two horse power, and quite a smaller battery, seventy six thousand hour battery, as a result, range goes down from one hundred and sixty three miles to three hundred and eighty two miles. Still good, by the way. For the event, the range goes down from four, three, seven to three, six, one.
Again, still very good. For seven a half ground of the performance also slightly lesson not to sixty is not point six second slow. But now i'm not boat on public routes, honestly, not sixty.
I don't really care about the maximum charging capacity has decreased as well. But again, I was hundred and seventy kilowatts, which is just so far you are ripping and it's going down to hundred and twenty five kilo. What's on the smaller battery? Now let's talk about how new rules coming into the united states could hurt quite all the car makers. Proposed regulations to ban anything chinese in the cars. Which connected car technology here we're talking about software are we're talking about any bits of the hardware.
So where was that chip mate, china note that's gonna and IT would effectively bar a brand like polestar, say, from even Operating in the U. S. market.
There's so many how can you guarantee the software in that vehicle at some point hasn't gone through the chinese office of the team that work on so and so bit and you've got a rewrite all of that code from somebody who sits a desk in amErica rather than a remote work at that sits a desk in china. They say, IT just I can't be done. The new rules would disallow the use of chinese soft web in vehicle starting with a twenty twenty seven model year.
And anything that chinese hardware from the twenty thirty model year move is part of the U. S. Government's protectionist measures.
The updated clean vehicle tax credit in the longer supports tvs built in china or using chinese components. Additionally, U. S. Commercial departments been advising mexico against offering incentives to the chinese car makers looking to set up nearby as some of the back door into the us. And so if you not aware of the way that in the europe we do, the number place license blades on the left hand side, you can often have A A letter for the country of origin, if they would be great let. And so this would be a german E, V, two that you would think now a lot of the road signs in the background. All I can tell is I know it's not in great britain because they don't look like british road signs.
And to left and drive castle, we would think this would be the E V two driving around germany. It's been expected to launch in twenty twenty six for a while now, but with an expected Price of around twenty five thousand euro. IT may even be less than that because in in over years and fifteen months time in twenty twenty six in that car launch, there's gonna a lot more competition at the bottom end of the market.
Now the vehicle aims to compete with the reno five with any compact touch backs. The E V two will be built on the E G M P architecture as you using the other models such as the E V three, E V six, E V nine. We know that there is a four hundred revolts, a version of the architecture called egm p for some of the cheap er cars as well, not the old singing or dancing eight hundred vote system.
While the E V two is currently camfed shed, we see enough of IT. Actually, it's not completely covered in the boxy phone stuff like that. We do get to see that this is well in itself, quite boxy. The vehicle looks like A T S soul, actually, with the front lights resembling those on the evy nine. The car will feature the tiger girl that we see on the keys and what they call the opposites united design philosophy, which is all very into a car design.
Recent footage from hello TV, a new cheap office close to look at the E V two, showing key as design features like the split headlight set up at the telly ride and the vehicle has a very distinct boxy shape like an evy nine h has been put on a hot wash if you like. It's so the shape extends to the rear with boxy profile, although details are limited, care has confirmed the evy two will be aimed at the european market. This is specifically the a small urban cup.
Maybe for some Younger demographics or people who just want some more affordable, personal, reliable transport, you don't need a vehicle that can do you know, four hundred miles in A O so we made to vacation to keep costs down. The E. V two, like to say, starting at twenty five thousand years old, which is just on the thirty thousand dollars position, IT against running five oxo course, of course, electric mini Cooper and being more premium than those cars that are significantly cheap at the lead motty zero three, the datchet spring.
So well, so well, that's like when I find arrives, really looking forward to that. Now let's talk about the onic five, which continues to sell really well, even though, like many people know, that there's a new twenty twenty five model year coming out that is built in the U. S.
That's gonna have native nacks on the side that j thirty four hundred connective. But still the current model year is selling really well, that the pricing is very good. Home day dealers are going to getting this car out on the roads.
They're very good as well at home day for matching the inflation reduction act uh or rather the federal tax credit, uh, seven thousand and five hundred dollars, which the cars are eligible for. But they will chip that in. So they are very, very good at doing this. October was the best month ever for the humble yoni five, and that's a great vehicle.
Now how about it's even before the release of the twenty twenty five model here, another brilliant month, four thousand, four hundred and ninety eight, like we call up four and half thousand should we? The highest number on record second highly overalls since the model name, but the highest ever october and the second highest month and the onic six, well, that face more chAllenges. And eight hundred and thirty seven was sold in october, thirty two percent decrease the same month last year.
Looking forward, the new model year unit five, well, we think IT launch soon with native necks on the side. So you can use those test of superb charges from ali. January isn't negatively and obviously any third party charges that which are all going to have at some point, dual head zon cc s one and j thirty four hundred.
And then if you want to use the car and C C S one, you're gonna need an adapt. Or so we all of my us listers are gonna living in adapt to hell one way or the other for the next five, seven years. And the new model also introduced the rugged get overrode X R T trim made in George a qualifying for the evi tax credits to begin with thirty seven fifty because it's made in the right place.
But some of the battery stuff needs tiding up. I'm told by people who know these things that initially, again, maybe hand, they will chip in the other thirty seven fifty, but then they will get there with a battery that's fully eligible, which is great news. Hey, handprint log.
I mentioned the start of the show hand pro log. Is a IT sleep a success hit, by the way. Now the honda ilog e is made by general notice.
It's essentially a chevy blazer, but is significantly different. This is not just badge engineering or just renny ing. The vehicle honer have done enough to this to make IT a longer. And he seemed to have worked really well because the sales figures have really taken me by surprise. The prolog is surpassed the blazer by a really good amount.
Prolog sold four thousand one hundred and thirty in october, the month before in september three thousand and seven hundred ninety five and then in the summer, in August five thousand four hundred one. Now general losers on two monthly sales data, ua model level. But they've sold eight thousand blazes in the third quarter of the year, which is only just over half if you add all of the prolog months together.
So that's fantastic. Well, on on up, you did add your stamp to this. The software is different.
Maybe you preferred that maybe honer buyers have just been starved of a really station evy and they diving into that yal handle wners who want to go v just didn't have anything in the brand before. Now that's great news. Congratulations to humble for doing that.

The X C sixty pg in hybrid hundred of and if you are eligible for a thousand dollar discount on vehicles like the lyrics, the blazer, the equal x the chevy, uh, the vv, the silver if gmc hammer I else o era and vovo ex forty as IT is now, then I might be worth having a look at that. Now, a little rally happening very soon. The evy rally camera, which is welsh for wales.
So the whales evy rally is organized in partnership with the welsh governments. That to happen later in november. The event will feature some teams driving electric vehicles of a distance of five hundred miles all around wales to assess the country charging infrastructure following its introduction in cardiff in july.
Uh, the rally returns later in this month to show case the growth of evs in wales. EV rally coming is going to be on november thirteen th, and participants will be in carded for a two day track and five hundred miles designed to evaluate the performance of modern electric vehicles and the public charging infrastructure. Key supporters include maxus s who provide electric vans for the logistical needs, and the AA, the recovery service, who will be on hand with their yellow vans to rescue any cars that run to have charged or aren't able to make IT. Now obvious.
Obviously, things like this are good because they raise awareness of, hey, we're stopping every year fifty miles to take a photo, get a you little linked in update or a social media update of hi there, some new charges here, they'll be going all around while as broken beacons and exec, but I, I, I only worry I am not on a downer on E Y rally guy but my only worry by like the A A is supporting us in case and either cars and make IT it's five hundred miles over two days now there's not a lot charging in wales. But this more while is a very small country, and you can get around IT pretty easily, like the last half decent trip that I did in the polestar. What was that? I went to see the boys of effects up in skipton, which is new lead, and up a bit from down here on the south coast in pool, which is just like with three hundred miles, like five.
I was in something to get there. And I get their live stream show. If, if, if you are interested in the electricians industry, you should go and follow effects, E, F, I, X, X. And then we get the live stream that was pretty as so much fun, really inspirational tional as well, that they've created an amazing thing there. And I drive ve home.
And so IT was a fair amount of driving in a day, but that would be like six hundred miles you and a bit and a couple of stops and a bit of food and and that was a day of day's work for me. And so I didn't take me two days and I didn't need max to provide logistics vehicles to support the rally and to be on a hand to recover me in case the E. V.

I'll cover IT on the podcast and i'm sure that i'm just terrified of cynical media, which will you know you know how IT it'll be taken wrong if they do take IT wrong, right? Finally, we can talk a little bit about the used EV market here in the U. K.
In october last month, battery electric vehicles actually went up in valley. And for someone who's sold a couple of evs lately over the last eighteen months, boy boy have I taken a hit on selling those cars. My wife is very tolerant of my passion for election vehicles, but does sting a little bit when what would we lost thirteen grand on the corner over that twelve months, when they had really ridiculous appreciation of evs and supply and demand, just without killed a me.
Difficult to tell him about that when, you know, worth at the minute, hang to IT, but I couldn't hang to the corner for many IT was dead old, or by the way. So a lot of my dad last year, and he loved, absolutely loved, that kona ultimate sixty four killer out battery, brilliant. And he he had to stop driving because of his his cancer drugs.
And I thought, be brilliant and and i'll drive IT and I will be attribute to him and it's wonderful. And then when I lost him not long off, because he was pagani cancer, which the men of the certain, it's not a good diagnoses. I couldn't drive that car, I don't mind telling you, because you friend on the podcast and stuff and and that was a great car and I just couldn't my stage of grief.
I couldn't drive that vehicle, but without thinking about him and IT wasn't hon him in any kind of way, which I thought I would be, i'd get in that car and dead side in this journey, held the wheel. And he loved this car. I was, I was too rule.
And so I had, I had to sell the car. So if C H onder ing doesn't like the corner, I love the corner was amazing. I person couldn't drive that.
I probably still couldn't drive IT now because I just, I thought I could. I thought be, what an amazing thing. I'll have dad's car.
I bought IT a fair market value. I to sell IT won't right? I couldn't. I couldn't. Do you go to upset driving IT all the time? So I ve still got his personal regio, by the way, that for me is a much nice way to only him.
I still got his personal registration and I haven't put IT on the poll staff function ough, but it's it's in retention and I maybe I willing, but that is a nice of thing for me than the actual physical car. I didn't see IT come in. I didn't see IT come in anyway.
I have this two minute direction. I'm sorry, i'll stop now. So yeah, evs were up in october and and that's a good thing.
The overall market, by the way, the overall used evy market was down one point one percent. So the EV is to hold the value and go up a little bit. IT was a modest fifty pounds for the average E V Price.
That's still great considering the twenty four months that we've had for sixty percent drop in value. Darn mars in the direction of valuations of cap hbi, highlighting the sustained rise and elegant vehicle sales in the trade market in the september was the second best month for sale, just behind a record in july. Bev values can vary widely in Price segments.
Evs between five thousand pounds and ten thousand ounds increased by the zero point seven percent, which was more than other more expensive segments. And finally, let's about the the eight hundred and nine the eaa on nine electric pickup truck or youth as it'll be in australia now down under it's gonna be an L, D, V. So you'll have an L, D, V badge on IT the e term nine.
Over here we will have a maxus badge. Now, again, we had the the same truck, which in australia was the L V E T sixty, which is railway drive and wasn't very efficient and not very good. But the e terror nine does IT like the real deal, and it's going to be an early twenty twenty five in australia.
We'll call the maxus ea on nine. And IT is going to have a single motive version A A dual motivation, three hundred and twenty five kilowatts of power. It's gonna have a good performance, one hundred and two killer what hour lithium and Foster ate battery a range of one hundred and thirty kilometers and it's going to have vehicle to load.
It'll charge one hundred and fifteen kilowatts. Peaks are not the fastest, but that's okay and you can even get six point six kilowatts out of IT on vehicle to load, which is really A A good decent among having got the euro n cap standards on this maxus say will be over the five star standard that fantastic. And it's it's a big vehicle as well.
It's unit like a three point three meter, whereas I think I have got start in front of me. I double check those. But and that comes to australia early twenty twenty five.
A really good news. There looks like a half decent truck was done more than half an hour, most because of my rambling about my sly personal life, so i'll stop there. Thank you very much for listing.
