Gathering around a fire pit is a guaranteed way to instantly increase your relaxation factor.

The crackling sound and bright flames are mesmerizing. There is nothing better for me, than a snowy day, cuddled with a blanket beside the fireplace hearing the crackling of the wood.

These relaxing effects from fire may go back to prehistoric times when our ancestors socialized primarily around campfires – forging strong bonds with others and sharing the safety fire provided from predators. You may not have a campfire to sit by or a fireplace in your house, but you can now tune in to a TV station or Youtube video that broadcasts a wood burning fire experience all day long. One study found that that blood pressure decreased for those who watched and listened to the sound of a fire and the longer people watched the fire, the more relaxed they became.
