A Nigerian international affairs expert says the candidates brought up issues important to Africa in their debate. Around the United States, people marked the anniversary of the 9-11 terrorist attacks, which began what the U.S. called the Global War on Terrorism against al-Qaida and groups such as the Islamic State and its Africa affiliates.
