Manchester City could only manage a 1-1 draw with Everton, continuing their poor form.
Pep Guardiola left Kevin De Bruyne on the bench because he wasn't 100% physically ready to play, and Guardiola wanted to preserve his energy.
Liverpool won 3-1 against Leicester City, extending their lead at the top of the Premier League to seven points.
Fulham scored two late goals to secure a 2-1 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Newcastle United won 3-0 against Aston Villa, with Isak continuing his fine scoring record.
Bruno Fernandes received a second yellow card and was sent off, which significantly impacted Manchester United's performance, leading to a 2-0 loss to Wolves.
Gerard Bowen scored the 100th league goal of his career, securing a 1-0 win for West Ham against Southampton.
Bournemouth extended their Premier League unbeaten run to six matches but could only manage a 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace.
Nottingham Forest secured a narrow 1-0 win over Tottenham, with Anthony scoring the decisive goal.

TalkSport Daily.
Hello gang, happy Friday and I hope you had a fabulous Christmas. Welcome to Talk Sport Daily Podcast, I'm your host Jason Cundey. There is only one place to start today's party thing and that's with a full boxing day of festive football as Talk Sport bring you five live and exclusive commentaries from across the network.
You gorged out yesterday on food, well it's a day to gorge out on football today. It's in giant to the far corner and he's scored. And Manchester City's winter of discontent takes another twist. Well, Erling Haaland has the ball in his hand, left-footed. He sends it towards Pickford's left.
Oh, and it's saved by the goalkeeper and a rebound. He's headed in but he's offside. It just goes from bad to worse for City. Palmer skips away from a couple of challenges, shoots left footed into the bottom corner. Cole Palmer delivers again when you needed a man for the big occasion. Great red card for John Duran, their afternoon gets worse. Newcastle 1, Aston Villa 0. And Alenga scores for Nottingham Forest. They're rocking all over the world and they are rocking their way.
Up that Premier League table. Newcastle 3, Aston Vanille, Bruno Guemera. With the final toast, Southampton 0, West Ham 1. Could be great for Fulham, but they're coming forward. And he's run it! And he's run it in the 95th minute! A snap for Bredge! Chelsea 1, Fulham 2. Funya down the middle, Wang to the left, Wang to steer it. Oh! Just United play!
And the revival continues. It is Wolves 2, the ten men of Manchester United 0. Salah goes for the killer! And Mo Salah!
Liverpool will go seven points clear at the top of the Premier League. It ends at Anfield, Liverpool three, Leicester City one. There were eight Premier League fixtures yesterday and me and Jamie O'Hara and Numbnuts were there to take all your calls after the action on the sports blog. Slots Liverpool were top of the table at Christmas but hosted Ruud van Nistelrooy's Leicester in the late kick-off yesterday brought to you live here on Talksport. These players showed already during the season that so many times when they were needed
They showed up as well, some of them started in the D-cup, some had different starts during the season as well. I think that's the biggest compliment the team can get. Of course I pick certain starters a bit more than others, but every time someone comes in he does the job as well. So that's the positive thing for us. It's hard to see
I know Arsenal could go six points behind, but Liverpool still have a game in hand on them. You can't see them losing three or four on the trot, can you? No, not at the moment, you can't. They just look really efficient, really well organised. And the one thing as well, that no one's talked about, this place is a fortress. When they get it up and rocking, it's good. Don't get me wrong, there was moments in this game where it was a bit nervy and you thought, oh, we could go the other way. But for everything right now, they've been excellent. They've got goal scorers, they've got real leaders in the team.
and they've got a clear identity and a real mission of what they want to do? I think it was a very positive performance. We knew coming to Anfield that we want to make it a competitive game, which means we have to defend well because Liverpool is a dominant force in all of the games they're playing, especially at Anfield.
So we needed to defend well as a unit. We did. We were in the game until late with a 2-1, with a couple of breaks to score the equaliser with Dakar that chance. So we felt that the result was
Yeah, it was possible and that was what we were looking for today and that's a compliment for the team. It just disappoints me when the teams that are so good in the Championship come up to the Prem and then try and play the Premier League brand of football. That's not what we are. Get yourself in, be big, be ugly, do the horrible things. Yes, you're going to lose, that's part of the game, but you'll win a few more games by upsetting people.
In the evening kick-off, Victor Pereira took charge of his first game at home with Wolves and he faced fellow countryman Ruben Amaran's Manchester United. Yeah, good evening and welcome to the Sports Bar on Talk Sport. I'm Jamie O'Hara and alongside me again is Jason Tundey. Has anyone seen Manchester United? The leaky roof. Can you hear me, leaky roof? You're my winner. Hello.
Can you...
When we were discussing on kick-off on Monday night which players at Manchester United should stay and who needs to go, everybody was agreed Bruno Fernandes is quite possibly, at this moment in time, the most crucial player. And yet this happens. And I know he played well first half, but he is not a proper captain. It's a silly foul on the edge of the Wolves' box.
at the start of the second half and I think everybody's agreed it's the second yellow he's got to go what is the Man United captain doing that for why isn't he thinking I just need to not make a challenge here I need to stay on the pitch they deserve better the United fans they deserve better from their captain
Do you know what? You're not wrong to a point. I do think that was one of those where it's a little bit of a lazy one, but you can't afford to be lazy in that. You're right, in the position that it was, you know, I spoke about it as well. And he's gone from high to low rather than coming across, which makes it look worse. You can't be making that type of tackle. But for me, he's still one of United's best players right now. Whether you say he's a captain or not, you tell me who's a captain in this United side. I think the first yellow is...
And then when he plays, he wants to reach the ball without wanting to make a foul even or stop a play and then...
The other guy touched the ball and then Bruno touching the opponent, he was sent off. Is it an even tougher job at the moment than you perhaps expected it to be before you came in? I said it before everybody. It will be a long journey and this moment will be really tough and we are not near that moment.
So we have to continue to improve in all aspects of the game. We need to have time to train. And then when you are in these kind of moments in a big club, it's really hard to go out, but we will continue to fight. I think it's a gift from Christmas. A big gift. It was a fantastic experience until now, but we know that we have a lot of work to do, a lot of things to correct.
to improve but the players they are committed with the ideas and this is important for me. Talk Sport Daily. Nottingham Forest narrow 1-0 win over Spurs.
Spurs saw them finish, yes, in third position. New North Spurs were sent to a big ange. We're in different moods after the game. That is what it is. You've just got to deal with it. No choice. You know, we were... Players are given everything and that's all I can ask for as a manager. And, yeah, we've got to just
just keep focusing on the job at hand and we've got a big game Sunday and focus on that now I told you guys over three and a half weeks ago right that Andy's at his depth he has to go now right if he don't win against Wolves we've got a depleted defence we've only got Draguse is possibly injured we've got Spence obviously suspended on that red card
OK, we've got the main two central defenders out. OK, if we don't win that game, he's definitely gone. If he's not going to go beforehand. I told you guys, you didn't listen to me. Before I was out of my mind, the club's rotten to the core. I said, you said, no, no, I can't have him that, you said. And I told you, Landman, let it be right, OK? He's clueless. I went to the game tonight. It's absolutely appalling. We are very happy with the performance and the way we worked this game. A tough one, tough, tough one. We started well.
Then Tottenham imposed their quality and put us against the ropes. We had luck that our goalkeeper made huge saves for us to keep us on the game. But we played good football, we went, we were brave. The finish of Anthony, the pass is beautiful. And then in the end it's the city ground, the energy that they pass to us to keep this result. Talk Sport Daily.
Now the Super Chels went to the second position in the league with an opportunity to make ground on Liverpool.
So, of course, Fulham scored two late goals to grab a 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge. Let's hear from Enzo Maresca and the jubilant Marco Silva. We are going to fight for the top half of the table. We're 100% sure it was our goal in the beginning of the season. We are not hiding ourselves. Our ambition is clear and we just... He's not with words, he's with action. He's on the pitch on the matchday. And when you are fighting for the top half of the table, you can fight for many different positions there. We are going to fight. Let's hope in the next...
A few weeks, some months we have the players back because we have five players out injured. We need them for us to be stronger, but we are going to fight. Top of the table here is our aim, we want to do better than last season. If it's going to be 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, we don't know really, but we are going to fight hard. The word that springs to mind for me on John is desire, absolute desire.
It won't be a pick-miser, he was everywhere. The amount of hard work, he did selfless hard work that he contributed to the performance. As he walked off, you could see Silva knew he'd given everything, I think he had to take him off, because he couldn't have had any more. But that drive and that tenacity,
and willingness to work with his team-mates was shown throughout the Fulham performance. It was a real team performance and it had belief written all over it as well. Probably in this moment the feeling is not the best one, especially for the second goal we conceded.
but there are many things that we can learn. Probably the way we manage the game, we could do much better. They are a team built for transition with Iwobi, with Adama, Robinson, Jimenez, and we could avoid that, especially in the first 15, 20 minutes of the second half. But, yeah, at the end it has been a shame because it was the last minute, the ball was for us. But, yeah.
In the early kick-off, Manchester City were looking to turn around their dreadful form with an easy win at home to Everton. But of course they didn't. Pep Guardiola's side could only manage a 1-1 draw with Sean Dyche's toffees. Yes, Manchester City got Dyched. You didn't have Kevin De Bruyne from the start today. You decided to leave him on the bench. Is physically he 100% at this moment? He will be 100% when I play.
So that was the reason that you left him on the bench, because he isn't quite up to speed yet. Yeah, like same D'Agundo, the same like Jack Willis is injured and Kyle is with flu. And maybe it was my mistake. Maybe I should have played earlier, Kevin. But in the moment that the team was playing...
Good and always you expect some energy for some players and that's why we did it He came on with 15 minutes of the 90 left. You're absolutely right now You could argue he's had 20 minutes because six was added on to do something hasn't really impacted the game at all He would definitely argue hang on a minute. I should have been given more than that I should have done at least 60 or for the second half probably as soon as the penalty was missed Yeah, I'd have put him on
Well, he was warming up for ages, and then at 60, he went and sat back down, and I'm thinking, surely they're finding it tough to break Everton down, as a lot of teams do, and we'll talk about Everton in a second. I just thought it was very strange from Pep Guardiola. Maybe he thought, well, we've done enough to earn a penalty, which normally we'd score, so let's keep on doing those things. I think as soon as that penalty's missed...
you've got to put him on and keep building that ascendancy, get quality on, get experience on the pitch. A pleasing run of performances, mainly the mentality. You can't guarantee outcomes, but you want the mentality of your players to be right. I think it's been superb, the last four games, the big win against Wolves, and then coming on the back of that with the Arsenal game, of course, Chelsea have been scoring goals for fun, and then coming here, and I think everyone's waiting for these to ignite again, which they will do at some point.
So that kind of firm mentality has been really pleasing. And as you say, you know, towards the end of the game, I was really...

Newcastle's Isak kept up his fine scoring record as the Geordies picked up a 3-0 win over Aston Villa. I wonder what Eddie Howe and Uno Emery had to say after the game. Very important. You're only as good as the goals really in your team and who's going to deliver most of those for us will hopefully be Alex. I think he's growing in confidence with every goal that he scores. I think his movement looks good.
I thought we struggled to get him into the game early in the match, but of course as there was more space against the ten men, I thought he grew into the game and had a really good second half. In the first 30 minutes we conceded one goal.
But we reacted very well and we were more or less feeling comfortable in our game plan, trying to carry on our game plan. But the record was completely changing it. And of course, then we tried to compete, we tried as well to be in the game. But against Newcastle here, they are feeling strong. They have very good players and their rhythm is high. We need to play with 11 players, but it's not what's more difficult. Of course, we tried and in case we were scoring one goal, we were tuning, losing...

West Ham's Gerard Bowen scored the 100th league goal of his career to condemn Ivan Juric to a losing start as Southampton manager. The Saints boss and Julian Lopetegui gave their thoughts after the game to TalkSport. Yes, sometimes we play with three, like two wingers and one striker and sometimes with two and one behind. Depends on the team we will play on.
and not much time for you to get things changed in time for Sunday, but do you feel you can build on today's performance on Sunday? I think we have repeated the same performance and tried to be much more clinical to score the goals. Yes, I think that these three points are always important, but they can be very expensive because it's true that we have three injuries, two yellow cards with Thomas, Sousek and Guido that
Talk Sport Daily.
And down on the south coast now, Bournemouth extended their Premier League unbeaten run to six matches but could only manage a 0-0 draw at home to Crystal Palace. Iriola and Glasner spoke to TalkSport after the game. No, the standings, I don't look at the standings. But you were fifth before today. Yeah, but it doesn't matter. You know, we have, I don't know, one, two, three points behind us, five or six teams. The verity cannot change if we are 12th or we are fifth or because one goal average or one whatever. I think...
I'm happy because we are being competitive and we are now 29 points. I hope we...
We played very well if we want to add one more point or three more points to the first round, but we have to continue playing the same way. And for me, it's very early to look at the standings and doesn't change a lot if you are two positions ahead or behind now in the even in Christmas. Yes, you know, it was very excited because it was new and old and it was I think everybody had the feeling if a team scores a goal, it will be the game winner. And so this
didn't make it boring for me on the touchline outside. But yes, of course, there were not so many clear chances, not so many situations maybe for the fans.
but you can't always have a 6-3 like it was several days ago or a 1-5. I always take a more boring game, 0-0, than a 1-5 like we had last week against Arsenal at home. We had more chances but we also conceded many more goals. It was important today to get at least a point here at Bournemouth. The team is in very good shape and in a good run, so you could see it playing with a lot of confidence and that's why it's important to go back with a point.

On to today, and TalkSport 2 brings you live coverage of Brighton versus Brentford. But on TalkSport, there is live commentary of Arsenal as they take on Ipswich. Scored! It's the star boy, Bakayo Saki!
It's not looking good. He's going to be out for many weeks. Any team would really miss him, certainly for the title. You don't want to be losing a player of that calibre for that long. That is one Arsenal five, all wrapped up with a lovely little bow on top. I don't think you win anything with Kai Havertz as your goalscorer. They just couldn't find a way through. Sean Dyche is well drilled, Everton. Arsenal nil, Everton nil. Switch up a corner now coming in from Jack Clarke. There's a chance in the far stick. Jack Taylor, marvellous.
My goodness! Oh, what a mess at the back for Ipswich Town. It's been such a huge leap that now you're starting to see how big that leap is. Ipswich is waiting for a home Premier League win. Goes on.
We need to take the lessons from it really, really quickly and get ready for the next games. Let's all go on TalkSport all the time. Wherever there's football, we will be there. That's it, guys.
