If you failed aware that you could know, have a couple more lessons and book again for late in the month for something, but that's just not feasible these days because of stupid backlogged and stuff. So but yeah, we started basically the initiative around my birthday in february, had to do theory testing stuff like a month. And then i've been having like driving lessons every week since then. Then happily passed last friday, first time sales relieved. And now on the call, hunt, I guess so you're actually .

We'll look forward to that. I O S, eighteen point to beta one is here, and that includes the next wave of all of the apple intelligence stuff. So just the highlights first and will dive in image playground jin mogi ChatGPT in integration, some new writing tools updates the visual intelligence teacher for iphone sixteen, the image warned, and more regions for english to australia, canada, new zealand, south africa and the united kingdom.

The big stuff is obviously the image generation stuff. Image playground, I think, is interesting. So this is the thing where there's a dedicated image playground APP.

And you can go in there and you can choose a person, choose a suggested style, choose animation or illustration for the actual look of the picture, then kind of just type in what you want and generates tes an image in that style. Well, you haven't tried this because you don't have a compatible iphone and you don't run macos betas. But in my I mean, we should profess this by saying it's been out for eighteen hours roughly. But in my first impressions, I mean, it's cool. And the images you can generate our fun, but the the practical implications of IT beyond just being kind of something fun you can play with and used with your friends, there's not much to IT, and I think that's kind of the goal.

Yeah I mean, that's what IT is right? The face with messenger and stuff as I integration when you can do in my generation. And has anyone use that for anything practical? I don't think so.

It's just, you know you have a chat and maybe you just your board, whatever you want to a fun in in may be represent you talking about, want to basically do a character of one of your friends. Well, here you can do that. Image playgrounds is really sent around taking someone's like profile picture and editing in a bit, right? Because it's IT really pushes you to select a person to buy you.

You can just do like themes or just type in text of like any object that would generate something. But the U. S.

Kind of set up for you to like use your face or use someone else you someone else you know from your contacts like profile image and then to kind of in pula ted, and at least in this version, in this first situation, you can only do like one person. So you have to choose like one face to be the kind of focus. And that will do IT from like shoulders up IT doesn't go for that full body humans from what we ve seen.

And if you got like a group, people in any other do not one person, but basic. You can make like little characters, little jokes about as someone you know, someone you know or you can I guess you can import any photo from your photo libraries. You can find library and do and stuff to.

And there doesn't seem to be too many guidance around like what you can generate. They they have like some basic filtering. You can, if you ask me about sensitive material, just deny to do IT. But it's not like IT stops you from making a vote of a president, for instance, that you can up to that tion. IT won't know that is like a famous place with manipulated .

the biggest limitation. And I guess this has been the case since they announced at a wwdc. Like you said, is that only one person can be in the picture like IT would be ideal or fun or cool to be able to say, create a picture of me and Benjamin e.

Mail, talking into a microphone together. And that's not an option. You have to create two separate images with both of us or each of us.

I don't know if that's a compute limitation because all of this, I think, is being done on device. There's no server component to image playground or any of the image generation stuff in apple intelligence. So i'm curious to see how this evolves over time. And crag fieri did an interview with join astern n at the wall street journal this week and was a really good interview. Help put the link on the shown notes.

But one of the things he said about image playground and made clear that it's not meant to generate photo realistic images, right? It's not going to do what ChatGPT can do or what are the dolly can do, any of the other image generation tools. And I think in the past, we speculated that obviously, that was coming down the road for apple intelligence.

But with how cartoonish, how clearly AI generated the images and image playground are like playing with them and seeing them. Now I kind of wonder if that's not the case. Like I don't know if apple is ever going to take this beyond into photo realistic images .

obviously that they've intentionally done IT at the beginning as let's do stuff is intentionally avoiding photo realism between. And you not like you can pick a realistic making them turn the office, you can do animation illustration. The only way to make photo realism is violate the ChatGPT integration, which is not part of image playgrounds.

You have to do IT through like the right and compose where you can make images using the ChatGPT stuff um but apple's personal imagination does not attempt to do photo ism at all. Not that I don't think is IT would be possible because I don't think is that hard. This says are late.

If you ever serve a farm, you can run a back, a model that can generate photos, these open source ones you can make your own. I'm sure apple could do. They've clearly for this first version but like we're not onna dive into that. They they've made some statements about not warning to disrupt the security and on esty of a photo that's been taken right um aside from that, the my clean up stuff.

you can even the clean up stuff. In the interview with great federation, he said there was a lot of debate internally about whether they should do that, whether it's okay to say remove a water bottle from a picture because that water bottle was in the picture, was part of the scene, that was part of the environment. And there was debate about whether cleaning up should be able to do that or whether clean up, I guess, should even exist. And it's clearly they followed the demand and from what users want.

what users of the feature end up doing, clean up. I think, yes, they will probably in time be demand for photo realist image generation for, you know, if you make, if you write a blow pose is nice to be to have art work of the right ignoring the that you're gna take people business or business if you are making documents or website or anything. Stock imagery is a market that exists today.

I don't think it's too far removed to have like a computer makes the image for you. It's just like from maxus four two thousand three but taken to a new extreme. So um I think in time they are probably get there one another other but at least for now they are playing IT safe and just doing the illustrated stuff and there's and this image playgrounds and the all the all the apple imagination happens on device.

There's no server component at all. So they can't you need much bigger b fia computation to make photo realistic images. So if they did want to do that, they have to host on the service maybe using public class computer, right?

If there only do not on device, you're never going to get away from this kind of like cartoony through through the illustration kind of effects. But that's how is today. And I think do I do I see any real like long term can see we use from playgrounds not really kind of falls into the and of group features where people might do IT occasionally and is a bit fun.

And it's of an impressive, am I right when you do want to twice but does have long term long ji, are you people to to do IT? Probably not. And there's plenty of other imaging generation tools that exist out there, including months that will do even Better animation styles or art styles.

Three day photo realistic. If people want to generate images, that problem up to using those like, I don't think, is anything to treat different image playground from any other companies. Apple did IT. I think it's fine. And you know, you might have a group chat one day and want funny, mister, throw in there and there you go.

I encourage everyone to look at the chapter art right now, because I used damage playground to generate a picture of male driving a car. So that's that's my example picture for a much playground this week. I think I did a pretty good job of making, of representing what you look like.

i'm not a private guy, but I try not have too many phones out the world. I mean, take many picture of myself anyway so it's not like so like i'm seeing an incredibly library images, but I don't think IT looks. I mean, IT makes me look a bit kd, right? But yeah, that miles away from from decent shops, missing all the gray and your hair, it's really there. And I would argue about like the nose and stuff but like you can it's not like a generic person, right? This got here is at least has resembLance and have since the mothers that have even more resembles, like Michael potok was one of right, just stuff he did run and IT really look like him as a well is very close.

The other image generation thing too is the gene mogi and that this is something I think were both an agreement of. This is going to be popular. This is going to be the apple intelligence feature when I launches because it's integrated jacklin to the keyboard everywhere you're typing.

And what I didn't really realize is so you go to the M O G search and you start typing something. And if there's no a mog for what you're looking for, it's right there. You just tap a button and had generate a mogi on makes IT.

I didn't realize how deeply integrated that would be. yes. So you go and you type type shift's kiss and there's no chef cheeko's just generated with a single tap.

And and it's feeling in need that people want because people always compare about they want on a mogi for this or no mogi for that. And we every time there's no s up that has no more this huge demand for, like what's the new images I can send the people. And this is a natural extension of that, where you search for a oj as people do all the time, all day on.

And if IT doing, if if not exist, is one more bun will start making IT for you, like it's gonna hugely popular for that person. People are going to send to their friends how how to get. Well, I had the new iphone and I could generate on my phone and just, and you can incorporate like, photos and people's faces into them, so you can relate, personalize human emotion, emotions as well.

So the image playgrounds really pushes on the use, use a picture of yourself. But you can do in the geno gi generator, too. 嗯， do you like if you look on nine five mak youtube change jack features he makes like an A O featuring his face phone.

Forever, right, right? I wish I for this doesn't exist, like to add your keyboard IT will show me the recent IT also put me like the stickers library get to them and then people will send them naturally as they go. And if you're typing them in a message, they can be typed in line, just like Normal amazes.

You can have text, but is not like a separate thing that to be sent, you can to be directly online. So party apps concurrently to do that too. If they update to support the necessary A P S, unlikely.

I don't think many people to do that. Support many is IT is possible that instagram could let you like post comments that include M O G, for instance. But even as I meaty alone, I think would be pretty pula.

Um can you use jet mogi for cat backs? S, yeah. I O T, yeah.

really. Well, that's pretty good. They thought of everything, and I really is really well. Integrate IT works. I can. You not? You don't have an apple intelligence phone, but I can still send you a gin moga and you can save IT on your device and use IT, which is really cool .

and the inline rendering a work on any I O C team device. You know, it's not even like when r city point two comes that you got wait for all your friends update to point to, you can just to really start sending them and they will show correctly as of R S T point zero. Oh, you and you made a pumpkin spice je mogin sending to me.

I can even up on a fourteen pro. I can then long press on the text message, I can see em oji details, and I will show geos that included in that message, including the phrase use to make IT. And it's one bun, and I ve now got the public in bus emogene or my phone, and I can send that back to send you to anybody I want to so um there's like a variable that have thought about which is nice um and you don't even need you don't even need apple and cape phone to send the G M O G. Need A G M O G. You just need A I device to create.

I joked that I was going to charge people five dollars to make their customer mogi if they don't have an apple intelligence phone evening IT to them.

That's my business model, at least right now. The macos like gem oj s on ipad O S, but it's not on the macs by um I think basically just like the U I isn't dark finished for the mog keyboard selection because it's not like you know like inserting A O on the mac is is a bit crusty and our fashioned right like is not super modern. So I think they might be still working on that now come out sometime next year.

And we have image wind, which I haven't used yet, but it's primarily or only in the notes APP. And you can have a rough sketch, then you circle IT and it'll generate an image, playground image, basically of that sketch that's more polished than what you drew. Or if you don't even want to draw the sketch, you can just circle and create image, and it'll use context from your surrounding text and notes to generate something.

And you can type in text. It's like a mini playground like integrated into the canvas oh by the way, the that if you're using image one, you get a sketch style in terms of the the created. But in image playground, there's no sketch style as an option.

You only have animation administration when they first showed this at wwdc. There were three style options, animation, illustration and sketch. But right now, for some reason, sketches included in the image playground context, uh, I presume that will come out later. But right now, if you want to do sketch image generation, you have to go through the image, one ui for .

iphone sixteen, iphone sixteen pro, there is the visual intelligence features. So this is where you long press on the camera control. Take a picture of something around to you. For some example, I took a picture of an ipod that was lying on my desk, and I sentence a ChatGPT, and IT told me this was either an ipod nano, fifth generation or six generation. Some details about IT. You can also send IT to google, or you can use apples on image recognition technology to tell you more about what's in the image to like a picture of a dog breed, for example.

yeah. So apples like visual lookup staff is integrated into the vision intelligence thing. But I don't think it's like any Better or any worse, right?

You spread tech from when you take a picture and there is just also now includes that vision, intel's I if take a picture of a post state would like scan the text. You can translate the text. You can get the event details out and add your kind if you want.

But the main draw of the visionary intelligence saying is the basic shortcut button to a google N, U, I, where you can do like syntax. Google or IT would just send that photos ChatGPT to interpret for you, and you can fall up with additional commentary. And this is quite literally just like apple incorporating the Price services.

And yes, part the system features, there's nothing no brought to the table here apart from that is, I guess, build in and you can access IT quickly just by holding down the car control bun. But there is no real reason why I have to have to be iphone six exclusive. They could have just made IT a software feature for any phone, right? I don't think even depends on any of the other A I models.

Apple like there's no generative stuff going on at all, just sending out to web services in in every case. So they made IT an iphone sixteen closer feature. But IT doesn't have to be, and does IT need like this, is this is a clear example of, like apple's own A I capabilities, do not right now have world knowledge, and they can't answer open ended questions or do moti model interpretation of photos.

So what do they do? Well, they just have a nice off concert button. Then IT goes to google and opening I directly and seems like apple gets good financial terms, stuff what google thinks, getting return for google and in the iphone advertising, but may struck the deal. And IT works so customers will use IT.

Um and apart from the fact that IT has a google logo in an A I OpenAI logo, it's basic like is built in right like you have to approve IT with the privacy and if you're allow to happen, but otherwise is basically just works in the fullness of time. I across the next many years, I don't see why apple could not build out their own capabilities for this, and they won't need to rely on their parties. But for a version one release where is not like super integrate to day life is just this kind of like mode you can go into and find out information about a photo in front of you. I think it's fine to depend on the party provider if I think give .

the same result. IT is funny seeing so many people share the results from visual intelligence and being like, wow, apple really knocked to at the park with this this is great and it's like, well, again, it's basically just ChatGPT. You've been able to do this for a long time just using the ChatGPT APP yeah down .

the ChatGPT APP down of the google ends up there's your same functionality, but there's huge power in IT being by default you just hold a button side the phone and areas.

Speaking of ChatGPT immigration, this adds IT to series. So if you ask serious question and IT wants to pass IT on to ChatGPT, apples specifically keeps saying, for world knowledge information, you can do so. The question we had when apple announced this, a wwdc was whether you'd have to approve each and every time for a question or a query to be sent to ChatGPT.

And that s the case by default. But you can go into settings and disabled that prompt, which makes the experience dramatically Better. Other than that is basically just like you're talking to ChatGPT, just in the native syria interface. It's again the huge power of natively integrating something into something people already use.

I remember you can do IT for free, so, but yes, I will be free. You can log in your page GPT account to get higher usage limits. But the day day experience, I think people can use completely for free and not really worried about that. So it's kind of incredible like the deal they got here based you don't need to make an account right, you don't like sign up, you just yeah click accept and then boom, you're using chat P T through the iphone for free. So a pretty nice sweet deal.

The apple manager, fernando, the uh and IT works exactly as I hoping IT to where IT easy just seems like any request or most request that would previously say he is what I found on the web and just give you like five games results now I would T A off between stead you get a bit more meaningful answer. All of the, you know check the seri U I in the syria APP on the series system is designed to be like one show actions, right? Like you ask a question that is your result.

You can maybe fell up a little bit, but it's not designed to be an open into chat bar. And the same is true here. But if you have a true via question, the theory just would throw hands up before.

But I don't never know what you're on about now. You get a decent short actually get a death answer because IT can show off, chat G P instead and speak that result to you. And it's almost .

as if apple kind of actively discourages you from signing into H H GPT account. Because in the settings up where you do that, IT says that if you aren't signed into a ChatGPT account, all of your communication is is private and encysted blab h. But if you signed in with a ChatGPT account, you behold into the OpenAI terms and conditions, which are vastly different in apple zone terms and conditions. And the interface thing, too, is interesting because IT almost IT reminds me of the writing tools thing where which i've talked about a lot, where apple is crammed so much functionality into what's basically a pop up menu. And IT makes me want makes me want a separate like a separate writing tools, upper, something more than just like that pop up interface.

IT probably be like a full Green thing, rather than like, yeah, a half light panel.

And the same thing applies to interacting with a ChatGPT with theory. And then also, even if you sign into a ChatGPT account and you ask a theory something, and you get shuttle off to ChatGPT, that conversation history, at least right now, does not sink back to your ChatGPT account, right? So you can start a conversation with theory.

And ChatGPT then go to the ChatGPT APP to continue that same conversation. There's no sink between each of those interfaces. So I hope that something that changes because right now for me anyway, I still will probably get more use out of having just my action, but not my iphone linked to the ChatGPT APP. But again, it's the power to of having quick access for everybody, regardless of whether they actively use ChatGPT in other parts of their life.

And they also to put ChatGPT in the writing tools, right, so that close more options. IT has a describe your change like text field at the top, which is apple intelligence powered. And basically, before you'd have those buttons, you know, make IT friendly, make IT more serious.

But now you can just type in free form a description of the kind of change you want to make. Make this sound like a poem. You make IT sound like a pirates and like, and press go and IT IT will transform your text.

Or if you scroll down to the bone, writing tools is now a new composed bn, which shot us off ChatGPT. And you can do like from scratch tech generation using the ChatGPT a backend. And I think.

yes, I know there is image generation to, as part of the compose window. Two, I asked to generate me a picture of a baseball on a baseball field, and IT did. And it's a photo realistic image. It's apple. It's apple not doing photo realism itself but saying if you want to do IT, you can do IT via this little composed button handled by open eye.

It's there if you want to so yeah like if they were super and if they had a philosophy instead, I feel like they right. But yeah, they don't care that much. Okay, if if you want to use tragedy B T so the capacity to make images go right ahead, we're let you do and into great, give you the result directly back online.

Again, this stuff is you could do IT if by going to the ChatGPT up, but IT will get usage because it's now super more build in and so just exposed in the Better surface in all of the applications, much more natively um I think is great. Uh IT will be even Better if apple could offer themselves rather have to depend on the third pie and the yeah at least question mark of privacy around that stuff uh but is Better than nothing like and is not is not like a throw compared to just having a chat B T install. But it's definitely convenience is like a system extension, right? Um this seems good to me.

IT seems really good. That seems the the strategy of eighteen point one I think was doing things that only apple can do, like notification summaries, like adding stuff directly into the mae APP, adding writing tools around the interface. Then eighteen point two is kind of extending beyond that, with more broad A I features, more of the things people think of when they think of this new way of artificial intelligence, like the image, the image recognition stuff, like the compose button, like the the image generation stuff in background. Geog gmo is .

pretty unique because like although you could get you could go to ChatGPT commentate to make an image, looks like an A G, you'd never do that right. Because then you like image for and be weird, like the that is like building the people makes IT super compelling. But the other stuff c complete right is like aging.

Point was like what can we do in the system experiences to like A I F I IT we stuff like the quick replies on the apparition summaries. The number is like people expect when you talk about A I that you can make images and you can touch ChatGPT and have like a chapo experience. And so I guess would deliver that, you know, a refined sleep away with pretty U I. And rain by effects all over the shop, but basically stuff that people were doing if you went to find the apps manually through the apps store in a year already.

And there are going to be a lot of people who download I O S A T in point one next week and think that they can talk to syria like a chatbot because of the new syrian interface and because of the type to syria interface. And that is not the case. That is all included in eighteen point two. Going back to what me and you have been saying since forever, we're launching the new theory design with eighteen point one may prove to be a mistake, but we will .

see just wait two more month yeah repeating integrate and makes way more sense. I mean, I you'd waiting into you got the interact actions and know that in the personal contact theory, which isn't coming to point three point four, we don't know yet even said, but at the very least just don't add like a type of syria option when you can't type syria and actually get a response in every case. So yeah, that's a big mistake. But I have was gonna IT because eighteen point ones are release candidate and all the animations are in there and it's coming out next week. But if you actually want to type the theory, wait free point to because then you can actually get a response in every case because IT will fall .

back to ChatGPT other than appeal intelligence in, I was sitting, point to the new mail, APP designers is here. So this is where it's sorts your emails on device into primary transactions, updates and promotions categories. This works really well in my eighteen hours of testing, and you can actually, really categorize things too.

So if you get an email and IT goes into the like the updates tab, but you wanted in primary, you can just long press and move IT. For example, I use this site as an example before, but the are the daily digest email that we get from the post office here in the united states that went into the updates tab for me, but I want that in my primary tabs. So I just moved IT right over and presumably is smart enough to continue doing that with all future emails from that center for data day use.

For me, this does kind of have the same problem as the apple intelligence, uh, priority storting thing in the mail up where we get so much email to our tips. And nine to five, mcdowell, some of those are incredibly stupid. Some of them are important, very important.

And I don't necessarily trust this system to properly categorize m like I don't want to miss something because this on device intelligent thing, put IT in the transactions tab when IT should have been in the primary tab. So all see more about how accurate, how accurate the sorting is over time. But first impressions are good IT.

Be nice if you could like set certain like to like addresses to be like or don't never categories. Just put this in primary, you know, stuff that but some of those secondary tokers on what .

I haven't realized this, whether if factors in V I P to that system, if I said a sender as a VIP, if that always goes into primary, this, for example, I have all emails with apple dot com VIP. And so I see them right away. And I haven't realized if that goes into primary by def folder or not, but I have to check .

on that IT should, if IT doesn't, something that makes sense. And to be clear, the man that will come to non applied intelligence phones like mine, but right now, the eighteen point two batteries only release for apple integers phones. It's just like Carrying point one was rolled out where was like, I found fifteen, five and six exclusive for a couple of releases, and then they brought out for everybody. So we, I think we too, you probably t IT one by the two again, be A I focused as in only released for those compatible devices. Then IT will be open season and everybody will up update to through the day the process .

in two on eighteen point two, there's a weight list. In addition to the Normal apple intelligence weight list, there's a weight list for the image generation stuff. And whereas for the apple intelligence initial weight list, when eighteen point one beta one was released in july, that weight less seemed more of them testing the wait less system itself, right? So you pretty much got in within thirty minutes at most. But with image generation, that weight list, i've seen people who requested to be requested access right when the beta came out yesterday, who are still waiting today. There's clearly a bigger backlog e or a more strict, they're letting fewer people into the image generation stuff than they were the first apple intelligence features.

yeah. And and as we said, I don't think any the image generation happens on sva. So you can't blame server capacity. I think they're just being really cautious and they're like watching as IT rose out to make sure you can't like accidentally make IT generate pictures like now like they don't to avoid the sensitive subject.

So that has been really cared for being give a few people OK I wants abusing this in any way that weren't conceived OK now we can write to more people I don't know IT will continue to be at that when IT hits publicly barely over the bear season. Right now they're being a bit more hesitant. Mother, which is fine.

Eighteen point two adds a new default APP section in the settings APP, including the option to set defaults for messaging and calling apps worldwide. So this was initially thought that would only come to the european union, but it's worldwide. There are still other things that are exclusive to the E.

U. Then voice memos, the version of the APP that was shown at the iphone sixteen event for layer multiple tracks. That version of the APP is now available in eighteen point two.

And that layer feature is only on the iphone sixteen pro eating point to the big update. This is just made a one, and I soon will see more features added, maybe some of them removed. We never know over the next over the next two months ish because are expecting this to be released to everyone .

yeah and like we haven't seen the tvs by IT or anything else yeah some they should show up once the point to start for real, which should probably be about a couple of weeks after being with one ships yeah there pretty good. Like I saw some commentary that was like, this is the real apple. I didn't necessarily agree with that because no, like I think this is the opposite.

That has the flashy things where people can like make a image and light look at this is visually different, you know um but the most use five until gent features, they put in point one h at least at the series stuff with the personal content stuff is the most. And you know IT works well, but in terms of watch ships in twenty twenty four, they put the most useful stuff in point one. So that's like novation summaries, email summary, es quick replies.

Priority email and they like voted the photo search, photo memory stuff eighteen point tours where they added the fun stuff you know with image generation geoge chat betwen integration is really nice um so he said no, I guess is everyone that kind of said like in september or is so stupid that they haven't have A A fraction roll out this thing and they also have a any features but now that this is great, all these features areas you know is what difference a month makes you know like and of course this is actually probably shipping in the probably december, but it's only a matter a month really between it's not like their posing. Vo, where you know like all of the stuff for twenty twenty four is now officially at least testiment. M so I I think apple got some flag when IT wasn't really deserved. IT would be obviously idea if they get to ship everything in september, but clearly that wasn't possible. And the secondary roll out is not bad in the scheme of things.

Now I think the two buckets we broke up down into just a little bit ago are totally fair. And ultimately, I think they are the right call. So I think they made the right decision. And prioritising eighteen point one versus eighteen point two, just hopefully that theory, personal context stuff, and in APP actions come sooner rather than later, wants to get the twenty twenty five.

I'm kind of anticipating IT will be like the big flow in general february you know like yeah I want to much proper I think it'll be testable in them once begun of the other side, the other side, Christmas. Sweat the iphone of in september, apple announced its three new hearing health features coming to airports. S pro has had focused on prevention, awareness and assistance. That's the hearing protection, hearing test and hearing aid features and is now confirmed that those features will launch with IOS eighteen point one.

Next week, I was able to try the hearing test feature and the hearing aid feature, but primarily the hearing test feature with the latest airport dds pro somewhere. And I was eighteen point one R C. And it's really impressive.

IT works just like you'd expect to to where he plays the sounds. And you do your left ear than you're right ear. You tap the screen when you hear a sound.

And its longer and more in debt than I thought. I mean, like most people, I think I haven't taken an actual hearing test since, like elementary school. So IT kind of surprise me how long IT is.

But at the same time, at being so long and in depth really helps you think they are getting an actual resolve, like you're getting something that you would get if you went to to the doctor to get a hearing test, one I got like little to know. Hearing loss, I think, was my result. And it's a really impressive feature.

It's the stand out, I think. And what's gona have the most impact for a lot of people who just want to know, do I have hearing loss like I feel like I or maybe have mild hearing loss and this, i'll tell them exactly that. It's really impressive stuff.

So the hearing test, if I see what just place load times in your eleven air and you say if you can hear IT or not.

But now hear was a bit you can put head in and h get clarity h in somebody speaking maybe conference of something in a big room um or a restaurant something and the the the downsides of airports compared hearing ids like battle I I because five hours where hearing can keep for weeks at the time thing between or is the whole day um but you don't have to worry about going to a doctor. You don't have to worry about getting these things look weird or look alienating or look like a medical device. Airports fit in a Better, worse that is part of the culture these days, little White bud's new years.

Um and there is a great way to get accessible uh, improvements to your hearing for free. It's all free. You know I could be easy of charge for IT, right? H, you can see a different version, apple charging for this.

So an APP store like APP, but solely for games, his report explains, it'll integrate things like games singer, it'll have a play now tab for editorial content and suggesting new games with the games in our integration to there will be leaderboard achievements, face time and I mess genie tion, special events for gaming. So that something we see in the APP store today kind of on the on the main home page, you'll see like a fortnight has a well, not fortnight, I guess. But in some big gaming has yeah j if they have a big event or launch or something happening, you'll see IT on the main home page of the like a countdown and stuff.

So that'll be in the gaming up, supposedly basically like a separate APP store. But for games combining both games from the astor and also apple arcade, IT makes sense to me. And now you pointed out that apple T V R D has kind of a bar bones version of this, which i'd forgotten about.

Yeah, they just have let the ark tab, the APP store, yeas, a sector APP, which makes sense. The TV are actually you more likely to play games on, but they don't do on the phone is on in the tap of APP store. Um and I think it's a good is a good move.

Like me used to be a dedicated APP back in the day they got rid of IT and they like put all of the functions game in, saying for some unforseen reason like IT made no sense to super buried. They've slowly side like pushing games and more into the U I. apps.

So like when you log into account, you can like see the games and a little more stuff inside the application. You and the c ill forms a bit jank. You ever like having a dedicate a games portal makes a law sense. And if you're using game controllers, what you really won is like a equivalent to like a launcher for your games that you don't like constantly use like that get you if you're playing like sitting back on your ipad, ever you got, you got you control in your hand.

You play a game, you want to go home, you don't really want to see, like the springboard, your eye, who holding a controller, you want something more like what you have on, like places, export x like a game launch of thing, which maybe this APP will provide. Like IT be kind of awesome if you could use the gaming APP, which is maybe even landscape rather than portrait, like what the APP store is. So IT has your games that has is your lead.

You can like controller with the control game controller play a game, finish playing, you press back IT takes you back to like the gaming portal when you can play in another game or move on. Um I think there's love of opportunities to make a really nice h gaming experience. And they have they have a service that has some pretty games in IT, good apply add and right at all, kind of like stuff ed inside one tab of the APP store. So having a dedicated act with more tabs, more navigation, more options, and I think there's a clear run way there. And to do something pretty useful, I mean.

I am one of the biggest defenders or supporters of apple arcade. I think it's highly underrated. And I think one of the reason is undated as people just don't go to the APP store, look, I don't go to the APP store really to seek things out very often and splitting things into a separate ming up, I think could help raise awareness of what's on apple arcade.

And the game center stuff too is interesting because it's for a while, I thought the game center was just kind of dead. They gone. Life support, not really getting any features, but would mean Emily started playing finally, which is an excEllent game on apple.

Cade IT was pretty good. L like it's like, oh, she's this far ahead of me. Like I can see the leader boards for each of the different puzzles and versions of the game, see what I am and compares to her.

And when the day finally came that I passed her on, when those leader boards while I was playing, I just popped up with the games, interactive fiction, saying, you just possibly congratulations, like games that are still very much a good service in a good feature, IT just needs a little bit more promotion. You need to encourage people to use IT and to look at IT and to set up their profiles and cramping all of that into a hodge podge of the APP store and settings. Not the best strategy here. I like this idea. I hope, I hope that comes to ferient .

is the same strategy that they didn't passwords right? Like yeah but indecent functionality that for five years was built into the settings tab and you to screw around pulse's ds to find IT. Now in R A T is just an apple on the homework reen.

And suddenly a little more people like an apple as a passport. Yes, because whatever reason, if you put an up on the home screen, that gets way more traction than just being buried, even one more level deep. And so if they do the same thing with the with the games, um I think that they got real shot.

If you go into the L K tab on the outdoor a day on the iphone, there's like sections four game center you have like recent activity from your friends. People, you can add your friends list, friends lead board and high schools and stuff, but it's all kind of into modeled with everything. And you can just see IT be a lot clean if they could have dica for like he is the old game used to be for some reason they they killed off.

Um the only question I do have is that the the apple T V R K apps quite nice because if you have a family experience, you can just say no, just go to the R K top placing games and you know you're not going to see the bad games of the episode, you know the right, the casino games, the Peter win nonsense, all the advertising from at least what fully I described this new gaming. I will have A K in IT but it'll also have like all the other games from the APP store, which may be a bit of the downside because that is like you can't really give you to be up play games in here because they no likely to on stuff as in the purchase and things. So IT is like a clear donation there or maybe there's a saying to like high there or whatever because this is the same same of the T V, I, I guess. But like this time is applied to up like, hey, you're paying the script and just show me the description stuff. I don't want to see any other nonsense.

I mean, that goes back to one of my conspiracy there is about apple arcade in general is that apple is so hesitant to push you too much because I make so much from those caso games for children in at purchase games on the APP store. Like, that's one of my conspiracy theory. And I don't want to make IT too popular yeah right? I know IT seems possible to me. I don't know.

See and is very true that every apple event I have, they always have gaming sections now. right? Oh yeah, yeah.

And they keep talking about marketing and but they haven't really done anything unlike the O. S. Level to really push IT. And this would be a clear, a clear venture.

So the new ipad mini, which is branded ipad mini a seventeen pro now ipad is available, hit the stores on wednesday. And on tuesday, we've got the first embargoed press reviews. There's not whole lot here really.

It's the same. I ve had mini with the eight seventeen pro this time with double the storage at a one hundred and twenty eight bites with worse colors, blue and purple have been severely desaturated. They used all the paint on the iphone sixteen colors.

The big question going in to the reviews though was the jellyby alling effect. So this is when you're looking at the ipad mini n portrait mode, one side of the screen moves faster than the other and the sectors wava effect that hence the name jelly scrolling. And further, most part, with a few exceptions, the reviews seem to suggest that jelly y's calling is fixed.

Jason snow at six colors said he could notice any jelly is growing. And he specifically said that the new models display circuitry is different from the old model as part of apple's efforts, apparently, to fix the jelly y's world and problem. David pierce at the verge said that jellylike growling is still very much present on the new ipad mini and among the first embargo reviews.

So snail the verge, federigo, va. Teach he wired David pearce that the verge was the only one really to say that jellyby rolling was still a problem. But then yesterday, once this thing actually launched in some of the broader public at their hands on IT, I saw few videos on twitter saying that jEllies screwing ling is still a probably.

So I don't know I don't know what the situation here. I don't know if jay's girl's fixed. Maybe it's fixed a little bit.

I do think some of these people are probably conflicting jEllies screwing with the the general genki ess of a sixty hurts refresh display. They're used to using something with pro motion, whether its my phone or ipad pro. So when they look at the ipad, many with sixty hurts. They think the lower refresh ate is jelly is growing when it's not. That's two different things I don't know.

IT is funny that you can have like there go up and a half like yeah it's fixed to that you others no IT isn't. I think I think if you want to, to be fair, is at least been significantly reduced so more people can perceive IT. And maybe IT depends on the exact type of motion that's going on depending on how um visibility is.

The thing that I saw that really convincing, like all they have actually made a meaningful difference here is the video from raf z at D I R that you embedded on the like round up thing and he basically has a the new I em on this animation of White lines and black rectangle s going up and down. And you can very clearly see that on the old ipad. Many, there's like a dig, no slam as IT scrolling, which is obvious.

Ly, the jetty scrolling where pop the screen is updating later. And then on the new ipad, many, the lines are pretty damn straight. So IT does seem like that that something has actually mean changed there. And IT does look, at least on that example, fixed. So if you were really sensitive to the jays going before, you might, uh, maybe go to the up store and trying and see you on in persons say what is like, but seems like it's theyve at least to try to fix that. You know it's not just the exact same screen, whether it's completely gone unclear.

And to be clear to jEllies, scaling is a problem on most LCD screens, right? It's not. The problem was IT was significantly worse on the ipad, many for whatever, on the ipad, many six for whatever reason. So if they made IT significant Better. And now what you get is just kind of part for the course Normal for this type of display, then there's not much else they can do short of, I don't know, switching to oh and adding promotion, which they .

should totally do at some point. But exactly bate in epic is the orientals reason they made IT VIP in portrait landscape because the portrait screens is more than with is more easy to see the the separation and whether older L C D ipads for more landscape products. And that's why I was like hidden more, but also was just the fact that for whatever is the the open mino C D just showed IT IT was moral distinct in terms of IT being lagging behind.

Um so maybe like the new one is just the kind of same as the other as the other pads s they are right up. Spect is a wide situation. But if you are ready on the fence about by number many IT does say, might they have at least ninety percent fixed IT based on the the summer interviews? Is IT still the same screen otherwise? Yeah, of course.

Is would IT be Better if they made an IP, have any private promotion and face I D and know that josey? Yes, I would, baby. That this is, I think this got like the verge, gaby. Like I take at ten bit me, in my opinion, like the virtual review .

Like I agree with David, like the ipad mini still feels like a second class, second class citizen still is very much just kind of flying under the right are and I would love them to do more, but they didn't. For what IT is this ipad mini eight, seventeen pro is, it's a good ipad mini. You know, it's Better. It's Better to have this than to exist in a world without an ipad mini, which I think was a totally plausible outcome .

a few years ago. Yeah like the the verge view kind of slam IT for only going to only having an a seventeen pro chip rather him chip. I guess fair compared to like the ipad and the ipad pro.

But if you look at the ipad mini line is upgrading from an eight fifteen, so is way faster than the old ipad many years, right? Is not IT doesn't like because he doesn't go an empty p doesn't an is incapable. Um and so you kind of a lot of your opinions on the the best perspective on what you review IT, right as a continuation the ipad many line.

This seems like a pretty decision update. You've got apple pencil pencil, so you'd have to use the old pens more. You got more. You got more storage for the same Price and you got two years more now modern a chip. Um hopefully another two, three years down the line. There will be time for the open minute to get any bigger revision IT would be great if they could put face idea on that, for instance. But as is I think it's all I in fine and destiny Price for what you get.

The ongoing saga of the week has been will there be an apple event? Will there are not be an apple event? What is the definition of the word event nowadays? Because we are still waiting on the m for max.

Apple did seen those invites six days beforehand, so that could be they could come today for something next wednesday. But with each passing minute, it's looking more and more like these new mac updates could just be press releases with some sort of maybe videos on the youtube.

Yeah I mean, today is like church time. I guess if they don't send them their invites today than this, my definition of event is when people fly to apple park and cup, tina, I guess, or another venue like that where they they invite a lot, press to one location and in the post covered world, that has meant the day job here to watch the video and then you get hands .
