Hey everybody and welcome to AfterWezTV. This is the after show for Chasing Life and tonight's episode, A Bottle of Secrets. Welcome everybody. I'm your host Heather Joy Smith and you can find me on Twitter at Heather Joy Smith with my lovely co-host tonight. Hey guys, I'm Kristen Strange. You can find me on Twitter at Kristen Strange. Hey guys, I'm Michelle Fee and you can find me on Twitter at underscore Michelle Fee. And we have a very special guest in studio tonight. This is Archer, you guys. Hi Archer. Isn't he the cutest? He's so cute.

We're very dog friendly here. If you hear a bark or a growl, it's because a man came. Yeah. Archer doesn't like men very much, so we just keep him at the girls' table with us. We do. He wants to be the only guy around. Yeah. He doesn't like to share. He doesn't like to share his female friends.

So tonight's episode, we got some flashbacks. We got to uncover some secrets that we've all been wondering for the last few weeks. Thank God. Right. I kind of felt like this should have been the finale, but it's not. I know. Although, I don't know. I feel like the finale has to be surrounding cancer.

That's true because it's always surrounding cancer. You're right. Yeah, but that just makes it so much more predictable. You know what I mean? And then we're always crying. I know. I didn't cry this episode. No, I definitely didn't cry this episode. I was kind of irritated the whole episode at George because we've

gone through this entire two seasons loving George. George is like, yay, Uncle George! And this episode, I really was not a fan of Uncle George. And he was acting like it was so crazy that they were suspicious of him. It's like, you're hiding something! You've been lying to them! Why would you think that they aren't suspicious? Why do you think that's not okay? I just felt like he was kind of being a jerk about it, too. Like,

They're like, you know, I can't remember exactly what the line was, but at the very beginning, they were kind of like teasing him like, oh, well, is that so? And he's like, yeah, of course. Like, no, George, you're lying right now. And they're calling your BS. May has been a little bit of a little... So I wrote in here, I said, George and May broke up. Yeah, they're so boring. Yeah.

Good riddance to you, man. I mean, why would we even care? Other than that, to freeze him up to be with Sarah. Right. Which we all wanted, but, like, not now. Not after that. No, I don't want him to be with her now. Yeah. What were you going to say? Well, I was just going to say, not only that, but, like, we rarely saw her the, like, entire episode. So it's like they took the one chance that they, like, gave to the audience to actually get to know her and made her, like, into this completely awful person. Exactly. Exactly. But to her defense, she was...

staying in a house that's owned by someone who she feels like ruined her relationship. Right, I mean, get it. So it's like, I would probably be in a bad mood, too. But, like, she was just so rude the whole episode. And then when the tree fell on her and George is, like, stitching her up and they're, like, bickering back and forth, it's like, shut up, Mae. And when that tree fell on her, it was the worst acting I've ever seen in the whole experience. But I, like, didn't even see the tree actually fall on her. Mom was like, ah!

And it was like a cut. Like, okay, yeah, it was a bad cut. But he was like, May! Like, the tree fell on her. I know. Like, I got, like, the tree, like, collect. Like, she was sitting right there, and the tree came through the window. Like, I thought she was, like, under the tree or something. Like, the way that he screamed. Not that she got, like, a little scratch. I was like, wait, that was really... I was like, calm down. ...anti-climatic just now. But anyways. And when did it become winter? I know! It's like...

blizzard like storm outside. I was like cracking up laughing because at first when they opened the door the very first time and you saw it was snowing I was like really why would they make it snowing right now? This is so not good timing for it to be snowing out. How did I made and then it made sense why it was snowing and why they made it like that but I was like what is going on?

I know. I was like, I don't feel, I feel like it was just summer. Right. So, it's really hard when it's 91 degrees here. Apparently. I mean, I feel like the other weird thing about it also is that we don't know the time frame for when everything ends. Right. So, it's like,

When it first came on, everything was like day to day, and now it's just like day and then month. Yeah, right. Although, I feel like today was one day later because she said yesterday... Beth said yesterday I stopped by and talked with my free therapist. Right. Yes. Which was interesting also because...

Let's get into that really quick. So Beth and April, obviously, were having some differences. But, like, April had no idea that Beth was so upset. Yeah. Which is interesting. But then I'm glad that April finally said to Beth, well, what's going on in your life? Like, she just... And then she told her how happy she was. Right. I was glad. She was getting happy. It was like, good. They needed that talk. They needed that talk. Mm-hmm. We need to have a talk, Archer. I know. I know.

Archer's like, let me down. Stop crying. We know you want to have a word in, but sorry. Okay, so let's start from kind of the beginning. George is kind of caught in these lies...

April asks him where the manuscript is. He says it's packed away. Like, I'm not done reading it. It's, like, always an excuse every time she asks him. Yeah. And obviously she knows he's lying. I hope she has a copy of it somewhere. I know. I do, too. I hope so, too. I hope she made a smart decision. I mean, that would be, like, super irresponsible of her. Like, unlike her. You know what I mean? It would be very unlike her, but I feel like that was the only copy. I do, too. I feel... But...

She wouldn't have gone to those extremes going through his luggage to find it. Unless she wanted to catch him in a lie. Right.

Or maybe she doesn't want anyone to know she had a copy. Or maybe Natalie has a copy and she doesn't want anyone to know. So many possibilities. Yeah, has a copy. I love the fact that they put up the hashtag George is lying while this whole manuscript thing is going on, like the lies of it, because it's just funny. I just thought that was real comedy, like perfect timing. But there was also lies...

About everything else that went on. Natalie and April also confronted him about a possibility of a third family, which I know we've kind of talked about in the past may be happening. But I don't know if I fully know that there wasn't anyone else. I don't think yet. I don't know. I feel like anything is possible. Right. Like...

They could say that he doesn't have a family now, but then a season from now, like, all of a sudden, someone else will pop up. You never know. Right. She did say, I always wanted a brother. Exactly. Foreshadowing. Exactly. You never know. Yeah. Maybe he did have another family in Baltimore. Gosh, like...

How many women does this man need? He's just shady. I know. Like, cheating once, like, shame on you. Cheating twice, like, shame on Sarah. I feel like his extent of cheating went way beyond just cheating. Like, he full-on was lying for years and years and years. Well, he wins his double life. He had another daughter that he never told them about. Like, that is just so beyond. Yeah. I don't... Ugh. You never know at that point, like, what else he's possibly...

possibly done. Who knows?

And it makes me sad for Natalie, like, this whole episode, just because she was like, number one, my dad had all these issues. Number two, then he was sick. Right. And he killed himself. And I didn't get anything from it. Like, he killed himself for his family. Right. We'll get into that. But I was not important. Right. But he also lied to Sarah about going to Baltimore. Right. Because he told Sarah that he was going for rehab because he was an alcoholic. Right. Which we learned from George, he actually has ALS. Mm-hmm.

Which is true. Yeah. I mean, do we believe George that he has ALS? Yeah. You want to believe that something like that would be true. And I think that makes sense, too, with that flashback we saw from April where she looked really young, by the way. Like, they did a really good job making her look young. I thought the same thing. I was like, they made her look so young in that. I was like, wow, good props to you guys. Good makeup. Mm-hmm. But.

I mean, she doesn't look old by any means. No. She doesn't look 19 or 18 like she did then. Yeah, and they made her look real, like, teenager. But, yeah, like, where he was sad about leaving her so she would always remember home, that was probably because he knew he was going to die. Right. Like, if it's an incurable disease, he's new, like, he's on a timeline. Yeah, so what she's talking about, if you guys haven't seen it yet, is there was this snow globe that...

that Thomas gave April basically before he went to Baltimore and it was like here's a gift I'm going away kind of thing but it was more like him saying his goodbyes this is the end and it was in fact the last time that he saw her which is so sad like I don't know

I guess if he knew, you would have thought it would have been a little bit more emotional. He's crying. He was crying. But he's probably trying to stay strong for her. He probably wasn't. He probably didn't want to be too, I guess, emotional. Yeah. Because then that would really tip her off. Like, what is going on with you? Crazy. But yeah, I guess you're right. I guess I do, in that sense, believe that he had ALS because if he knew he was going to die, then...

I mean, the way he died wasn't from ALS, but, you know. Right. Yeah. Okay, so let's get to that, I guess. So, they're all basically stuck in this house. May goes to bed because she's got her little boo-boo there. Wah, wah, oh, May. Um...

Beth goes to bed because she's drunk and she gets sent to bed. So you're left with basically Sarah, Natalie, Brenna, April,

And George. And they're all kind of sitting by this fireplace, and they hit him hard. Like, you tell us now. We want to know the truth. And he's still doing his whole, like, little dance, like, it's for the best. You don't know. I think that in lying, you have to get to a point where it's like, just tell them. Right. Especially, too, like, what if April does die? Is she going to die never knowing the truth? Like, he's going to let her die like that?

that. No, everybody deserves the truth. Right, and I feel like at that point where they were at, there were so many lies being thrown around that

She probably couldn't keep track of them all. She probably couldn't keep track of it all. And whatever this was, was probably better than any of those lies. Yeah. Regardless of how horrible that situation is that Thomas put himself in. So we learned from George that he wasn't really an alcoholic. He had ALS. He knew he was going to die, but he didn't want to have his family basically see him

Like, in that... Yeah, deteriorate. Like, in that, like, it's very hard to watch somebody with ALS. Right. Like, it's a struggle for them. And so he didn't want his family to have to watch that. And so I understand, like, him wanting to get that, you know, over with, like, the dying part. Right. But he went to George and asked George to assist with it, which obviously...

As a medical professional, that is so against everything. And he 100% assisted in killing him. He did. He ended up 100% doing it. It's like... I mean, I get where he was coming from, and I don't know what I would do in that position, but he could have saved his life. Right. And he wouldn't have lived much longer, but he could have saved his life, and he didn't do it. I feel like if I was in that predicament, I would have saved them, because...

Now George has to live with the fact that he just let him die sitting next to him. Yeah, he shouldn't let him. Yeah, yeah. I don't know. I feel like if he would have just, like, if George, if he would have gone without George knowing, yeah, he could have died and it could have been on no one's hands. Right. And who's to say that that wasn't an accident? Like, it may look a little bit suspicious to an insurance company, but how do you prove that that wasn't an accident? Exactly. Especially when he's sick. Right.

The weird thing is, why would Thomas do that in front of George? Like, that's kind of awful on Thomas' part. Like, oh, hold on, brother, I'm going to go, you know, run my car into a... Make you an accessory to suicide. Right. Why would you even involve George in that? Like, that's just a rotten thing for a brother to do, first off. Right. Like, why you would do that? I...

And then... I don't know. There's just so many things. Well, I want to... Let's go back to how George said that Thomas had ALS. I think if you go back a couple episodes, remember... I can't remember his name, but the writer guy who was talking to April. He said that Thomas went crazy. Ewan or something like that. Yeah. Edwin. The one who tried to hit on April. Yeah. Which is really awkward. But he said that he went crazy before he died. So...

Do you think there's some possibility that it was an ALS? Like maybe Thomas was going crazy and he didn't have that disease. Maybe he was depressed. Maybe he was thinking he had it, like making things up. Like what is it called when you think you have different diseases and stuff? Oh, and you're a hypochondriac. I wonder if he was something like that. Or maybe he knew he had it and he wanted to just like go crazy. Yeah, just like end it all.

Maybe. Archer's, like, really loving my necklace right now. He is. Because didn't he say, like, he was drinking a lot and doing crazy things and then he had... He was, like, gambling and stuff. Yeah, and then, yeah, April's mom said he was an alcoholic. Yeah, so he's just like, screw it. Right. Right.

So maybe it was a mixture. If he was an alcoholic, he did have ALS. Maybe all these things were a contributing factor. Well, we won't know unless George tells the freaking truth. Yeah, George needs to stop lying. It makes me so mad when people lie. I feel like George is still holding out so much information. Totally. I don't know.

Because why would he also be there? But Kristen has a very important message to give you all. I do. So a few months ago, we told you guys about our Dance Battles casting, and we wanted you guys to submit to it. It was that show that started with Maria Menounos and Derek and Julianne Ho. Am I pronouncing that right? Huff. Huff, right. And I did it for Christmas. Yeah, and Heather participated.

So I've been doing this for like two years on Instagram, and finally it's becoming a show. And we have eight families coming to L.A. to battle it out, and it's going to be amazing. So it's going to be called Dance Battle America. It's on ABC September 14th, right after Dancing with the Stars, and it's going to be out at 10 p.m., so make sure you tune in. Maybe you'll see someone you know. Maybe you'll see Heather. Maybe you'll see me. She might be in there, so take a look. Yay. Awesome. Very cool. Okay. Okay.

So, let's get into some predictions. It's hard to predict. I feel like this was kind of like... It was way out of left field. This is way out of left field. I feel like, like I said before, this felt like a finale episode. It did. You're supposed to end now. It felt like an anticlimactic finale. Right. What's funny because...

In my head, I was thinking it was the finale. So I was actually thinking that exact same thing. It's like, this is really anti-climatic for a finale. And then after the show was over, then we got previews for next week. And I was like, whoa, this is not the finale. You're like, wait. I'm like, wait, what just happened here? I actually didn't see the preview. So tell me what happened.

I can't remember. Okay. Wow. I think I was so shocked by the whole, like, oh. We have another week left? We have another week. I was like, oh. You were like, I was not expecting that. That caught me off guard. I was like, what? Here's what happened. When you watch it on abcfamily.com, they do not let you watch the preview. They don't. Yeah, they don't show you the preview. You have to go to YouTube. It's like a whole experience. Right. abcfamily.com. Give me the preview right after. I'm there anyways. I just want to see it.

Okay. So predictions. I really, I just, I don't know what to even say other than I hope George next episode comes completely clean. Yeah. I, I don't know. I, I don't, this,

I think that April, now that she's kind of, like, got some closure in her life, is going to get... I feel like she's going to get back to work or, like, get back to doing something. Because, you know, she's just been, like, sick and, like, mourning her dead husband and, like, now trying to figure out everything with her dad. I feel like now that she's kind of got a little bit of closure on all of those points, she's going to get back to either work or writing her book or helping people in some way or, like, doing something. I have...

if she writes her own book. Yeah. I think that would be really cool for her to do. Yeah. I do too. Even if it was like

a kind of twist like off of like her life story because now it's like really like if she took like bits and pieces from her dad's story and then intertwined them with some of her own it could be interesting I think it would be really cool if she became like the new Leo and like made cancer people cancerous dreams come true like took his money and kind of like continued his legacy that's a good one too that's a very good one

I kind of feel like you guys said everything. I mean... Well, what do you think is going to happen with Brenna? I really didn't say much. Um... Well, I hope she gets into Berkeley. I do, too. I hope that she actually goes... Oh, yeah, for sure. I forgot about that. Yeah. Barely even mentioned, but... Yeah. I mean... I hope so, too. Yeah, I hope she also gets, like, a bigger...

storyline too because I'm also like super interested in what she does. Yeah. Besides April. And I love her character. Oh my god. Okay I have an idea. Okay so April writes the book and she then writes the movie for it. Oh the screenplay. That'd be great. Yep. That's a great idea. Perfect. Chasing life too. Yeah.

We'll tweet us your guys' predictions. Oh, and Finn. Oh, yeah. And Finn. We didn't see him at all. I think that within the next three episodes, they're going to find out who each other is. Oh, yeah. You're right. That's got to be the finale episode for sure. That's what's going to be the tearjerker, you guys. That's the one. Do you think they're going to kiss after next week? Or the week after. However many weeks we have left. Right.

So tweet us your guys' predictions. Let us know what you guys think and if they should write a book. If Brenna and Finn should make out, let us know. Yes, please do. You can tweet me at HeatherJoySmith and you can also find me on Snapchat and Instagram at HeatherJoySmith.
