One of the hallmarks of the "progressive" side of our nation is their incredibly strong desire to drive our society forward into the future with new ideas. It is their role to take us from where we are now to where they think we could be in the future, dragging us out of our complacency forward into a place where the old ways are replaced with updated and upgraded philosophies that can take us to new heights. This is certainly a noble goal and is something that we absolutely need in our society, but there is a big question mark when it comes to how far we should move and how quickly.
