In this episode I am joined by Vitaly Rivkin, a long time referee, as we discuss the referee crisis in the youth ice hockey sport community. Vitaly Played hockey’s since he was a kid back in Russia. After immigration to the United States he became a referee. Vitaly reffed at different levels of youth and adult hockey in NY and NJ for over 15 years. The shortage in referees has grown throughout the nation and continues to grow in youth sports. Vitaly and I discuss the current issues facing the referees and coaches in youth sports, what we see as a root cause of the problem and the potential solution, and help us bring awareness so we can create partnerships and collectively grow the game.
