I'm your host, Nick DeStefano. You can call me Nick D. And I am excited and honored that you are choosing to join me on this journey and

Of who knows what the hell it is yet, I am just doing my best to deliver some awesome content to you in 15 minutes or less that will make your life just a little bit better and a little bit more awesome. So, I am here doing episode one. Today's episode is all about self-doubt. Self-doubt.

Y'all, the struggle is real. The doubt that we feel in ourselves is also so very real. And I am not immune to that. And I want you to hear me say that honestly. That this podcast is a perfect example of it. I don't know exactly what I'm doing. I don't know if this is good. I don't know if you're going to enjoy this. And I am doubting the hell out of myself when it comes to creating this podcast.

podcast for you. I'm going to give it my best. I'm going to create content. I'm going to share the content that I have as a part of my leadership consulting business with you in this podcast format, but I'm no expert and I am absolutely doubting whether or not this thing is going to work, whether or not people are going to listen.

And here's the perfect example of it for you. So just this past week, I recorded the very first episode, episode zero. Hopefully you were able to listen to that. When I recorded episode zero, I tried to be intentional about where I did it, how I did it. Did I use the right speaker? Did I use the right headphones? What was the sound quality? And I was extremely nervous about even doing it. So much so that

You're not listening to this and this episode one hasn't even been published until I was comfortable with episode zero and then recording episode one. So for example, I finished episode zero last Thursday or Friday and I probably sent it to six or seven different people saying, what do you think? Do y'all like this? Is this okay? How did it sound?

Like seriously, those are questions that I actually asked other people. I'm going to read you real quick a text message that I had with one of my buddies who's really good and has encouraged me to do this podcast, but he's really good at video editing and digital content creation and someone who has a background in this and went to school for it and is doing it as part of his job or it is his job and

And this is the text message that we had last show. I'm going to read this for you verbatim. This is with my buddy Mike. So I sent him this text message that said, well, I haven't officially shared this with anyone, but I did a thing. Dot, dot, dot. Take a listen. It's only nine minutes and let me know what you think. His response 10 minutes later was freaking awesome. I said, dude, I'm so damn nervous about it, though. LOL.

He responds to me, sounds like you need to find someone who will talk to you about success and struggle. I think I may know a guy. He graduated in 2009 and 2011, to which I think I literally laughed out loud. And he says to me in response, I'm seeing the real side of Nick D. The real side. Y'all, I struggle with this. We all struggle with this. It's real.

You're allowed to doubt what you do. That's okay. It makes you human. It doesn't make you bad. It doesn't mean you can't do something great. So I said to him, facts, we all struggle and we doubt ourselves. Ain't that the truth? To which he responds from one of the videos that I am working with him on creating for Misericordia University. It ain't all sunshines and rainbows and ice cream. We have to eat vegetables and kale.

Actually, stay away from kale. Kale is gross. And I said, it sounds like you've heard that somewhere before. He responds, it may be the guy I was referring you to. Can't put a name to the face. We go on to continue talking about how, you know, when it comes to doing something awesome, you need to stop waiting for the awesome moment and the awesome time to do it. That's how I feel about this podcast.

I am not creating the perfect podcast. I'm not creating the most awesome podcast, but I'm creating something that you can listen to and hopefully be inspired to be just a little bit better. Making a small change to make a large difference. That's what these podcasts are all about. So what can you do to eliminate self-doubt? Because that's what this is all about, right? You're not just listening to this to hear me tell you a story about me doubting myself, right?

What I want you to hear me say and what I want you to practice is one is greater than nothing. Something is greater than nothing. So the next time you're doubting yourself and thinking, I can't do this. I'm not sure if this is the right thing. Maybe I shouldn't have this conversation. I shouldn't create this content. I shouldn't take this leap of faith. One step forward is better than no steps forward.

So I want you to write down for yourself, and this is the actionable item here, right? This is the action awesome that I talk about what this podcast will be all about and what you'll get every time you listen to one of these episodes. I want you to write down a list of the little things you can do today. Okay, I'm not saying they're going to be perfect, but I want you to write down a list. Write down as many as you possibly can.

Okay, so for me, when I started this podcast, one of the things that I did, and it came out of creating a list, was I put on my list things like reach out to some experts, ask for their opinion. I wrote down things like research what software is out there and apps are out there to make my life easier. And that's ultimately what I did to start this. I'm using an app called Anchor that basically allows me to record all of this stuff straight from my phone.

And allows it to get published to places like Spotify and other places that host content for podcasts. It's not perfect, but one is greater than nothing. You have a list of things that you could do today to help you achieve your goals. You're not going to achieve your goal today, but you can create a list that will help you achieve your goals. So that's the actionable, awesome,

step that you need to take today. Whatever that goal is of yours, whatever you're afraid of, whatever you're doubting, I want you to take some time today and create one large long list of things that you're going to do today and then maybe the next day. And remember that one is greater than nothing. One is always greater than zero. So take some time today and make that list.

And that's how you can start eliminating self-doubt. Because y'all, we all got it. Every single one of us is doubting ourselves all the time. Tell that negative committee that is meeting in your head to sit down and shut the hell up. Y'all, you're more awesome than you're giving yourself credit for. Stop doubting yourself and start chasing the awesome life. I'll see y'all on the next podcast and the next episode. I look forward to chatting with you soon.
