Feel Good Friday! A Second Chance for People and Things who Deserve It!

This week’s feel good story is about a company called Second Chance, in Baltimore, Md. Second Chance offers 2nd chances for materials and 2nd chances for people. 

Second Chance is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides people, materials and the environment with a second chance. They deconstruct buildings and homes, salvage usable materials, and make those and other donated items available to the public for reuse at their more than 200,000 square foot retail center. With the revenue generated, they provide job training and workforce development for those with various employment obstacles in the Baltimore region.  Many of the people they hire, were previously incarcerated and/or had drug addictions.Second Chance's mission has always been:

• to retrain and create employment for displaced and unemployed workers, in many cases, previously incarcerated workers;
• to reclaim building material to reduce environmental harm and demolition debris in burgeoning landfills; and
• to renew both people and products to a useful, purposeful life.
