Food is such a basic human need. It nourishes us and sustains us but it is actually more than that. We are truly what we eat. The nutrients in our food literally shapes our health. At a time of ever increasing global “life style diseases” resulting from food and exercise habits now is a good time to embark on a conversation about food. Food, at its heart is culture. It is the very identity of a people. When we want to understand a culture, we start by sharing their food to learn their culture. Food, therefore becomes a bridge to overcome our cultural divides. In fact, if we all made the time to enjoy each-others’ food and celebrate each-others’ culture through their music and dancing we might begin to realize how similar we all are. Food truly can be what nourishes our body and nurtures our soul to build relationships. I am very blessed to have as my guest today, Chef Brian, who not only understands this love of food but has made it his mission to change the lives via food.
