David Rooney worked for Jaguar between 1980 and 2004 in Quality Development at a pivotal time for the company. In this magical interview, David takes us behind the scenes at Jaguar and shares his memories and stories from working alongside the greats like Sir John Egan, Jim Randle, Norman Dewis, Peter Taylor and David Fielden. In this trip behind the factory doors at Browns Lane, David speaks with Wayne Scott to share his memories on how he arrived at Jaguar after a career at Lucas and Triumph and how he worked on improvements to the XJ6 series 3, XJ40 and XJ-S. He also explained the differences that arrived with the dawning of the Ford era and also the improvements that Sir John Egan brought to the ailing company to turn it around during the 1980s. Today, David is a volunteer at the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust and also at one time, owned two Jaguars previously supplied to Bob Knight. Sit back, relax and take this journey with us behind the scenes at the Jaguar plant at Browns Lane. Plus we hear from Matthew Davis on how his season racing his Swallows Racing prepared Jaguar has played out so far.
