In this episode of the CEU Press Podcast Series, host Andrea Talabér (CEU Press/CEU Review of Books) sat down with biographer and historian Michael O’Sullivan to discuss his latest book with CEU Press, The Poet & Baroness: W.H. Auden and Stella Musulin, a Friendship) (CEU Press, 2023). In his book, Michael explores the warm relationship between W.H. Auden, the celebrated British-American poet (1907–1973), and his fellow expatriate, the Welsh-Austrian journalist, translator and writer Stella Musulin (1915–1996). The friendship blossomed when Auden resided in the small town of Kirchstetten, close to Vienna, from 1958 until Auden’s death in 1973. The book is based on the unpublished letters of Auden to Musulin and her private journals.

In the episode Michael introduces us to Stella Musulin, we talk about how Auden ended up in a small village near Vienna and about Michael’s personal relationship with Stella.
